October noticed his silence, and decided that she didn't want to be the one to talk first. She hoped she wasn't annoying him, she really did. She was glad when he spoke, though, but thought that he was kind of avoiding her question. He hadn't told her what his power was, after all, just that it was boring. "You're not boring," she said. "And I'm sure your power isn't either." She paused for a moment. "Well... anyway... I'm an ice elementalist." She knew she hadn't been asked, but she honestly didn't care that she had told him. She smiled when he looked down at her and he almost smiled. She noticed his eyes change colors... and in her opinion, that was pretty cool.

The twelve-year-old leaned up against the opposite wall when they reached the end of the hallway. She shrugged her shoulders when he asked her if she had any friends. "A few," she told him. "Not too many, though. What about you?"

Matthew's eyes lightened again. "Hmm, well thanks..I guess. You're not boring either. He looked uncomfortable

Man didu just say thanks? And to a complete stranger? you're becoming a softy in your old age

His expression changed to slight suprise when she mentioned her power "Really? I can..control fire." he looked away, to him it was a stupid power, he would glaldy change it to mind reading or something more interesting, if he were ever given the opportunity.

"None, I try to stay away from people, I found that people are too nosey and don't know when to leave things alone. Matthew growled, his eyes darkening to their natural color. The dark orbes followed the girl's movements as she leaned against the wall also.

temper, temper. A little voice taunted him meanly. Clenching his teeth he looked at the floor, inwardly hoping she hadn't thought he was aiming his coments on people to her.
The irritating little voice continued. And it seems people are always here just to hurt yo-

SHUT UP!!
his eyes turned the blackest of black and he looked at the stone floor.

"Heh, thanks," October said when he said she wasn't boring. She thought that she was, but she was glad he thought otherwise. Her eyes took on a look of wonder when he mentioned that his power was fire. "AWESOME!" she exclaimed. She hadn't met anyone that could control fire! She knew that her powers were weak to fire, but, that was basically all she knew about the other element. "I knew your power wasn't boring."

She thought that his comment on people was aimed somewhat toward her, since, after all, she had been asking him quite a few questions since she met him. And, he had walked away not too long ago... perhaps he wanted to be left alone? Oh, well, she wasn't going to leave just yet and she wssn't going to ask him if he wanted her to.

A look of concern came to her face when she noticed his eyes become dark and when he looked at the floor. "Are you alright?" she asked him quietly.

Matthew looked at her somewhat oddly. "Oh, well ah, thanks I guess. I've been working on trying to strengthen my power, but no luck. He stopped talking, somewhat suprised he'd said so much in one sentence.

There was a few moments silence then her voice broke it, Looking up from the floor he looked confused for a moment. "What? Oh, yeah. I'm fine He tried to relax and his eyes lightened.

"So, how old are you? He asked looking over at her

".... I've been working on trying to strengthen my power, but no luck."

October nodded her head slowly. "I'm sure you'll be able to strengthen it soon," she said. "I mean, this is the reason the school is here, isn't it?" She smiled somewhat in the hopes of reassuring him.

"What? Oh, yeah. I'm fine."

She nodded. If he was sure, she wouldn't question it. She noticed his eyes lighten colors anyway, so maybe he had just been thinking about something. When he asked her age, she spoke again. "Twelve," she said. "Almost thirteen, though. And you?"

Matthew shrugged. "Uh yeah, I guess..."

"Twelve," she said. "Almost thirteen, though. And you?"

"fifteen" Matthew replied.

"fifteen"

"Cool," October said. "My sister is sixteen. Her names Adelina. Have you ever met her?" she asked. Another question, but, oh well. She didn't think he had, but it was possible, wasn't it? She glanced around, then looked back to him. "So.... why are you here? In the halls, I mean, not at the school."

Matthew shook his head. "Know the name, and I think I saw her once, but no. never met her.

"So.... why are you here? In the halls, I mean, not at the school."

"I don't really know actually. He said slowly "Guess I just wanted to get away from the noise. To think for a while. matthew shrugged. He knew this was where he was supposed to ask why she was up there too, but he really didn't care. Looking bored he began to walk again, his arms crossed against his chest
