Description of Services:
Onsen:
The onsen offers services equivalent to a modern spa. The onsen is open to all ages, but minors under 18 are not permitted in the mixed bath. The baths are magically prepared in natural hot springs and are regularly purified. Several have magical or purifying properties that depend on the season, solstice, and phase of the moon.
Regulations:
- Splashing, loud noises, and running are frowned upon.
- The playing of music is not encouraged, but exceptions are often made
- Individuals are encouraged to rinse off using a private and separate shower prior to entering and exiting the onsen.
- Guests are provided with a robe and towel for traveling between the onsen and changing rooms. Clothing is not permitted inside the onsen, with the exception of magical objects that allow an individual to retain a specific shape.
- Minors under 18 are not permitted in the mixed bath.
On the first Friday of each month, the onsen is open free of charge to students. Special discounts are provided for students following midterms and finals.
Employees of The Cross Fox are able to utilize the onsen services free of charge.
Ryokan:
The ryokan is a small, comfortable hotel. It offers short term and extended stay for clients utilizing the onsen, looking to escape for a romantic weekend, or hoping to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Guests can rent a room with a bed or a more traditional floor futon. In the winter months, the small tables in each room feature a kotatsu. While the ryokan is kept at a comfortable temperature, it does tend to feel a little chilly in the winter months.
- A light breakfast and dinner is provided to all guests.
- Vegetarian and special diet requests are readily available.
- Meals can be eaten privately in the guest's room or taken in the communal hall.
- Guests who prefer to prepare their own meals may utilize the kitchens.
- Decadent teas and handmade chocolates are readily available to all guests.
- Magic is utilized at Yōkoso to make sure guests of unusual sizes, species, or abilities may comfortable utilize all services.
The Ryokan is only available for adults ages 18+. Minors are permitted to visit, but not stay at the ryokan unless special permission is granted by the owner.
Appearance Description:
Yōkoso blends in beautifully with the natural landscape of the Manta Carlos. Yōkoso is located at the base of the mountain. The air is cool, crisp, and pure. Yōkoso has a fox motif.
The first thing visitors are greeted by is a large, beautifully decorated archway consisting of two stone foxes standing on their hind legs. After passing through this archway, the stone pathway will lead visitors to the Guest House, where they may check in. Individuals who rode in on horseback, carriage, or other forms of transportation will leave their mounts at the guest house where they will be cared for. The guest house is surrounded by beautiful gardens.
The ryokan has a relatively large entrance hall with comfortable couches and chairs for guests to sit and talk. There is no television, but instead a large fire pit where guests can warm themselves in the winter. In the summer months, the fire pit is replaced by a fountain.
The flooring is tatami and the doors of the ryoken are sliding. Despite the frail appearance, the building is quite strong and only excessive amounts of destructive magic would be able to damage it.
Guests are encouraged to take off their shoes at the door. Slippers are provided to guests who desire them.
A large, comfortable porch decorated with wind chimes and beautiful plants wraps around the ryokan. This porch is comfortable in all temperatures.
Each room features a bed or floor futon, a small table, and supplies for creating tea. Each room has a comfortable private bathroom. Rooms with a private kitchenette are available upon request.
Yōkoso features both in door and outdoor onsen bathing. These mineral spring baths offer a scenic view of the mountain and forest surrounding and are a comfortable warm temperature. The outdoor baths are nestled among large rocks and feature beautiful landscaping, windchimes, and occasional fencing to prevent prying eyes, but none of these features interfear with the beauty of the natural landscape.
Both the indoor and outdoor onsen have three locations: mixed bathing, male-gender, and female-gender baths. Individuals are encouraged to use the bath they feel most comfortable identifying with. Guests are provided with a towel and a robe to use when leaving the onsen or traveling between onsens.
