Supporting Godfrey Broen-Crawford

Godfrey, or Broen as he prefers to be called, is a young man marked by violence but not defined by it. He has a number of physical scars and deformities caused by violence: notably he has a number of circular burn scars on the back of his neck and his nose is visibly off center from repeatedly being broken. Underneath his clothes he has even more scars, most of them gained incidentally through battle. He has a tattoo on the inside of his left forearm: a stylized capital D vaguely in the shape of an arrow, overlapping a black arrow pointing the opposite direction.

He is slim, with lithe musculature that remarks on an agile sort of athleticism. He has strong Western European features, with skin that lends itself closer to pale even when he gets plenty of sun and short, well kept hair that sits somewhere between ginger and blonde in color. His eyes are a deep sea green-blue with a slight red discoloration in the right one where a blood vessel burst.

Broen dresses well, but rarely if ever formally. A nice pair of jeans and a button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up is the closes you'll get him to attending a black tie event. He has a fondness for urban fashion, but even these tend to be more upbranded than what might be considered normal.

Broen is a young man who had a lot of anger that got resolved faster than he had expected it to, and in trying to re-calibrate himself he discovered that that anger could be turned towards something more productive. He isn't unkind, but he doesn't mince words with people and can come across as rude or brash as he would rather be honest with someone rather than lie to them to soften a blow. He has no trouble with profanity or crudeness, but dials it back in public to avoid getting into too many unnecessary conflicts.

He can't stand to see someone being mistreated by authority figures, parents especially, and will not hesitate to call out such abuses when he sees them. He learned a long time ago that violence is usually an answer, but not usually the first answer. As such, while he won't throw the first punch, he is not shy about fighting with anyone who he thinks needs a good ass kicking. He's also sympathetic though to people in bad situations, and will often look for more nuance before he flies off the handle and passes judgement.

Broen loves cooking, anime, hip hop, and football. His interests buck a lot of traditional ideas about masculinity and he flaunts this shamelessly.

Knight Errant
Broen has a modified suit of armor that is a less ostentatious version of the one worn by his father. It protects his important bits (his chest and head) from small arms fire and doubles his physical capabilities while worn. The suit comes with a sword and shield that he can summon to his hands from anywhere within one hundred feet of himself with magnet systems in the gloves. The helmet also has a built in communication and heads up display that acts like a modern smart phone.

Nemesis.
Due to taking his father's powers and the unintentional blending of them with his own, Broen has a unique ability that is somewhere halfway between the two. By marking a person he can see, no action necessary to do this, Broen takes his and the other individual's physical and supernatural abilities and averages them out between the two. If his opponent can lift two tons then they and Broen would be able to each lift one ton while the link remains, for example. The link is indefinite, but can only be maintained on one person at a time. While Broen is linked to someone this way, he and the linked individual can track one another's location.

Hero's Heart: We the People
Inherited unexpectedly from his bond with his adoptive mother, Broen can create up to three duplicates of himself, allowing him to act as four individuals simultaneously. Broen cannot have any powers copied using Nemesis and cannot copy powers while duplicating, but the duplicates can have a copy of his armor on if he is wearing it when he duplicates. The duplicates do not share a mental link, but can share memories if they merge. If they are killed, any memories that they had gained are lost. While duplicated this way, there is no 'original' Broen. Whichever Broen is left standing when the others are gone becomes the original. When a duplicate is killed, it and every item that was created when it first spawned (clothes, wallet, phone, etc.) disappear into water vapor.

Weakness

Godfrey Crawford was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. But that silver spoon came with certain expectations. His father, the retired superhero known as Gallant, the Shining Knight, fully expected his son to follow in his footsteps. When the young Godfrey showed no sign of interest in hero work, his father at first tried to force him, then disowned him when it was obvious that that wouldn't work. On his own barely at the age of sixteen, Godfrey took his mother's maiden name and shunned everything to do with his father.

He did his best to get by, living in homeless shelters when he could and sleeping on the street when he couldn't. That was his first year after being disowned, until he was caught by a Librarian from the Abernathy Academy for Troubled Youths. Truancy was his crime, apparently. But how could they expect him to go to school when he had nothing to his name? But Broen, as he preferred to be called now, knew how to play this bullshit prep school game. He was obedient, at least until he realized just what "going to class" meant. For several weeks he sat in class, unable to move, feeling his goodness being chipped away at. He cracked eventually, but didn't break. Then some teen heroes came and rescued all the kids.

Broen got help like the other kids. Therapy and being taken under the wing of the New Sentinels went far in helping him recover from his ordeal at the School. But the Headmaster's influence didn't really go away until months later, when the villainess Calliope was taken down and the shard of the Headmaster she had recovered was destroyed by Edmund Eldritch. Free from the repressed emotions that the Headmaster had locked away, Broen finally opened up to We the People about the abuses suffered under his father. While she was skeptical at first, the testimony of another group of teenage heroes, the Defiant, helped solidify an investigation. Mayor Fredrick Crawford was outed and ousted, and his estate went to Broen for damages.

Broen didn't keep most of the money or the house, instead offering it all up as a way to help children all over Halcyon who had powers grow up without the pressure to be a hero or getting sucked into villainy. He left the Junior Sentinels on good terms and joined up with his friends in the Defiant. He hyphenated his father's family name onto his own as an act of taking back what was his, and further did this by taking a modified suit of Fredrick's armor. He called himself Knight Errant and together with the Defiant went on to save Halcyon City several more times.

Broen went to culinary school like he had always wanted and became a household name in Halcyon City until a new threat called him and the other Defiant out of retirement. An alien invasion rocked their planet for months as they fought back with guerrilla tactics and won small pocket victories. But it was obvious that they would need to make a larger blow to the fleet in order to win. Broen boarded one of the alien flagships with a bomb meant to blow it out of their dimension altogether and thereby shut down the entire section of the fleet that it controlled. He was caught and in a split second decision detonated the bomb with himself still on the ship. He said goodbye to whoever could hear him on the radio and felt himself flung between dimensions.

He didn't know where the ship had gone when he woke up, but Broen himself was in a city that he didn't recognize and surrounded by a multitude of strange looking people.

He lives in a small studio apartment and works as a pâtissier at the Bearclaw Bakery and Cafe.
