Gabriel was a little bit nervous, but it wasn't the nasty kind of nervousness. Rather it was the type that coupled with excitement and anticipation. I just hope Bill likes what I've put together for his birthday . On a college student's budget, Gabe couldn't do anything overly elaborate but he had tried his best to make it something Bill would remember.
It had been hard for him to know what exactly to do. He had debated for a long time whether or not to get cake, he knew Bill loved cake but the poor boy also felt so guilty after he ate anything, especially unhealthy things, and Gabe didn't want to put the boy through that guilt. But it was his birthday, surely he'd cut himself some slack. So Gabe had gone ahead and bought a chocolate cake in a cute little bakery in the city, and had gotten 'Happy Birthday mi querido,' iced onto the top of it.
The other struggle Gabe had had was finding a present. The boy never really asked for much, apart from small things like coffee and candy. He'd ended up buying the boy some pyjamas with dinosaurs on them, which he thought were adorable but perhaps not age appropriate. Bill will love them though, that's all that matters. He had also gotten the boy a gift card to a record store and some books.
Gabe had placed a homemade card on the table, he had tried to draw it himself and it looked like a three year old had done it, but it was sweet. He had also decorated the room with balloons and a banner and was now just waiting for Bill to call by.
