What's My Age Again?

Gabriel was a little bit nervous, but it wasn't the nasty kind of nervousness. Rather it was the type that coupled with excitement and anticipation. I just hope Bill likes what I've put together for his birthday . On a college student's budget, Gabe couldn't do anything overly elaborate but he had tried his best to make it something Bill would remember.

It had been hard for him to know what exactly to do. He had debated for a long time whether or not to get cake, he knew Bill loved cake but the poor boy also felt so guilty after he ate anything, especially unhealthy things, and Gabe didn't want to put the boy through that guilt. But it was his birthday, surely he'd cut himself some slack. So Gabe had gone ahead and bought a chocolate cake in a cute little bakery in the city, and had gotten 'Happy Birthday mi querido,' iced onto the top of it.

The other struggle Gabe had had was finding a present. The boy never really asked for much, apart from small things like coffee and candy. He'd ended up buying the boy some pyjamas with dinosaurs on them, which he thought were adorable but perhaps not age appropriate. Bill will love them though, that's all that matters. He had also gotten the boy a gift card to a record store and some books.

Gabe had placed a homemade card on the table, he had tried to draw it himself and it looked like a three year old had done it, but it was sweet. He had also decorated the room with balloons and a banner and was now just waiting for Bill to call by.

<div align=center>William wasn't like to let go of the fact that today was his birthday. He could finally say he was an adult and he wasn't sure if that was exciting or terrifying. A little bit of both, he supposed. Did he have more responsibilities now? He didn't know, he didn't feel like he did. His high school days were over, though, he'd have to transfer over to college classes soon. That was scary. What did he want to study? What did he want to spend the rest of his life doing? He had no idea. He didn't even want to think about that right now. He had more or less let everyone he had come across know that it was his birthday, but as it was, that hadn't really been may people. He practically slammed himself into Gabe's door, scrabbling excitedly at the wood before attacking the handle and flinging it open, it was unlocked. Perhaps Gabriel had been expecting him.

"It's my birthday! It's my birthday!" The teen stumbled across the room, and more or less catapulted himself at Gabriel, kicking the door shut behind him and hitting him square in the middle of the chest, clinging to him and squealing, though his grip was just a little on the tight side. He wondered briefly if his family had sent him anything, this was his first birthday away from them, he wasn't sure if they even remembered or not. He pushed the thoughts away though, he didn't like to think about his family.

Gabe was here though, and to William it looked like he had bought him things. He supposed most couples exchanged the whole 'oh you shouldn't have! You didn't have to!' business. William thought that was silly though. Of course Gabe should have bought him presents. Of course he had to, just like William had to do the same when his birthday came around. Gabriel's birthday wasn't until October though, and his birthday was today. It was right now. Bill was so blind with excitement that he was struggling to hold himself completely still. He released his grip on his boyfriend just a little, tilted his head up and beamed at him. It was pretty evident that he'd rushed to get up and get dressed, his hair was a mess and his jumper had been thrown on backwards. "It's my birthday give me presents!"</div>

Gabriel laughed,
"hold your horses there buddy!" He had been a little shocked when Bill had banged into him but then again he could completely understand why the boy was so excited. He was an adult now, Gabe remembered how excited he'd been when he had turned eighteen. It was going to be a new experience for Bill and he was excited to share that with him.

"Happy birthday querido." Gabe purred once he had caught his breath, William had winded him temporarily. "You're so impatient," he laughed, "they're all laid out on the chair for you." Gabe pointed over to where the pile of presents were, they were wrapped up, clumsily at that, so that Bill couldn't tell what they were. "Open them!"

<div align=center>William pressed a series of excited little kisses to Gabe's face, before struggling over to the other side of the room and bundling the little collection of presents up. He was too excited to deal with wrapping paper, and all in a matter of seconds the paper was all over the floor and he was clutching whatever had been in it to his chest. The pyjamas he'd been given were light green, with darker green dinosaurs patterned across them. He'd probably wear them out now until there was nothing left of them, after all, William was dressed in his pyjamas more often than not. He'd made himself so excited he was beginning to feel queasy, but that probably wouldn't stop him from eating the entire cake Gabe had bought.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" The boy squeaked, grabbing another package and tearing it open. Most of them were first editions that were altogether quite difficult to get. William stacked them neatly in a pile next to him, and placed the folded pyjamas next to them. He placed the card open on top of the stack of books, he'd giggled at the front of it. The boy pushed himself to all fours, shuffled over and clung to Gabriel's legs. "I love you. Look at all these things. Look at all these things all for me."</div>

"Yes silly of course they're all for you," Gabe grinned. It was so rewarding to see the teen so excited and happy. He could tell that Bill was genuinely thrilled to get the presents and that he actually appreciated Gabe's effort. Briefly Gabe wondered if they were the only presents the boy was going to get that year but he banished that thought from his mind as he didn't want it reaching Bill's. He didn't want him to be sad on his birthday.

"You're very welcome," Gabe answered. "But there's one last thing I still have to give you," he smiled, "I think you're going to like it a lot." Hopefully it'd be his favourite out of them all. Gabe went and grabbed it out of his closet where he'd left it, it was a cute little jumper that'd probably be a bit big on Bill but would be snug .

<div align=center>William was technically an adult by now, but he'd never been more childlike. It hadn't even been this bad at Christmas, and Christmas had been exciting. He struggled up and snatched the last present from the older boy. It was cute and soft. A little too big for him, but that only meant it would fit him for a long time. He giggled, and struggled into it, putting it on over the backwards jumper he was currently wearing. The boy purred softly, climbed up onto the bed and snuggled in one corner, tugging the bed sheets up and nestling himself down in them. Though, his eyes wandered across the cake a moment later.

He struggled up from the bed, flinging the covers back and crossing the room again. "Can I eat this? Can I eat all of this? What flavor is it? Is it chocolate?" He asked, all very very quickly. It might not be such a good idea to give the boy sugar right now, he was already excited enough. That didn't stop him from taking cake, though. It's my birthday. I'll do what I want. "I like this jumper it smells like you." He drew himself away from the counter with the cake on and shuffled over to the chest of drawers on one side of the room, picking up the little bottle of cologne that was there, and proceeding to drench himself in it. </div>

Gabe had to smile as the teen put on the jumper. It suited him perfectly, apart from being a little too big. He looked adorable , as cute as a button one could say. Gabe wanted to kiss the boy all over, and even do more than that. Have you ever had birthday sex, Bill? Of course the boy hadn't yet, but he soon would. Gabe hadn't meant for Bill to actually hear that right now though, so he swiftly moved on in case he had.

"Yes! You can do what you want, it's your birthday!" Gabe laughed, it was good to see Bill having an appetite for something for a change. The boy was so childlike now, you wouldn't think he was eighteen, but the innocence and excitement weren't bad things. Gabe'd rather them any day over how depressed the boy had been the past few months.

"Really?" Gabe laughed, "that's strange, it's new!" But he had kept it in his closet so it must have mixed with the scents from the other clothes in there. "I'm glad you like it though."

<div align=center>William evidently flinched at the thought, shot Gabe a frown and pretended it had never been thought about. His mood had changed suddenly, and everything became just a little bit awkward for him. He cleared his throat quietly, shifting a little and tugging the jumper back over his head. He folded it up and placed it with the little pile of presents that he'd made, and took the jumper he'd already been wearing off, to switch it around to the right way. "No thank you." He mumbled quietly, shaking his head a little and shuffling backward a short way. Gabe seemed to forget that William could hear his thoughts, all too frequently.

"Uh... Yeah." He laughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck. He wasn't all that sure what to say now, it probably wasn't a good idea to mention things like that when he was in this state of mind, or at all, in fact, for the most part. William let out a short sigh, and refused to hold Gabe's eye any longer, it was evident that he was altogether very embarrassed now. He wanted to run away all of a sudden, his mind rifled through various excuses that he had to leave, but he couldn't think of any that questions wouldn't be asked about.</div>

For crying out loud Gabriel, this is why you always mess everything up. Guard your thoughts, Gabe had turned a nice shade of crimson. He ran a hand through his hair, well, this is awkward .

"I," Gabe started, shaking his head, "forget I..thought about that." He coughed, "if you don't want to that's fine, I'm not gonna force you to...please don't leave though." He could tell that William wanted to.

"I'll get a knife to cut the cake," Gabe decided, he was being all too obvious about changing the subject. But surely William would want the relief? Clearly his boyfriend was embarrassed too.

<div align=center>William would have much rather just left at this point, a fleeting thought crossed his mind that said it was a shame he'd fallen out with Micheal. That thought was banished almost instantly though, I hate him. He coughed again, and glanced tentatively toward the door. The boy was feeling prickly and uncomfortable, it was unpleasant and he didn't like it. "You always forget I can hear you." He mumbled softly, scowling at the older boy. He wished he'd be a little more careful, but then again it irritated Bill when Gabe trod on eggshells the whole time. I'm not that sensitive, am I?

He got a little twang of guilt over from Gabe's direction and flinched. He didn't really feel like cake anymore, but he supposed Gabe had gone to all that trouble to get a cake. He'd eat a little and then go. He didn't have any lessons today, but he could go and find his other friends to talk to. "Okay." He answered quietly, glancing nervously over to the Latino and running a hand through his hair. His mind had wandered when his excitement had dropped, they didn't even send a card. No phone calls. No texts. He drew his knees into his chest, and leaned backward against the wall.</div>
