Private Finished Well, Dog My Cats

The girl sighed as she finished the last of her dessert, flicking the edge of the glass it was in with one of her clawed fingers and nearly toppling it over. Now that the treat was gone, she was once again left only with the weirdo in front of her, or so it seemed.

“If dat happened, I’d jus disappear again…”

A notion that made her wonder if she could even return to her original life of Barghest. It’d probably be rather difficult after learning the pleasures of more intelligent and humanoid life that she was given on this island.

“Dat aside, I migh’ just bring ya into dat arena so I can actually claw those eyes out!”

She’d point at Kon, her fangs glimmering a bit as she spoke. But her expression was not one of anger or annoyance. It was surprisingly neutral as if she grew somewhat bored with being overly expressive.

“…is dat bread any good..?”

With little else to do, Kuro just rested one of her hands on the table while the other one bent so that she could support her face with the palm of her right hand, an awfully neutral and bored expression staring right back at the changeling as he continued to eat his share.

“Ya got awfully sharp tongue for someone with no fightin’ spirit.” What if someone way less patient than her got involved with him and then just decided to punch him square in the face? Thankfully that was not something that really worried Kuro at all, even if it did happen.

In fact, she would probably quickly take out her phone to record such a sight. But now, she could only roll her eyes at the comment tossed back at her. “Yer not even wrong, just keep it. Still gonna think of ya as a miser tho.”

Blinking couple of times, Kurome appeared somewhat surprised. She didn’t necessarily expect him to just accept her borderline insult. But perhaps she should have expected something like that from the likes of Konpeitō. Of all the supernatural entities the girl had met on this island, he might have been the weirdest one.

“Well, not like it’d be any good if ya just took all that other folk say and didn’t retort at all. Weaklings like that should just stay in their rooms all day long.” Looking to the side, she saw her own reflection in the window of the shop and sighed. Sometimes she caught herself being like that too, growing soft.

But when the man suggested leaving, she assumed a somewhat more comfortable position with both of her hands on the table. “Gonna be on yer way, huh? Wait, why are ya even wasting yer time with me if ya got such important business coming up anyway?” Yup, she was still unable to properly understand this man even after they spend such a ‘long’ time together.

“A nice conversation, ey?” The girl couldn’t help but smirk at that. She couldn’t deny that she had at least some fun with this strange man. Even if how they came about eating in this pastry shop was a strange one, much like him. At the very least they did not end up clawing each other’s eyes out.

“Dubiously hittin’ on waitresses for dat reason is still weird tho~” She stuck her tongue out at him for a moment as she hopped out of the chair and stretched. For how long they spent together today, it felt much shorter to her. Was that because she actually had fun?

“Den if ya ever decide to crawl out again and see me on a street, make sure to treat me to something delicious again!” Spinning on the heel of her boot, she turned to face the man and assumed a surprisingly bashful position with her hands behind her back.

“Then I suppose I’d better keep my claws sharpened.” She remarked, one last bit of teasing. As much as she disliked dealing with annoying people, at the very least this one was proud to be as such. And that counted for something, probably. Now that they had to part ways, she left the shop along with him.

Once outside, she would give me a hearty wave of goodbye and headed in pretty much the exact opposite direction. Taking a quick glance at her phone, she realized just how long they spent talking, too. “Guess I’ll skip the gym today…” She remarked for herself and headed to the dorms, wondering if she would actually meet the man again at some point.
