Shay set her backpack on the floor beside her chair. It was early morning -- seven a.m. to be precise -- on a Saturday; the day children should have been sleeping in. It wasn't that Shay would have still been in bed at this time, but she did resent having to be here and working on school.

Why was school even a big deal? She could do plenty in life without school. She could work for Vito and Klaus, get into freelance work. The world was open to her. With a sigh, Shay rubbed her face vigorously before scanning library for her tutor. The school had picked him out for her. She didn't know who he was, and she didn't have a name for him, but apparently he was good.

It was sad to recognize how much the library had lost. So many old books. Some of them, Shay thought could never be replaced. She puffed out her cheeks and rested her face in her palm.

Today was the day Kaiser had to pay for a certain "incident" he caused. Not really going into detail on the incident other than him committing a string of senior pranks for the remainder of the school year. He then got caught and had a choice to serve several days of detention or help some student with their grades.

So that's why he was floating around the library. It was a drag, he could have been out taking pictures and planning more pranks but he's stuck here helping this student like some form of community service, they even gave him a form the other student had to sign to proof he actually did help.

It didn't take long to find the mystery student in the Library since it was a Saturday and early in the morning. Kaiser floated over to the girl who had her face in her palms for some reason and dropped a stack of books of the core subjects on the table and waved to the girl. "Hey, I'm Kaiser. I guess I'm supposed to be your tutor uh..." He didn't really get her name and sorta just looked at her for a moment. "Anywaaaaaay so tell me what you need help with and we can start from there?"

As he talked he pulled back his hair and tied it back to keep it from falling in front of his face. Also Andy is there just chilling on top of the stack of books.

Shay's head snapped up when a loud slam sounded through the otherwise quiet library. Her breath hitched. The first thing Shay noticed (and it did distract her, she'd admit) was he was a ghost. She knew that. She felt it. Ghost had the tendency to find her, especially the lost ones, but he had neither found her nor seemed lost.

She blinked dumbly before shaking off the odd feeling. "It's Shay," she informed him when she realized he was stumbled. So they hadn't told him her name either? Pleasant. "Kind of everything, but we can start with history."

She squinted. "How old are you? You don't see that much older than me, but I've never seen you in any of my classes or anything."

Shay noticed the turtle, but she didn't know if she should have mentioned something about it. After some thought on it, she pointed to Andy. "And that's your pet....?" He brought his pet along to tutor her? That was strange.

Kaiser has this tendency to normal not do things most people normally do. Like instead of actually pulling out a chair to sit down on, he got a chair but just floated above the seat. It can be the same for walking, he never actually walked since dying and just floats around everywhere.

He just floated above the seat with his legs crossed. "Oh Shay, right Hello!" Kaiser pulled out a large history book from the top of the stack and opened it up and once he did that he then placed Andy on top of his head. "Uh history....what exactly about history you need to study? Do you need a certain section or just enough to pass an upcoming test?" He now had to say goodbye to his Saturdays wouldn't he?

The boy floated upside down (With Andy still on his head) and flipped through pages of another history book. His eyes peered from over the book as Shay asked him about his age. "I'm thirteen. As for not seeing me in any of your classes, it's because I'm a senior." He said like it wasn't a big deal. Well the reason behind that was mostly because returning back to life with no memory and only a member card to the library caused him to just hang around it during the first week. "Uh How old are you?"

With the mention of Andy, Kaiser floated up right and held the turtle up for Shay to see. "Yeah, his name is Andy and he's more family than a pet. Also let's not get too sidetracked from the task at hand." Kaiser placed the turtle on the table and picked up the history book once more. "Do you have any pens, paper, and or index cards?"

Oh yeah, Kaiser isn't good with teaching people or never even tried too so this will be a challenge for him.

"History of the Island," Eroshay said unhelpfully. She sighed, trying to find a sub-category of that, too, but that just seemed too easy. "All I know is that pirates founded it, so I have the basics, I just need help with the finer points."

Shay wanted to tilt her head when he drifted upside down, still reading the book. Was he just showing off or did he even realize he was doing it? Wouldn't it be hard to read a book upside down?

"You're a senior? Like, in high school?" Was he one of those immortals that still went to high school? And was that a rude question to ask? "I'm twelve and in seventh grade. So, either you're a genius, or you're not the age you look?"

Shay wanted to ask him how she looked through a ghost's eyes. She knew she had the tendency to be a kind of beacon to both spirits and all death-related things. Now wasn't the time, though. She needed to get her grades up. That was more important, just barely.

"Pencils and paper," Shay said as she pulled a pencil from behind her ear and a notebook from her bookbag. Shay found herself staring at Andy. Cute turtle. "No index cards, though."

The boy flipped through the book stopping on the chapter which was mostly about the pirates and how they found the island. This was mostly the dates and description of the journey so he assumed they could start there.

With the mention of him being a senior. That's sorta a bit complicated story to explain other than when he died he kinda just stayed at a Library and basically studied. That was literally the first thing he did, haunt the library. Floating upright now Kaiser nervously smiled. "Um...I'm special? Yeah I mean I guess you can say I'm smart...if I would have known that actually trying hard on that test was going to make me a senior I would have failed it on purpose."

Once she pulled out the paper the boy was still trying to figure things out on how to actually go about the tutoring. "Well we can do without the index cards but first tell me everything you know about the island."

There was a brief moment before he spoke again. "Okay forget studying for the moment, We should actually get to know each other if this will be a thing. If you have anything you want to ask me ask away!" It was kinda weird tutoring a complete stranger after all.

"You don't want to be a senior? Get out of school early, get into college, and get along with your life." Shay shrugged. It came to mind that perhaps Kaiser, being a Ghost and all, didn't age. Being a child forever seemed like the worst thing ever to Shay. She felt it was taking long enough to grow up now, imagine if she never could? Moving on.

"I know it was discovered by pirates in the late 1800 hundreds and was used as a haven, but the school itself wasn't built until--" Shay cut off as Kaiser asked her about herself. It was becoming clearer to her that Kaiser didn't know how to tutor. Why was he here, then? Was she some weird experiment of his to see how good he was at teaching? What the hell was going on? She'd play along for now, though his line of questioning gave her noticeable pause.

"Uh, all right." There was something she wanted to ask, even if it had less to do with him as a person. "What is it like, being dead? What do I look like to you? Ghosts have always been attracted by my presence. Am I glowing or something?" She wanted to ask what am I?, but that wasn't something she thought he would know. Of course, Shay asked the sensitive questions first. It was her way, the only way she knew.

He had to pause and actually think about that one. "Well....Yeah but at the same time going to college at such a young age wouldn't be fun." A kid at a crazy college party doesn't sound to great to him. More to it he kinda had all the time in the world now since he's dead. He really wasn't moving on any time soon nor did he want to.

When Shay began with the history Kaiser shook just shook his head. "The island was founded in the in the early 1400's by the pirates. In the late 1800's Cordelia Moor had came and claimed the island and had the school built. You just got your dates mixed up." Well he did still have to be a tutor and so he was going to try at the best of his ability to teach. "I guess you can write that down if you like?"

Then the question came in. The one he had got used to being ask along with the other one of how he died. "Being dead is great. Well sometimes it is other times it's not. I can't physically age anymore which is kinda lame and I can't really smell or taste and feel. Other than that I can do cool ghost stuff like float, turn invisible, and phase through objects." He said so as he turned invisible. While invisible he picked up a book and waved it around. "Boo! I'm the ghost that hunts the library and scare people for not being silent." He said jokingly. Reappearing he was grinning as he looked at the pencil. "And I can also do this!" he shouted, like a whisper shout. The pencil just seemed to come to life as it moved on it's on and floated up and balanced perfectly on the tip of his nose.

Done with playing around a bit and placing the pencil back he went to answer her next question which was not the usual question he got...or ever got. "Ghost are attracted to you...um maybe they thought you were cute? I don't know and I don't see any glowing either. Well at the moment anyway. So can I ask why you thought you were glowing?"

"I don't imagine college would be fun at any age you went." Shay wasn't big on school. Sure, she'd go for it and do her best (somewhat), but she wasn't a partier, and she always had more important things on her mind than education. All the influential people Shay knew hadn't even attended school. Lucky.

Ah, see why she needed help? Shay couldn't even remember the dates. Her cheeks tinged a light red, and she scrubbed at them to mask their color some. "Right." Shay took her pencil, happy for the distraction of writing. She leaned forward and wrote the dates and description in slow, careful handwriting. It gave her time to think and stuff away her humiliation. History was so dull. Why did Shay care what some old, dead dudes had done? Okay, that was the embarrassment talking,

She was able to look up and meet his eyes again once he started messing around with her pencil, which she released to him without trouble. When she was younger, she had practiced balancing a pencil on her nose and even managed to get decent with it. It was all in the placement. His enthusiasm was enough to make Shay smile. "I'm glad you enjoy Undeath so much; not many seem to. I know I wouldn't." Shay had no experience with being dead, but she figured she wouldn't want the immortality. She had always been nervous about the idea of being immortal. That was too much loss in her opinion.

Again, her face took on a bright red hue, and Shay leaned her head and body, so some of her hair fell in front of her eyes. "Not that kind of attraction. I just meant they tend to seek me out when I'm around. I'm kind of a personal beacon to them, which is why I thought I might glow or something. I don't know the ins and outs of it all, honestly. The ghosts I talked to usually just repeat themselves."

Shay paused, debating what more she should say. Mentally shrugging, the girl added, "I have some powers revolving around the undead in general. I can see spirits most can't and danger and darkness like being around me. I'm not sure why, but I've always wondered. I figured meeting a ghost who could hold a conversation was a good way to understand some things."

"Yeah College is just a few more years in school that you have to pay for of stuff I can learn for free off the internet. Yet you need college to get good jobs unless you somehow get lucky and just get rich and famous however the experience and meeting others in college is fun...or how movies show it anyway."

Kaiser grinned seeing when Shay smiled, mission accomplished. "See tutoring can be fun too." Yes he was trying to make this fun rather than the boring read this, read that, answer these questions, and write down those words blah blah blah. That can get pretty boring. "We have like an hour or two right? Any ideas on how to make teaching you stuff fun for yourself?"

Kaiser didn't realized what he said until he noticed Shay blushing. "Oh....OH that attraction. Pfft yeah I knew that and also you met some weird ghost or maybe I'm the weird ghost. I wasn't really given an instruction manual on how to be a ghost."

The more Shay talked the more interesting it got causing Kaiser to pull out a journal. "That's something. Death, Darkness and Danger. The three D's. Hmm You want to know what you are and I like mystery's. All we need is a van maybe a few others and a dog and we can go on a hunt." Kaiser love things like this besides his love for taking pictures and scaring people investigating paranormal stuff like such was also fun! "Well I'm not sure what you are, maybe your gifted like those people who claim to be able to talk to spirits. Either way you got my help!" Nope it's too late, he already decided he was going to help her even if she didn't want it.
