Laying back in the hospital bed, Parker closed his eyes trying to stave off a feeling of dizziness and a weird sense of deja vu that had been plaguing him since he had been pulled out of the ocean yesterday afternoon. Pulled out - more like rescued like a fish in a net just as he was starting to go under as water filled his lungs and fatigue claimed him.
Duke actually thought he was going to die yesterday, that it was the end for him that he'd never see Risky or Jazz, or Ronnie again. And while he was alive, he still wasn't sure he'd ever see his friends again. He had no idea where he was and his senses were going crazy.
The idea of being here - wherever here was - all alone, made Duke uneasy and very antsy. He was actually beginning to regret jumping into the portal with the rest of his friends, especially if that meant their sacrifice had been in vain and all of them were dead, or lost... a thought that brought tears unbidden to his eyes.
