The last few weeks had been a little rough for Evie.

The holiday season came and went, and with it came a slew of bad memories and sour moods, culminating in a very awkward display towards one of her acquaintances. Evie didn't like how it made her feel; stressed, anxious, small. So, she decided it was time to put all that behind her. It was a new year! She had to make sure she started it off right, and she could think of no better way to reassert her confidence than with her typical shenanigans. After all, she was starting to build something of a reputation as a troublemaker, she had to make sure she lived up to it now.

It was well into the evening once Evie strolled into the courtyard, not exactly bedtime for the campus, but late enough for the sun to have long since disappeared over the horizon. In her hands she carried a medium sized metal bucket that swung in her hands with every step. The container was filled to the brim with light green, viscous, sticky Nickelodian-esque green slime. It sloshed around audibly within as she approached one of the buildings.

It was an older, maybe cliché kind of prank, sure. But Evie had a respect for the classics.

Humming to herself, she strolled up to the main building, planted her feet against the wall, and seamlessly shifted her gravity to allow her to walk right up it, until she was standing a couple meters above the entrance. She stuck her hand inside the bucket, letting her powers seep into the slime as well as the metal container, and once she felt it was ready, placed the bucket against the wall, letting it stick to the side with its opening facing the ground. The slime, its gravity sufficiently reduced, sat inside, ready to fall down towards whoever was unfortunate enough to walk outside.

The trap set, Evie hopped back down to solid ground, and quickly ran off to hide behind the fountain, peering over the stone and giggling to herself. Now she just had to wait, wait until someone opened the door and walked outside. Once they did, the gravity affecting the slime would return to normal, and the entire payload would pour down on her unsuspecting victim.

She watched the door with rapt attention, waiting to see who it would be and how they would react.

Luna absolutely despised sundown. It was as if the world around her had descended into darkness and she left behind to rot in it. However, conquering her fear of the dark had been on the top of her list for a while now and today was the day she acted upon it. Stepping out of the dorm, she let herself wander away from the confinements of safety and into unknown territory. Streetlamps and other small light sources were nowhere near enough to grant her sight, hence at this time, she was almost blind. Straying deeper and deeper into the abyss like a clueless, lost child her hand hovered just above the hilt of her sword, prepared to defend at any second. With each step she took, Luna felt a rising tension slowly build up within her, lashing at her prior calm state of mind.

After crossing what felt like endless, barren land, she eventually came across an empty doorframe which marked the entrance to a building. Sparring a glance upward, she could only see darkness beyond a meter of brick wall. Stepping forward in hopes that she had arrived back of the dorms, a foreign substance was instantly poured all over Luna from above. Resisting the urge to scream, she let out an audible gasp as she drew her her sword and made a blind swing upwards. Her instincts snapped into action, guiding her into a battle stance: the elbow of her sword hand raised to head level while the tip of her sword threateningly pointed forward, ready to strike while her knees were kept half bent, lowering her center of gravity and steadying herself.

At that moment, a million thoughts swarmed her mind simultaneously. The main concern being whether she had accidentally wandered out of school grounds and trespassed into personal property. If left with no other option than to fight, would she be able to hold her ground under such disadvantages conditions? Taking a moment to compose herself, she then broke the silence, her voice masking most of her fear and her tone barely edging on threatening.

"Who's there."

When you think about it, Luna looks very stupid.

Evie peered out from behind her little hiding spot, eyes drawn to the sound of the approaching footsteps, looking towards the girl. She didn't recognise her, but she looked proper, dressed all fancy like. Evie thought she was the perfect kind of target, she crossed her fingers, biting her lips in anticipation as she drew closer and closer to the door.

As soon as she stepped into position, Evie sprung the trap, letting the slime fall and coat her completely. Her first thought was to giggle, a small, childish giggle, the strangers absurdly sudden reaction to the slime was absolutely hilarious to Evie. Her second thought, however, was to notice what she was flailing around.

Yep, that was a sword, a legit, real ass sword she was swinging around. Evie was suddenly very glad she had chosen to hide before committing to her prank. Evie knew that some people on the island were dangerous, she wasn't eager to piss off the wrong person. Someone who just carried around a real ass sword was probably someone who knew how to us it. So after the slime had dropped onto Luna, Evie stepped out from behind the fountain, hands raised in a non-threatening gesture, unaware of the other girl's blindness.

"Woah woah woah! Hey! no need for the pointy thing! It's all cool here!"

Despite being slightly intimidated by the weapon, she still couldn't help but crack smirk and a giggle. Despite her serious stance, the slime could not make Luna look more silly.

Hearing a voice call out from the darkness, Luna instinctively turned her body to face it accordingly. Judging by the sound of it, it seemed like a female positioned not too far away was the cause of the mysterious substance dripping all over her. Her better judgment evaluated that she wasn't much of a threat, however, the lack of visibility kept her wary enough to keep a tight grasp on the hilt of her sword despite its tip now safely sheathed. Though she momentarily considered dashing forward to make known the face of her "perpetrator" she decided against it least she scare the poor girl.

The laugh following shortly after did little to soften her grip immediately but was enough to make her realize this was most likely a prank. Though she never understood what kind of enjoyment one would find by pulling harmless jokes on others, she didn't exactly despise being on the receiving end of it. Relaxing her posture ever so slightly, she then addressed the stranger in a calm but rather clipped tone.

"I'm sorry for reacting so violently." Pausing, Luna comfortably let an awkward silence drag on for a few beats as she pieced her thoughts together, searching for the right words to vocalize them. "But what is this substance." Is it deadly? Wil it do harm? Were left barely implied and went unsaid.

Evie let her hands slowly fall back to her sides once she realised the other girl wasn't about to jump her in retaliation, her feet crunching in the snow as she stepped around the fountain to reveal herself fully. She watched as she turned to face her, with the distance they were standing she thought there was something up with the way she looked towards her, but couldn't quite put her finger on it right away.

"Ehhh, mostly starch and food colouring," She explained, a hint of nervousness in her grin as she began to walk over to her. Slowly, of course. The sword was still out and she didn't want to get skewered because of any sudden movement. "It'll wash right off. Though uh, you might wanna swap that dress out sooner rather than later. The stains are kinda nasty."

As Evie got closer, she finally realised what was off about her. The girl looked towards her, but not necessarily at her. She assumed, just based on that fact, that the girl was blind.

Well, that would make things significantly less fun.

"You kinda look like you got puked on by an alien, by the way." She added, with another little giggle. Evie assumed from the way she looked and the way she talked that this stranger was some kind of high society kinda gal. People like that were usually somewhat uptight, and they were the best kind of people to prank. It'd be a shame if she couldn't react to how ridiculous she looked.

Luna watched on, the sound of other's footsteps guiding her lingering gaze. She heard the rushing water of a fountain in a distance, close to where the girl was situated but apart from that, Luna was clueless. Once Evie confirmed the slimy and rather sticky feeling covering her was harmless, she visibly relaxed, releasing the built-up tension in her shoulders and swiftly sheathing her rapier once more.

You kinda look like you got puked on by an alien, by the way.

True enough, after sparring a glance at herself, she noted the putrid green medium slowly but surely dripping from the gentle slope of her shoulders down to the hem of her dress before gracing the ground with its revolting presence. In a slow, sweeping motion, she brushed her fingers along her forearm, observing the strings of slime stretch out as her lips subtly curved in amusement. With her voice remaining neutral, she then spoke: "This is... a very interesting green." Tilting her chin up, her eyes darted around in search for the girl whilst she listened intently for a melodious but disembodied voice or a sharp crunch of snow.

Eventually, she rested both arms idly by her side before taking a few blind and uncharted steps forward hoping Evie would enter her restricted circle of vision. Regardless, she continued to address the other with her tone kept languid. "Was this a... prank?" Despite knowing that it was a stupid question to ask, Luna was still getting accustomed to the ways of Starlight Academy and the ways of society itself. Apparently being pranked was a bad thing, however, there was a small spark of joy at this inclusion.

Evie blinked twice. So she...can see? Her behaviour was starting to confuse her a little. Not only that, she didn't even seem to react that much to the mess she was covered in. Evie frowned to herself, crossing her arms.

"Jeez, I must be starting to slip. If my pranks aren't obviously pranks then I really gotta step up my game."

Despite Evie's complaining, she could see the beginning of a smile on the other girls face. Oh well, Evie did enjoy getting a laugh out of people, she'd spent almost all her childhood doing exactly that after all. Even if she didn't get much out of her, this prank wasn't a complete waste.

Crunching through the snow, Evie finally stepped within Luna's line of sight. She was shorter than her, bundled in an oversized white coat that matched the colour of her bleached hair. She leaned forward, head tilted to the side as she gazed up at her curiously, wondering if she could see her right now.

"You new here or something?" She asked, lazy smirk on her face. "No offence but you kinda look outta place. And we're on a weird magic island so that's saying something."

At the other’s pleasant tone, Luna internally perked up, all signs of her wariness fully dissipating as her glow visibly intensified, increasing the radius of illumination by a few centermeters. Upon first laying eyes on the other’s physical appearance, Luna’s first impression was somewhere along the lines of “wow she’s a little short, thats cute.” She had to admit: the white hair was unique. It was teetering what one would consider a normal hair colour yet to see a frame of white against such youthful facial features was a sight to get used to. Luna’s gaze lingered, slowly shifting from the crest of Evie’s head down to her torso then to the faint footprints she left behind on the crystal-like snow before initiating eye contact once more. Not wanting to stay silent for a moment too long, she then replied the other, her tone a little more energetic than it previously was. “No, not at all, it’s just that I’ve never seen a prank before. Perhaps I just didn’t know what to classify such a harmless act under.”

As expected, Evie almost immediately noticed that she was new. It wasn’t that big of a secret to begin with but she was initially hoping to have integrated sufficiently within her first week. But alas, Rome was not built in a day; such a significant change would take time getting used to. In this case, the ways of society were still mostly foreign, especially given the amount of unmentioned rules.

“Yes, I arrived around a week ago and still have a lot to learn.” Tilting her head slightly to the right, she sparred a moment of silence before continuing “Much of my interactions are on the battlefield so, as you can tell, I’m not very good at socialising.”

Evie blinked a couple of times, taking a moment to adjust to the glow radiating from her body. The eye contact confirmed that she could indeed see her. Evie was tempted to start making some goofy faces just to confirm it, but she figured that wasn't necessary for the moment. She stood back up straight, hands behind her back, rocking back and forth on her heels.

"Battlefield? What kinda battlefield has people running around with swords nowadays?"

Evie had met a lot of strange people since she arrived on the island, and many of them had arrived after equally strange circumstances. Evidently, the new girl was some kind of warrior. That wasn't too hard for her to believe, though it did make her a little curious.

So, naturally, she decided to let her imagination wander for a moment.

"Are you from some kinda weird alternate dimension or something? Or maybe your a time traveller, is that why you have a sword? Oh oh oh! Are you an alien? Are you glowing because you're an alien?"

Evie unloaded each question one after another in quick succession, eyes lighting up the same way a small, excitable child's might.
