Warning, Over Aggressive Snake

She missed going to school. After nearly a year of running, of always worrying about the next meal, and the next motel she was staying at, she hasn't even had time to think about school. But, even ignoring the school part, just the incentive of free food and shelter made Starlight the perfect place. She had been worried about her eligibility, at first. Cas was the unique one here. The two of them just happened to be a package deal. Or, at least they were until she was dead. Which was probably much sooner than she preferred.

Well, at the end, they'd accepted her and that was all that mattered.

While Starlight seemed perfect, she hadn't, however, considered how twitchy Cas tended to get around magic users of any kind. And Starlight was full of them.

"Stop it." She snapped as Cas draped himself over her shoulders as she walked to the admissions office, baring his fangs and hissing at any person that walked by. While his protectiveness was endearing sometimes, doing it to every person they passed was just rude. Even if some of the people didn't quite look like...people. She definitely saw some wings a couple minutes ago. "Behave Cas."

The snake's head reared back to stare at her, looking affronted at the words. She rolled her eyes, stopping at the door of the admission office. She tapped the top of the snake's head.

"I need you not to attack anyone." She said to him quietly. "So go back to tattoo form."

Cas lowered his head, giving her a almost sulking look. 'Doesn't make a difference.' He whispered in her mind.

"It does. Go." Reluctantly, Cas slid back into the skin of her hand as a tattoo, winding up her arm to curl around her neck. She sighed. What was the point of wearing long sleeves and pants in the summer if Cas was going to flaunt himself in the only place where her skin wasn't covered?

She walked into the admissions office, avoiding eye contact with anyone inside and heading straight for the front desk. She took the papers and the map, taking a seat and starting to fill out a form.

She could feel Cas was already getting restless, twisting around the skin of her neck. He obviously didn't like her being enclosed in a room with people of the school, magic user or not.

One of her teachers had suggested the desk job of sorts, a way of interacting with others that didn't involve chance encounters on the roof every night. Cytus had managed to strike up conversations maybe 20% of the time on said roof. The other 80%, either her demeanor was a put-off, or her prospective talking partner probably simply didn't have the same idea of a conversation.

In the meantime, an outbreak of something had rendered much of the school undesirable to be in; both teachers and students had stayed home, their powers causing wreaking havoc in ways that were at best, unexplained. Cytus however, other than her 'sixth sense' as they call it cutting out occasionally, seemed to be immune.

Although she wasn't much of a talker, being devoid of emotion with her physical body...Cytus was an excellent multitasker. The operator was quite capable of dealing with the administrative needs of the front desk while others were sick, especially given the lack of new students at the moment.

Of course though, she did occasionally get one. The Aridian was sure the girl that had walked in with the tattoo had been a little bit on edge. Every student was for sure, but this one especially. The operator admittedly wanted to know why. Considering that Cytus was the one handling this ladies papers...it was worth giving the conversation thing a try once more.

Clad in a long, slender icy blue and white dress, the operator walked up to the girl, and spoke in a flat monotone-ish voice.

"My name is Cytus; do you require assistance with your enrollment?"

She rushed through the forms as quickly as possible. She wasn't sure she would be able to stop Cas, if he did try to attack anyone. It was just so odd. While Cas lacked a understanding of human manners and social cues, he knew very well that attacking people was not welcome, no matter what.

She had not been paying attention when the snake hissed a warning in her mind, brushing it off as another overreaction, so she didn't notice the receptionist's approach until girl spoke up. Vera looked up, alarmed, and in almost the same moment, Cas leapt out of her skin, hissing. To her shock, he dug his fangs into the girl's arm.

"No!" Horrified, she grabbed his neck before he could do any more damage, wincing and sending him a mental apology when he let out a choking noise. She forced him back into her skin-- something she had never had to do in the past-- and stood, the forms falling out of her lap in her haste. "I'm so sorry." She said quickly. The almost unearthly vibe the girl was giving out was even more unsettling up close, with her too pale skin and the odd markings on her face. She lowered her eyes. "I'm so sorry, um--" She scrambled to remember what the girl had said. "Cytus. He's not poisonous, he, he's not usually..." She let out a frustrated sigh as Cas emerged again, fangs bared. She kept a hand on his body so he couldn't do anything again. "I'm sorry."

She was tempted to make a break for the door before she was inevitably arrested or...something, but this campus was her last chance. She tightened her grip on Cas.

Before the girl even got a chance to respond properly, it appeared that her ability would take hold instead. And literally for that matter, as she screamed for the event not to happen, what looked like an Earth snake managed to cut through the holographic sleeves of the dress and bite down with an incredible CRUNCH into Cytus' arm. The Aridian may have had very little supernatural power compared to many she had met at the school, she did have a decisive advantage here.

A bio-mechanical body.

The bite was not painful, but Cytus did cock her head in surprise, as this was the first time she had ever been assaulted on the planet, maliciously, or by accident. In addition, a silver fluid had started leaking from the wound in an attempt to seal it, not quite blood, but not entirely in-organic as well. The ordeal was over just as quickly as it had started. In all honesty, she was happy to see that small scrapes and bumps were not going to injure her in any permanent fashion.

Stranger yet was that of all the people she had met so far, most students had an innate ability within themselves. It was not channeled through something or someone else.

"Your apology is noted, no permanent damage has been incurred however, so you need not worry."

The snake however seemed a bit more than worried; openly hostile was likely a closer evaluation. That in and of itself was a threat, not to Cytus, but possibly to the students the girl would be sharing a classroom with.

"Your companion seems to be hostile and distrustful of others however. Is there something I can do to allay his aggression? It would be ill-suited if they were to bite less-resilient students or professors."
