Gabbi felt a little aprehensive at this statement.
"Well, you see no, I wasn't abandoned here. My adoptive parents took me here. They signed the form saying they would bring me here and pick me up. My teacher knows I'm here. When I got here I told Mrs. Weaver I'd be fine by myself. She said the students could wander as long as they were back by 6 pm. Right now it's only 5 pm.
What I was trying to explain was that I'm adopted. So, a lot of people don't understand what that means. I was just trying to explain it to you,
See my adoptive parents, I live with them. They take me to school every day. They brought me here."

She wondered what Remi's intentions were by stating that she had been abandoned.
Was she a bother to her and Arjean?
Would she meet Junchi?
Was she welcome to hang out with them?

These kind of questions tended to pile up in Gabbi's thoughts when she felt rejected.

"Remi is adopted too," Arjean blurted out. "Remi's my half-sister." After speaking, they noticed she shot them a glare, one which they immediately turned their head away from her, pretending not to see it.

Remi sighed as she put her hand through her hair. "Partially adopted," she clarified. "But yeah, now I understand. I just find it weird they would allow such young children to wander around by themselves, but you seem smart enough I guess."

Arjean was a bit confused. Junchi wandered around by himself all the time, and he was only two years older. As long as he didn't go anywhere too dangerous and was back home when he needed to be his dads thought it was okay for him to travel around alone. Arjean nearly pointed that out to their big sister, but they kept quiet, instead focusing on their ice cream. They already felt like they were annoying her enough.

Remi must have noticed their discomfort because she allowed them a bit into her sandwich to cheer them up. "We should go explore some more. The day is almost over."

"Thank you for understanding Remi... I know my situation is a bit, unusual."

Gabbi agreed that there was more to do. All they had done so far is get a photo and some ice cream. But that was pretty much the norm at most theme parks. Always offering more than it was possible to do in one day. She couldn't blame the park though, they were just trying to accommodate everyone.

"Do you want to ride 'It's a Small Land'? I heard that one is not scary."
Gabbi was a little concerned that Arjean hadn't spoken in awhile. It was a bit tense at the moment, she could give them that, but she was also trying to be as friendly as possible.

"Arjean what do you want to do?" Gabbi wondered out loud.

Gabbi noticed a bug crawling on the cement. She wondered if killing it would provoke Arjean. That was the last thing she wanted to do. She walked a bit away from it so it wouldn't annoy her, and she fluffed her wing feathers. She hated when dust collected in between each feather, she often fluffed them so that they would be sparkly and clean.

"It's a Small Land?" Arjean wasn't fond of small areas. The smaller the area felt, the harder it was for them to breathe and think. But Gabbi was their friend, and they didn't want to ruin the fun for her because they were being a baby. "Yeah! Where is it?"

It was weird how easy it was to speak to Gabbi. They still struggled with speaking, but they were improving and had a better grasp on grammar. They were told they were developing fast, and that soon enough they would be able to understand stuff far beyond their age. Arjean found it hard to realize that, they just thought some things were getting easier to understand.

Arjean noticed the bug after seeing Gabbi look down at it. They picked it up, used to handling bugs before. When they were younger, they would play with their friends outside, but get grossed out and scared by anything that looked dirty and like a bug. Now they didn't care much if they got dirty or had bugs near them. Sometimes, Arjean liked to wave bugs near other kids, just to see their reactions.

"Scared?" they asked Gabbi with a taunting edge to their voice. "Not gonna hurt you." Arjean allowed the bug to crawl on their hand and arm, then they quickly caught it again and held it inside of their hand. "See? Not scary."
