You'll be fine

Angelo was on his way out. Jude was, as far as he could tell, fine. Or mostly fine. Not dying, and not needing to go to the hospital, and what else was there to really worry about? More importantly, he was better than the night before, and he made a point of stopping by the kitchen to find Rory as he headed out, dressed in his uniform.

"I'm heading out," he said. "But Jude wanted to talk to you, if you were up." Which she was, obviously. "He's in his room."

The first very obvious thing about Jude was that he was mostly dressed already. Not lying around in bed. No, he was pretty much ready to go, looking mostly no worse for the wear.

He was also wearing a sling, holding his left arm in place.

"Rory," Jude said with a quick glance. "We should... uh, probably talk."

"Don't worry about the arm," Jude said. "Giltenn's just not talking to me right now. I figure I'll give them a few days, and then they'll come back. They know why I did it, and they... okay, it just hurt them a lot. They just need time to recover."

Which left him down an arm.

"So. You, uh, okay? After that. I probably scared you."

"Well," Jude said with the most overstated and exaggerated shrug. "Funny story about that. Basically, I remember you going in for it, and then... nothing. I don't remember anything after that. If I said anything? Don't remember. As far as my memory goes, you went in for a kiss and then I woke up in bed."

Which was kind of concerning, considering his memory was normally perfect.

Oh. Okay, that wasn't as bad as he'd thought. Jude seemed to visibly relax, reaching up to shift the sling.

"Okay. Well... I think we can scratch that one off our list of things we wonder about. Turns out I basically have a seizure. Giltenn was pretty clear on that before I slunk off. No permanent damage, but it'll drop me like nothing."

Literally like nothing else. You could punch a hole through his chest and it'd hurt less than his brain being on fire.

"I'm fine now, basically. Tail end of a really bad headache. An- Officer Genovese gave me some painkillers, and they seem to be helping."
