Alec Weiss had just moved in the island, with no apartment of his own, just sufficient money, his things, and a few documents for school. He had no time to spare before he had to go to the Academy, so when he did, it was only predictable that he was going to be lost.
"We probably should've asked some people a while ago," he muttered and scratched the back of his head. His pale lips were curved up to a smile, an obviously sheepish one, as a form of admitting that he somehow messed up.
"<i>You should've thought of that when there were still people around, stupid.</i>"
The voice rang in his head, as usual. It wasn't his own voice, nor was it made up. It was a lower pitched voice, though it was just as beautiful and smooth as his own. Despite the foul nickname, it's tone was calm and light and friendly, as usual.
This made Alec smile. Because no matter where he was, he was never alone, even if it sometimes seems that way. "Paradox, maybe you can help me figure our way back? You know, instead of saying trivial things."
A chuckle. "<i>I'm stuck with you, I have no idea how this school works, okay? But what about tracking our steps backwards and starting over?</i>"
"Yeah," Alec nodded in agreement. He turned his eyes away from the piece of paper in his hand, and turned his head to the direction he came from. He was pretty sure they were at the back of the campus, still outside, so maybe it was easier to go back than it seemed. He did his best to get back to the main entrance, with Paradox's guidance whenever he was unsure which turn to take. After what seemed like forever, he finally found himself in front of the office he's been looking for the entire day. The admissions office. He took a deep breath in, knocked on the door, and quietly went inside.
"Excuse me?" his voice was soft and gentle as it rang through the busy office, despite his heart acting otherwise and raging in his ribcage. His only source of comfort was the nonchalant humming in his head, and Paradox cheering him on, saying, "You'll be fine, Alec."
Alec took a deep breath and stepped closer to the nearby desk. "...I was wondering if I came to the right place. I'm new here and... still a bit lost," he said.
