Purple droplets slid down marble skin and stained the once pure white snow. Pain; it was all Aimouryllice a'Phoche could feel in that split moment of peace and quiet. Pain and misery. Then, she tried to move, to stand up, and the silence broke. She got part way, managed to reach her knees before she felt herself roughly shoved back down by someone's boot.

This wasn't an uncommon occurrence for the aquatic girl. She could still hear the taunts and sneers in her ears, nearly every day she was faced with the verbal abuse, which sometimes escalated to this.

...This.

Aimouryllice wanted nothing more than to sink her teeth into the boy's arm, his hand, anything her mouth could find purchase on, but she couldn't. She had been told not to fight back since coming to the land of humans. It filled her with sick laughter every time she thought about it. But right now, there was no laughter.

Her stinging eyes opened to see the boy lift his foot in the air.

Kurt wasn't a physical strong individual, even by human standards, his dad constantly reminded him of this fact when at home, the bullies at school reminded him of it. So he went day to day being bullied both because of his demonic nature and because of him being physically weak, he was used to being beaten down, he was used to the abuse.

That said, today would prove to be different, today he'd surprise himself to an extent. It was going like any other day, he'd decided to go to the pond, do some sketches, relax a bit away from his problems. So he walked toward said pond, his tail swaying behind him, his bag over one shoulder, just another day. Then he saw it, and his heart dropped and his tail immediately twitched, the bullies from school were attacking the aquatic girl, the tiny girl who couldn't really defend herself.

In truth the half demon wasn't really sure what to do, he was used to being beat down, but seeing it happen to someone else, he couldn't stand it. So before he could really think it through, he'd crossed over to the scene, his tail lashing out and wrapping around the lead bullies akle before he could kick the girl again. Now, his tail was actually decently strong, could lift his own weight, so pulling at the bully, the tail threw him off balance, made him fall backwards. His tail zipped back to him, recognized the bully now, one he'd seen before, Kurt knew what would follow would be unpleasant for him.

The next things seemed to happen very fast, Kurt tried to defend himself, and his tail was strong, but the hostile bully was stronger. The half demon was quickly pummeled into submission, his eye black and that side of his face swollen from the punches as well as a split lip. Needless to say, he was paying for sticking up for the girl, luckily a teacher was nearby, they'd heard the commotion and the bully was pulled away.

After picking himself up, he'd go to the injured girl. "Are you ok?" he'd ask, not sure if she'd understand, yet she would, perfectly in fact, "we should get you to the nurse." Kurt didn't know it yet but, he was producing a language based power for translation.

Aimouryllice a'Phoche braced herself for the impact, but it never came. She looked back up, trying to blink the purple from her eyes to behold a turn of events that shocked her.

The boy bullying her hit the ground, sending little clumps of snow into her face--but she wasn't worried about the snow right then. She watched as the boy got right back up and turned his attack on someone else. Someone who had come to her rescue. Everything was happening so fast that she couldn't identify her defender right away, but all she knew was that first, her defender was losing and that really worried her, and second, she was glad that she wasn't being hurt anymore.

Then, as fast as everything had started, it was over.

Aimouryllice pushed herself up and started to wipe at her eyes as her defender approached and her attacker was hauled off. She blinked her eyes open and jolted slightly when she saw who it was.

"...Kurt," she started in her own language, as she was too turned around to focus on translating herself into English. "Why did you defend me? I don't know why you defended me. You're hurt--" The girl sniffed, her eyes glassy up as she reached to touch the areas near the injuries on his face.

Tears filled her eyes and overflowed. Kurt's suggestion went unheard as Aimouryllice's body was wracked with sobs; she pulled her hand back, only to try and wrap her arms around the half-demon. "Thank you."

He understood her, even as she spoke in her foreign language he still understood her perfectly, he wasn't sure how or why and it didn't really matter at the moment. "I couldn't just watch you get hurt," he wrapped his arms around her returning the hug, even his tail wrapping around. "I...I had to stop him," Kurt gently rubbed her back, trying to comfort her, even as his own voice cracked a little. "I'll be ok, I'm more worried about you," his magically enhanced words continued to to translate and he would continue to understand you.

Kurt didn't consider himself a hero, in truth he didn't think much of himself in general. Yet be couldn't have sat back and watch her get hurt, he had to step in and help, even if he did get hurt.

The half demon's eye was blackened and swollen, as was his cheek, scooting back just a little, he looked over her, his fingertips gently touching her as he checked her injuries over. "We should get you to the nurse," he said, brushing a bit of hair from her face, "what hurts? Anything you think might be broken?"
