You seem like a fine young man

Dorian chuckled lightly at his observation. Was he really that obvious? "You caught me! So sharp. Yes, I'd like to advertise my club to you. Starlight Political Alliance. I think you have quite the knack for making people happy, and you'd be doing that with us on a much larger scale. Gifts are pretty individual, I think. But community outreach can make Manta Carlos a happier place to live in. I'd love to have you in our numbers. I can show you a sample of what we do, if you like."

"Yes, that would be nice," Vinnie said when asked if he would like an example of what they did. Making people happy, though, that sounded right up his ally. "I have never considered politics," Vin admitted, thoughtful. "They were very cutthroat, and I do not like to hurt people, so..."

Dorian nodded. "Yeah, it seems that way, doesn't it? In a way, it is pretty cutthroat. You need to up your opponent for positions. Like I said, politics brings power and prestige. It's something people with bad intentions want to have. People that want to do good should step up and play their games."

It seemed like they were done with tea time, so he stood up. He gestured for Vin to follow. "Have you ever been to the local shelter? Dreadful, isn't it? Hardly a penny from the state. We use our fundraisers to help furnish it. Lemme show you."

Vinanye jumped up when Dorian did. As a first reaction, he reached out and took Dorian's hand when Dorian began talking about the shelter. Vin was smart enough to know that was likely where they would be heading. That was what someone good at giving speeches would do. He gave Dorian's hand a gentle squeeze, walking shoulder-to-shoulder with the other man.

"What kind of fundraisers do you have?" Vin was aware there were different types. Bake sales, clothing, dancing, date auctions -- which by the by sounded quite fun! -- yes, many types of fundraisers.

Dorian felt his entire face heat up when Vinanye squeezed his hand. Oh. Well. He wasn't, uh, anticipating that but that was good to experience, at least. He was stiff as they walked, his heart beating a mile a minute. He led him to his car and gestured for him to sit at the Passenger's seat.

"Different types. Parties, food sales, auctions. Fun runs — those are charity marathons. You know, those sorts of things!" He smiled at him and got in the driver's seat. Alone. In his car with Vinanye. He could do this. "As an... aside. Do fae do relationship things? Ah. Sorry in advance if that's inappropriate."

Vinnie slid into the passenger's side seat. Dorian's car was nice, not that Vinanye would know much about that. Vin didn't ride in cars very often. When Dorian asked whether the Fae have relationships, Vinnie giggled, not at all put off by the question. "Yes, of course! The Fae have many relationships. It is rare for them to marry, however. Or, if they marry they tend to up and leave each other after a few decades."

Wait, what did that... Dorian squinted for a few seconds. Usually, Vin was amazing at picking up cues, but did he know...? Alright, he was going to ask outright. He thrummed the driving wheel and took a deep sigh.

"What about you? Are you on the market?"

It was a lucky thing Dorian had asked the first question about the Fae and relationships. Otherwise, Vinnie would have been quite confused by his second. Off the market. He quickly pieced together that Dorian was, in fact, asking if he were single.

The Fae shook his head. "I am in a relationship." Vinanye had to admit, he wasn't sure if more detail were needed or not? Did he say with who or for how long? He might as well. "I am dating Jeryia Iago."

"Oh!" Dorian's eyebrows shot up, then furrowed. In a relationship? He felt terribly disappointed, but he supposed he should've seen it coming. Vinanye was so lovely. It would've been unlikely for him to be single in the first place. Dorian smiled a little. Disappointment aside, he could focus on the election much better now that he wasn't dying of embarrassment.

"That's great. I'm happy for you." He smiled, then started his engine and drove off. Instead of heading to the shelter, he drove towards their office at the school first, which was at the other side of the campus. "Let me show you our office first, then we can head over there. You'll get to see where we do our work."

It wasn't longer than a ten minute drive. Dorian led him inside the office. "Look at this bulletin board. This is the list of things we've been working on. Pictures of before river clean up... after..." Dorian snagged the pics of the shelter. Dilapidated, and the furniture looking worse for wear. "This was the shelter before we worked on it."

Vinanye looked over each picture carefully, scrutinizing them. It was clear by the look in his eyes that his mind was made up. He would join the Alliance. Why would people ruin the rivers? The forests? And look at that beaten home and that orphanage!

When he had finished carefully picking through all the projects, his eyes had taken on a determined gleam when he looked up at Dorian. "This is much more me, than all of this election stuff."

Vinnie was certainly more a hands-on type than a political type.
