Pale, slender fingers rested against the dead bark of the tree. The figure was still, unmoving in the cold autumn wind. Had her chest not been lightly rising and falling, one might have thought her to have been a statue. Lifeless globes of purple stared at the tree with the intensity only she could understand. Anyone else might have thought it impossible for there to be anything in those cold, soulless eyes, but there was something there. It was a lack of emotion; a lack of care.

She slowly took her hand away from the tree, stepping back and exhaling, her breath visible in the cold air. The teenager folded down her black dress and began walking fluidly deeper into the forest, head bowed with silky black hair framing her slowly maturing face. She flowed and held herself in an almost surreal way; in a way that it seemed she wasn't controlling herself. It was phantom-like, but October Hotaru was as alive as the next person. If being numb was considered being alive...

Shapes glided along the floor of the dank forest; or rather, a shape and it's shadow. It ran swiftly through, it's eyes set directly on the young woman. In front of her it stopped, and barred it's teeth. A rumbling voice rang out. "October, You should not come through these forest alone. Word has reached my ear that the academy is taking sides. If not our side, their side, The Angels, I believe their called." The shape edged out into the light, a Siberian tiger, extremely large for it's species. The tiger nodded it's head in a direction and started off at a walk, knowing October would follow.

October slowly came to a stop once the tiger came in front of her. Unfazed, the young woman slowly stood there, perking an eyebrow. The numbness melted slightly to allow room for annoyance as Marine lectured her. "I've no fear, and you should know that," she retorted smoothly. She knew there were sides, but it didn't make her worry. Anxiety was no longer a part of her life. Let those Angels come; she wouldn't care. This island would become a sanctuary of indifference whether it was wanted or not. If they wanted to preserve the academy and the way things were here, they could go do it somewhere else.

As Marine began walking, October followed, one gliding foot in front of the other in silence.

"Thats what I'm worried about, Oct." Marine chuckled. She came to a ledge that had an overview of the academy. There were small figures of student's in the windows or walking around on the campus. The tiger sat. "That place holds many memories, good and bad." Marine turned her head to look at October. "If it's worth remembering, remember it. If not, throw it into the abyss."

Once again, an eyebrow rose slightly. "You're worried about my lack of fear?" she asked. Fear was a good way to be cautious, but so was common sense. October knew very well how to use her brain, and didn't plan on rushing into things that had the word danger written all over them.

"If it's worth remembering, remember it. If not, throw it into the abyss."

There was silence as October dipped her head, remembering everything. Tsim had been the only good memory she had at this place, but he refused to be around her. He thought her near-death experience had been his fault, and she figured they would never be together. She was sick of trying to please everyone and tired of pretending everything was alright. "It's not worth it," she said. "All this academy has done for anyone is hurt them... they say they're here to help... but it's simply a web of lies drawn by a spider and passed down to ignorant flies..."

October lifted her head, looking to Marine. "Is it worth remembering for you?"

Marine watched the student's walk around."Nothing. Not the battle with your sister, nor the curse that is retaking me." Marine turned her neck up slightly to the left to reveal a black spot on her fur and on the skin below it. "It gave me power, I was a fool to give it up for 'love'. It's coming back, so I will be able to use it's power once more..." Marine sighed and laid down, rolling on her back. "With limitations."
