Today was a day for Konpeitō to give back to the school. He had volunteered to be someone that the school could ask to show new students around when they arrived. Today was one of those days Kon was free to do just that, so he waited in front of the administration office, waiting for the new student he was supposed to guide. Basté Bywan was her name, if he remembered correctly. Another student was supposed to accompany them too. Even better! The more the merrier.

Lethargic. That was a way to describe Basté's look right now, as the temperature was a little lower than what she could usually manage, and that had the orange-haired girl wearing a leather jacket lined internally with faux fur for the warmth, and the jeans were thicker than usual. In a disposable plastic cup filled with hot coffee, to help perk her up. It was working, as she grew more attentive with each gulp.

But who she saw next, standing there near the administration office, has made her pause for a moment. She knew to expect the unexpected, but... "This isn't your average bakeneko!", thoughts followed by a long gulp of coffee, to finish warming herself up and wash away the slowness she felt up to now.

Dropping the plastic cup in the trash, she approached Konpeitō with hastier yet gentle steps, inspecting him all around with sheer curiosity. "I'm overwhelmed by curiosity...", Basté stated openly, and suspecting the inhuman would not appreciate her approach, she was quick to bounce back and bow waist-low, apologizing "Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you, I've just never seen a bakeneko like this in all my time training and it got me really curious!"

Angelo was late, which was some kind of horrible twist of fate. The one time he'd agreed to help out with welcoming (because there were, for some reason, a ton of students coming in), and there he was, late.

He wasn't even sure who he was heading for. He had a name. But the moment he got in range, he knew at least he was close.

Oh wait, there was Kon.

"Kon!" He called out, heading over shortly after a woman had. "You're doing the tour, right?" It was only once he'd said it that his brain caught up that Basté Rose Bywan was nearby, and he'd either passed them or-

Angelo's eyes finally caught up to his brain, and he actually looked at the woman who was by Kon. The woman he'd written off as being a teacher. The woman who he felt like he was breaking his neck to look up at.

Holy crap she was tall.

"...Miss Bywan?" He said, feeling intensely confused.

Kon eyed the stranger warily as he was looked upon. He took a few steps back. Soon after, it looked like the girl noticed his discomfort and backed off herself. Not letting the situation become uncomfortable, he gave a hearty laugh.

"You're okay! I'm no average bakeneko because I'm not one! I'm just a human given some enhancements. I am pretty unique." He was made to be.

Oh look, a distraction. Angelo came running over, seemingly also volunteering to help a student. "Yep! Looks like you're my partner."

Now to see if the tall girl was the one they were supposed to show around.

"Enhanced human?", if he were an alien, she would have fallen for it, being the child of an alien herself. But Kon's appearance had really puzzled her. Perhaps he was into body modification? For Basté, who only seen people with saline injection at worst until now, this was some hardcore modification! One fairly puzzling at that. Ah, at least animosity has been averted. And right on time too...

It was not weird for her to have to look down, and seeing people look up to her too. "Yes, that is me, Basté Rose Bywan, pleased to be acquainted.", it then caught up with her, the fact that she had to be guided through the facilities by someone... And this someone is.... "Ah, that explains how we came to meet at the exact same place. ", her head turned to Kon, bearing a hearty smile.

"Enhanced human," Angelo said after a moment, "is really just a blanket term for mostly human with other stuff on top." That was probably as good a place to start with the tour. While they'd be showing her around the facility, there was also plenty of social stuff that was probably better to touch on as they went. "I was bound with an extra-dimensional entity, and while it's gone, its left me with some non-human tweaks."

Which was a vast, vast oversimplification, but it wasn't like he needed to get into details. "Metahuman is another term that gets used a lot."

Thank god for Angelo. Kon often forgot that his past was, to most people, very dark and uncomfortable to know about. He was just about to explain how he was made when Angelo cut in and gave a general answer. Starting off the new student's day with a "So I made to be a slave!" would have been one of Kon's most idiotic moments.

"Yep! I am... er... was—It's complicated. I was a human with some cat features and cool upgrades. Now I'm a shape-shifter with cat features and cool upgrades!" He stepped back from the group, then twirled himself to show off his long, furry tail, his digitigrade legs, and his furry hands.

"Anyways, names! I'm Konpeitō Hatsu. Most people call me Kon. Happy to meet you, Basté!"

It was still hard for her to grasp what it all meant. Up to now, everything was simple for a child of an alien, there were humans, aliens, demons, spirits, Gods... And that was about it? She wished so, but Bastet knew there was more... "Just Bastet is fine too, Kon and... I... Didn't get... Your name, did I?", her eyes had gone from Kon to Angelo, who she wasn't fully acquainted with.

Pulling the collar of her jacket up a little, Basté worried at the possibility of her body temperature going down again soon, while awaiting for further details from Angelo and how their tour will proceed. Hopefully a brief stop for another coffee was in order, it was much necessary.

"Oh, not yet," Angelo said. He paused, looking at the sheer size of her, and then offered his hand, holding it a tiny bit higher than he would have otherwise.

"Angelo Genovese. Student council president, high school senior. I've been here a bit under a year now." Probably good to start with that. One year didn't sound like much, but so many people were new that a year felt like a looooong time. "Bastet like the goddess?" Big cat god. That was familiar to him.

"What a detailed introduction. And you're already showing off your intelligence." Kon gave a playful shake of his head and tsked at Angelo. "Already I feel one-upped." He was sure Angelo understood he was only joking, but just in case Bastet didn't, he added a giggle for good measure.

"Oh yeah! No wonder you were so interested in me," he quipped. "But we should get started on the tour, yeah?"
