"Luckily, Manta Carlos' college is free," Shay commented. She wondered what it would be like to seek college elsewhere. She didn't think Klaus would appreciate her leaving Manta Carlos, though, besides, it was a long time off.
"Oh, uh, I guess just talking about it? Maybe interesting obscure facts? Mostly, I just find it all boring, you know? It feels kind of useless to me. I heard that thing where you give someone an M&M or something when they answer things right. It's a way to condition people. Maybe that would work."
Shay tried to grin genuinely, but she couldn't. It made her nervous, this lack of understanding. She should have known more when it came to her body and her magic. "I think it's you. You're the only one who didn't... I don't know, aimlessly wander toward me. Wait, why do we need a van, people, and dogs? And we're all gifted, aren't we? That's why we're here."
Shay drummed her fingers on the table, then scooted over beside him, squinting. "You can't die again, can you? I could... probably touch you without visions." She paused, then, realizing how he might take that, Shay shook her head. "That's part of the powers. I see death when I touch people. It's why I wear gloves."
"So you want rewards. Hm." searching in his bookbag he pulled out a bag of fruit snacks. "Well I have these here. Oh and if you have any homework I can help with that. It would probably be better that way than going over an entire chapter."
It seemed like Shay didn't get the reference, bummer. "You know like Scooby-doo?" Please not be one of those kids who never heard of that show. It felt like some times he was the only one to watch all and every single episode including the movies.
"Eh?" That came out of knowhere being asked if he can't die again. He was sure he couldn't unless it was possible to be a ghost of a ghost. "No. I don't think I can get any deader than this." Then she went on about visions and seeing death. So she can see when a person dies when she touched them at least that explained the gloves. "You can try if you want to. I don't think you would see anything." he can kinda get her caution. Seeing someone die isn't really great and he can still remember how he died. Sadly it's the only thing he remembers before becoming a ghost.

"Oh, right." Of course, Shay knew what Scooby-doo was. Who didn't? She didn't watch it (or any television) much, but she knew enough about it. She felt stupid for not having caught his joke but shrugged it off. "I have an essay I gotta do. I'll write it while we talk, how does that sound?"
She took off her gloves, slow and deliberate, laying them on the table before turning to Kaiser and reaching out hesitantly. "Mind if I try some skin contact? I want to test if I can touch you or not. If you really can't die, I shouldn't get any visions."
With that, Shay laid her hand on his arm and closed her eyes, prepared for something nasty and partially traumatic, but nothing came. The girl breathed out slowly.
He tapped his finger on his chin when she mentioned the essay. "Essay on what? I could help unless your not supposed get help on it." Yeah as long as he knew what it was on about a quick search in the library and Shay will have the information she needed.
Kaiser watched as she removed the glove and explained what she was doing. He doesn't really let people touch him however he let this slide. "Mm, okay sure." Well he hoped he couldn't actually die again. Dying twice would be weird. He felt her hand press against his skin, then he waited for something. "Oh, it's just an essay about..." she tapped her pencil on the table, "heroes and... stuff." Her cheeks flushed. "I don't need help with it. That's why I suggested we just talk while I write it. Truthfully, I didn't want a tutor; I just need one. But I guess no one ever really want a tutor?"
Shay didn't touch him for long. It was always awkward feeling someone, even innocently, when it meant so much. Touch was intimate; Shay knew that all too well. "No death," she confirmed with a pleased smile. That made... two? Three people? Four, maybe? Yes, about four people Shay could touch. The numbers were starting to add up. Good.
She slipped her glove back on. "Yeah, it does, but you get used to it. Honestly, it's not so bad when I'm dealing with older kids and adults, it's the young kids I hate being around. They always try to touch my face. Sometimes I wish I could walk around with a ski mask on, but I think that would be a bit much, don't you agree?"
She sat back in her seat before starting in on her essay, handwriting not neat but readable. "You don't seem like you know what you're doing. What made you decide to be a tutor?"
"Heroes and stuff? So average day heroes, people who you think are heroes or actual superheroes?" Kaiser was still trying to get an idea of what this essay was about despite her not needing help. Sadly he couldn't help with any of it anyway. Heroes are just false hope to him, people making promises nearly impossible to keep.

"Everyday heroes," Shay said offhandedly. She'd have agreed with Kaiser about his sentiments. At least, partially. Eroshay was pretty damn sure there was no reason for her to be writing a paper on this, and really, she couldn't think of a single hero she had.
"I'm not sure? Maybe it's a little kid thing. I'm talking up to six years of age, though, so some of them should know better. I just know it's happened more than I'd like."
So her predictions had been correct. Somewhat. She was a test subject. Great. Kaiser was cool, so it didn't bother her as much as it could have. "I'm just...lazy, I suppose." Shay glanced at her paper. "No interest in school and a lack of interest makes it difficult for me to want to do the work." She scowled, then shrugged.
"I'd prefer you as a photographer, as well. No offense, or insult on your tutoring abilities. I just don't like tutors or school work. This is a waste of both our times, I think."
"Ah right younger kids." Kaiser didn't nor actually had to deal with people touching his face. It was just weird to him....eh with the exception of one person anyway.

She had said this was a waste of their time, but Kaiser looked like he was really trying to do this whole tutoring thing. What, was he nervous she'd mention if he slacked off? Or was he just a good person? She drummed her fingers on the table in lazy thought. She outta help him out.
Shay leaned over her paper and scribbled a few things down. "That might help, finding a way to make things more interesting for myself. I could read ahead, find interesting facts. I could probably skip a grade if I caught myself up and did as well as I could."
Her expression relaxed into a genuine smile. Shay shrugged. "Not everyone is meant to be a teacher. Silly they made you do this. Did you bring any of your pictures along? I can make a deal with you. If you show me some of your photos, I'll do better in school and tell them you taught me well."
"Skipping a grade huh? Well maybe you should you can get out of school faster that way after all!" Kaiser was now floating upside down as he took out his camera and examined it. He did his usual habit of adjusting the lens and checking the SD card in it. "Or you can....not skip grades and find a good way to enjoy school!"
With the mention of a deal; Kaiser floated upright and returned his focus on Shay setting his camera down. "So you are saying if I just show you some photos I took you would do better in School?" he took a moment to think then once done he went into his bookbag and pulled out a photo album. "So will this do? It's mostly a bunch of pictures of me, Andy, and my girlfriend. Some photos of nature and possible creepy stuff like....that one time I went to like this pseudo five nights a freddy's place. Bunch of pictures of me scaring people too!" He slid the book over to Shay and smiled. "So I think I'm going to accept this deal."

"So you are saying if I just show you some photos I took you would do better in School?" he took a moment to think then once done he went into his bookbag and pulled out a photo album. "So will this do? It's mostly a bunch of pictures of me, Andy, and my girlfriend.
