Private Why Are Emotions So Confusing?

Michi kept her hands held together despite Rowan's hands resting over them and somehow that felt so much more grounding than usual: keeping herself together with her own strength, while the reminder of someone else's presence to keep her rooted. Michi pressed her lips together, whether it was because she didn't want to slip another badly worded sentence or otherwise, she wasn't sure. The voices still chattered in her mind, some seemingly having their own conversation, but she chose to ignore them, pretending they were background noise even though the outside world was relatively quieter. Though as Rowan brought up their friends, a wry smile broke out from it. "Oh boy... Lizzy will not shut up about this," she said, a slight tinge of nervousness in her voice. "I told her I'd give her updates after I talked it out.. ahah.."

"K-kind of..." Michi responded to his question, keeping her smile up. She wasn't so much embarrassed that she'd been asking Lizzy for advice for something she probably should know more about -- but to be fair, their ages weren't too far apart. It's not like Michi focused on that aspect of life. Michi let out a nervous laugh as Rowan pointed out that they're technically dating now. "Can the dance just be a trial period because I think I messed that one up," she managed to say. If she were more honest, she didn't want to think about her blunder then, and her voices sure backed up the idea in their whispers. She forgot about their ice cream and if Rowan hadn't pointed out that it existed. All she could do was laugh as she tried to take a stab at it. It wasn't melted all through thank gods, but it would have been nice if it wasn't partly melted. Either way. "Erm... I think this is fine. But I might get another one that's not melted," she laughed, a little more relaxed than earlier.

Michi chuckled softly, relief washing over her that Rowan seems to agree to just maybe brush off her blunder under the rug for now. Rather than dwell on it, she turned her attention to her ice cream, trying to catch up to it before it turned into a puddle completely. "Well, sugar is my fuel," she said with a giggle, following him to steer the conversation to the present. The dance should be behind then now, and something she shouldn't worry about. Most of the voices seemed to agree, surprisingly, chanting 'sugar' in whispers in her mind. MIchi stiffened for a moment at the contact, but she eased herself into it, reminding herself this was a normal thing he'd always done with her. For some reason, she just felt conscious. "Hm... how about a movie? I'm more in the mood to watch than game."

Michi's giggle came out weirdly at Rowan's compliment that she covered her mouth right after. Before resuming eating her ice cream and trying to clear it up as fast as she could before it completely melted. She hummed thoughtfully at Rowan's question about their choice in movie, letting her thoughts wonder what she was in the mood for as she finished up. The waitress would returned to take their new orders before Michi spoke. "Hm... how about something a lil scary?" she proposed. While comedies are good to break the ice, she also thought scary movies also did a good job at it. For a moment she thought she heard Rowan respond so she didn't say more, but when Rowan spoke, she turned her head slightly towards him before his face met hers. It wasn't quite a kiss, but the proximity and contact made her freeze. Still, it was much more comforting and she settled in pretty quick. "Thanks for what?" she said, giggling slightly when Rowan pulled away, though whether it was because she was flustered or not, it didn't show.
