And Rory was blushing. That easy. She rubbed her heated cheek and tried not to look at him. Her friendship had always caused him strife, so why did he keep doing it? Who knew, but Rory wasn't about to look a gifted horse in the mouth, or whatever.

No. Not for a long time. Jude had thought about it--about if it was worth it to try and give up Giltenn one day. If it was worth separating. But there was no pull tab he could pop and get rid of them. He was stuck with them one way or another.

"Worth a shot," Jude agreed. "Not sure Giltenn agrees though. It was... well, an experience. ANd we know now. So there's that."

Rory was staring at Jude enigmatically. They'd been through so much and this was where they were now. It felt odd, being off this diverging path. They'd made it somehow. Friendship intact despite all the stupidity.

Christ, she was going to tear up. She sniffed and rubbed at her face in a poor attempt to hide it. "I'm glad you guys are my friends," she said barely above a whisper.

In a nice world, he'd have been able to reach up and help wipe her tears. Only that would have been nothing short of disastrous, so Jude kept his hand very firmly to itself.

"I'm happy you are too. And... I don't know. I'm kind of happy we did it. To at least solve the... uh, will-we-wont-we-what-if-we-could-touch."

Because they knew now. or at least Jude did.
