Angelo sighed. He sighed a lot. Really, his every interaction with Desmond could have been replaced with a giant sigh without significantly changing anything.
"Yes," Angelo said. "And maybe. I can probably get them to waive it. Things were messy after the party, and they were even more messy after the virus. It's probably still sitting there, they normally don't auction them for six months."
It did seem to be moving things in a slightly more positive direction, at least.
"So if you get your van, you'll be able to sleep in there, and that... well, it won't be good, but at least it's better?"
A small victory.

Desmond tilted his head a bit. He wanted his van back not because it was his but because it was somewhat important and all. "Back to living in the van huh....great." Now that he thought about it, Desmond wondered if his weed was still in the van.
Desmond stared at Angelo a bit and just kept staring. "Why are you trying to help a lost cause? I mean is it because you are a goodie two shoes cop. You have zero reason to help me after all." It was true, other than getting off on helping people there really wasn't much a reason to help Desmond. "Seriously, I literally brought the rats to test something....plus I owe them."
Desmond patted one of the rats heads and picked it up. "So what I'm thinking is you help me get the van back aaand then I get my Van Hobo title back. Then I will forever be out your....." Desmond took a moment and several looks at Angelo's hair. "Your oddly perfect hair."

Angelo didn't really like the idea of Desmond living in the van. Really, he'd rather Desmond have just accepted government assistance, moved into an apartment, and been done with it.[/CENTER]
Really, though, what was with people asking Angelo what do you get out of this?
"Did it occur to you I might be a cop because I wanted to help people? I don't like the idea of you just sleeping on the street. You don't exactly have what I'd consider a refined sense for danger. If I was just talking about getting you out of my hair, I'd force you into government funded housing." Not that he could really make Desmond stay in government funded housing. All he could really do was recommend it as an option.

His expectations for that answer was legit just let down. HE WAS EXPECTING SOME HEROIC MOVIE STYLE ANSWER but no it was just the good ol "I'm a cop who wants to help people" Desmond eyed Angelo for a bit.
Have you know Desmond has a very refined sense in danger! He avoids all the super shady people he can't help if shady people and shady things just sorta happen to cross him, such as glowing mushrooms. Okay maybe Angelo was right.

Angelo folded his arms over his chest, a frown forming on his face. He didn't like it. He didn't want to have to drag someone kicking and screaming towards something that was good at him. Even if Desmond sighed and admitted it, the blah blah blah just rubbed Angelo the wrong way. He couldn't force him. He wasn't really looking for Desmond to be thankful, but he was looking for some kind of acknowledgement that he wasn't wasting his time.
"Desmond," Angelo said. "Are you taking this seriously? Like, for real. I don't want to do all this work pulling resources to get you a place to stay and then, whoops, you're gone the next night. I don't know how you ended up on the street, or what you did before. I don't know jack shit about you, so don't act like I said you're a kid who needs a babysitter."
He wasn't really mad--just a bit frustrated--but it definitely showed on his face.

Angelo wasn't quite upset, but he definitely was frustrated. "I am taking this the exact amount of seriousness required. And the thing is, you can't stay here. Not long term. It's not my house. I let you stay over tonight because Jack was out, but that was really the extent of things. I can't just hide you in a closet and hope he doesn't notice."
The fact that Desmond was starting to creep towards the front door wasn't lost on Angelo, and he just frowned all the more as he noticed.

Desmond just opened the door to let the rat family leave and turned back to grin at Angelo. "Yes I figured!" Oh wait he was forgetting the leftover pizza. "I will leave and never return to these lands of...Fluffyhills. No? Okay I tried.."
The hobo just went all stealth like and quickly to grab the pizza box and then headed back to the door. "Well Mr. Fluffy Cop thank you for the pizza we appreciate it and also thank you for the minor entertainment!" Which was going to be left unsaid on why he was entertained.
"I'm kidding....sorry for...." Was Desmond really sorry? He wasn't sure if he was or wasn't. "Beeeeeing a what's the word uh uh...." He shrugged and just did a mock solute with his free hand. "I will see you nevah! Unless I get arrested or end up seeing something crazy happen and have to be a witness......HAVE FUN WITH WHATEVER! Leaving now, k thanks, buh bye."
And just like that he was out of there with some free pizza.
