The first thing most people notice about Wei is that he's remarkably short. Standing at 4'9 while slouching, there aren't many people who have to look up to speak to him except children.
The second thing most people will notice about Wei, is that he is incredibly and unmistakably simian.
As far as proportions and facial features are concerned, he is human enough. His eyes are somewhat large and dark and night, and his nose is somewhat flat--but his frightening long canines and his body, which is mostly covered in light brown fur, betrays that he's not quite human.
Fur covers most of his visible body, including his arms and legs and the sides of his face. However, his chest and hip-area remain mostly hairless. The hair on his thighs is thinner than the hair around his body.
The hair on his head has a different consistency texture than his fur, being thinner and silkier than the rest of him. His hair is long and wild, and he often ties it back with ropes, ribbons, or vines.
His feet are more monkey than human, able to hold things like his hands can. He also has a long, prehensile tail that can also hold and carry some things, like food and small bags.
The species of monkey he is closest to is a Golden Snub Nosed Monkey, though he doesn't have their colorful fur yet. His fur is still mostly brown, and places on his legs and are still gray, showing that he hasn't yet fully matured out of his baby fur.
He can often be seen carrying a gun staff with him.
Personality Description:
Wei Hu Sun's personality begins and ends with his smile. In almost everything he does, he's smiling. It's his coping mechanism to smile through tough situations, strife, and pain. He's a class clown and trickster, and likes to harrass people in mostly small, harmless ways, like flicking acorns at them from the tops of trees, or tying their shoes together. Rarely does he ever feel the need to be aggressive or mean to others, and mostly attempts to befriend most people.
Wei Hu Sun isn't a good talker, and has a habit of confusing himself. He also talks faster than he thinks, and his mouth runs ahead of his mouth.
He's not particularly stupid or smart--a straight C student with the ability to squeeze out Bs and the occasional A- when something really catches his interest.
He likes to read.
[[NOTE: POWERS AND BIO ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BEING CHANGED]]
Powers:
Major Power:
Wei HuSun can summon spirits to do his bidding. He's not the best at it, and most of the time summons spirits who specialize in minor annoyances rather than anything approaching a big bad monster. However, every now and again he summons something a little stronger than he intended to. His skills are still improving.
The spirits include but aren't limited to: The spirit of the pencil lead breaking inside the pencil, The spirit of being just about to sneeze but the sneeze never comes, The spirit of your sock sliding down inside your shoe, and The spirit of your earbuds tangling inside of your pocket.
The summoned spirits usually bestow their blessing (or curse) upon whomever Wei HuSun asks them to and then leaves. He often tries to summon specific spirits to perform pranks.
Minor:
By plucking one of his hairs, Wei can leave a fake copy of himself, allowing his true self to go elsewhere and escape danger. This skill leaves his true self undetectable by others.
He tends to release this trick as soon as he's out of harm's way, but can hold it for about 15 minutes if absolutely necessary. Once released, his fake body turns back into a hair.
The fake body can do nothing more complex than walk in a single direction. It will not turn if it hits a wall or another person, and doesn't react to Wei's name or being spoken to.
[Extend]
Wei can make his staff extend or shorten depending on his needs. By gripping on to one end and saying a word (usually just "extend") he can rocket himself out of danger or push others away. He doesn't need to say a word to make the staff shorter.
Biography:
IMPORTANT: HARI TAKAHIRO CONFIRMED FOR BIOLOGICAL MOTHER
Wei HuSun was born in Turpan City in the Xinjian Uyghur Region of China. His family, however, originated in a small town of other Golden Snub Nosed Monkeys in the Min Mountains, who moved to Turpan just after his older brother finished elementary school.
For as long as he could remember, it has always just been his mother, his brother Wei HouLin (崴猴ç³), and him. As a child HuSun would always look at the other children who came, at the men who carried them on their shoulders and told them stories and gave their mothers kisses on their cheeks. That was his first interaction with the word "father. And that, he knew, was a "normal family".
Wondering about his father plagued most of his young life. Because his mother raised them alone, they struggled financially to make ends meet. From an incredibly young age he watched his mother's health suffer until his brother left school and took a job to support them. From then, things got easier on their mother and she began to get better... but the Wei family continued to live below the poverty line.
Because of this, HuSun had to find other ways to entertain himself while HouLin and his mother worked during the day. Of course he went to school, where he struggled to fit in with the other monkey children because of his short stature, late blooming, and lower income. Yet with his family as busy as they were--coming home exausted just before the young monkey boy would crawl into bed for a late dinner and leaving before the sun--he couldn't really let himself be upset. He had to be the good boy during the day, smiling and happy, but at night he could let himself relax on the rooftops. At night he could scream with his muscles and cry with his sweat. At night he would escape from their hut in the city and explore.
He had always been a curious and an avid explorer, scaling buildings, trees, and ruins with abandon.
One night, as he was scaling his favorite ruin, he noticed a glimmer in the open window. When he entered the dark room, heavy with musty air and dust, he noticed that there were two things. One was a medallion that felt lighter than air in his hands, and the other was a ring of the purest, clearest jade that he could ever imagine. He could sell the gold medallion, he knew, for quite a lot of yuan. He put the medallion around his neck and the ring on his finger, because it would be easier to climb and move if he didn't have to worry about dropping them.
As soon as the medallion settled on his chest, HuSun saw things. His visions transcended his understanding and bright and forbidden colors flashed just in front of his eyes like a light show.
The whole thing only lasted a few seconds, but to Wei it'd felt like years.
After that, the medallion crumbled into dust, now worth nothing.
Feeling sullen, HuSun climbed back down from the ruin to return home before the sky started to lighten and his mom and brother woke up for work.
In his dreams he was visited by a monkey person who called themselves the Monkey King. Monkey King claimed to not be dead, but living on the plain of the Gods and unable to speak to anyone except those who wore the jade ring. They talked through the night in HuSun's dreams, and upon waking found himself with the ability to communicate with spirits not from the same living realm as himself.
The next night, the Monkey King taught him how to leave copies of himself with his hair. He also shared part of the story of his adventures with the monks and Gods in the Jade Palace, like how he learned to take infinite shapes.
The night after, the Monkey King shared his knowledge of staff fighting with the monkey, who followed his lead without question. With a pat on the head and a kind word ("What a dedicated student you are") he bestowed upon Wei a staff of his own, smaller and lighter than the one wielded by the Monkey King, but still relatively ornate and beautiful. Smiling, the Monkey King promised to tell HuSun another important story the next time he decided to fall asleep.
Wei awoke to screaming. He sat up and was immediately embraced by his mother with his brother standing nearby, holding what looked like a forearm-shaped piece of jade. The ring had been cursed, and his brother sold the ring without a second thought while his mother took HuSun to be purified by a local monk in a temple.
When he returned home, he noticed the staff from his dreams was leaning ever-so innocently against the wall.
