So I have a couple of characters I could potentially throw at either of yours.
Hella, my Fae-touched ex-necromancer could work with either Natasha or Tomas. She's interested in reacquiring some of her magic, but is generally disinterested in learning it at the school. She doesn't care for the structured setting and kind of wants to learn magic on her own terms, in her own way.
Likewise, she has a magic tattoo that mimics the effect of the Fae magic that turned her into a girl (she's mtf transgender), and had to take out a loan with someone because that was an expensive thing to get. I'm not 100% sold on the idea of her owing money to a predatory loan shark, but I'd be willing to talk it out at least. At the very least she would defimdefin be careful about reading a contract with him if she did do that.
My other character would really work better with Tomas. Fitz is a conman who is looking to get into the smuggling business. More organized crime. And to that end, he's trying to build up a network of contacts. A safety net, as it were. Fitz isn't actually magical at all, but he pretends as such and he's hoping that if he surrounds himself with enough magical people he can compensate for that.

Honestly, the more I look at it I really like the idea of Fitz working with Tomas. Fitz getting into organized crime, he needs people he knows can get things done. And he needs people to know that if he makes a deal with him, he's going to hold them to it.
That said, he's not one to just blindly go talk to someone. Especially on Manta Carlos, where he's been screwed over several times by people having powers he wasn't prepared for. To that end, how open if Tomas with his contracts and curses? I'd kind of like to consider how plausible it is that Fitz goes into their first meeting prepared for the worst.

Depends what he wants really, Tomas uses the contracts more as a guarantee of payment for money loaned or if he has cursed somebody for someone... services rendered type thing. The curses are if he gets screwed over somehow - there have been times people get out a contract (with trickery), and then, it depends whether that person has basically peeved him off or not - like bragging about it or just generally being annoying. (Although, sometimes, he can't be bothered with the trouble of a curse and will just send the dead to terrorize the person a little.)
Basically, Tomas doesn't like to be toyed with. If Fritz has "noble" intentions Tomas will most likely be open to whatever he's selling or asking.

Beautiful. I'd love to do this as a thread with you, if you'd be up for it. Where does Tomas tend to do business, as that's probably where Fitz would approach him. We're professionals, after all. If we go for a few beers after the fact, that's an entirely different thing.
