Another night, another walk, Eli thought, traipsing through the city strip, as he often did. It began as a way to experience things, and maybe prompt some memories to return, now its just became part of his routine. A way to clear his mind. The fact that he meets interesting people is a bonus.

A voice called out from behind him, disturbing his train of thought. "Hey, you!"

Oh good, someone to talk to. He nodded, delighted with this turn of events. At least for a moment. Turning around, he saw a group of about 5-6 kids around his age. They don't friendly, he realised. One of them carried a knife, and a few were sporting some dangerous claws. One just held up an open hand though, and that one alone seemed more terrifying.

"It's dark," What appeared to be their leader said, trying to sound intimidating, waving the knife carelessly. "So just give your wallet, phone and whatever else you have on you, and we'll be done here. Don't try anything funny." The Guy warned, nudging a finger to a girl behind him. She appeared tired, and her eyes were bugging out as if she hadn't blinked for a while. "Or she'll nullify your powers. And None of us has any clue how long it'll last."

Well, Eli did what any sane person in his situation would do. He ran. It was the start of a new month, so he only just received his allowance, and if he lost that, Eli would have had no money for anything.

He could hear the footsteps run after him, along with a bunch of voices just sounding about from behind him.

"You're an Idiot Jackson, I said we had to corner him!"
"I'm doing the best I can Lia!"
"Shut up the pair of you!"
"I got this."

At that last one, Eli heard a weird 'phoosh' noise from behind him, and as his instincts told him to change direction, he felt a wave of heat pass him. Was that a Fireball? He thought in a panicked state, he ran down the first street he saw, and in a cliche moment, he realised it was a dead end.

Turning around, he saw them closing in. His heart was racing.

"Told ya there was nowhere to run." The leader, possibly Jackson said. said panting. "You put up a good fight though."

"You said nothing." The girl was grasping her knees. She clearly seemed the most unfit of the group. "And this was a fluke. If you listened to me-"

"Lia, shut up!" Jackson turned away from Eli, to face Lia. Taking the opportunity, Eli took another break for it. Before he got too far, Jackson turned back, and reached for him. "Oh no, you do-"

[Time stop activated]

Eli fell back, reacting to the failed grab by the now-frozen thug. "Ahh, another one," Eli said out loud. There was no one to hear him though. "Guess now as good a time as any for it to accidentally activate."

Without any chance of being caught, he moved away from the group of thugs, and hide around a corner. Taking a few deep breathes, he deactivated his power.

[Timestop Deactivated]

Listening to the confusion of the crowd, he pushed himself flat against the wall.

Speech is emboldened.

This island was full of surprises, that much Huilu had realized after spending couple of days here. You never knew what you would find behind the next corner, who you could meet in the next crowd. Huilu loved adventure and exploring and discovery, and on this island she was able to embrace many new things and people. Already she had had many interesting encounters.
Although when it came to encounters this night had been quite predictable.
Huilu was breezing along the strip in her own calm manner, and naturally evoked all sorts of reactions from all sides. Most of the approaches were done by bold, and very much drunk, gentlemen and ladies in search of a companion for the rest of the night. Naturally Huilu turned them all away, maybe having to dodge an eager hand or two. But it was nothing Huilu couldn't handle, and the drunken mind was very suspectible to her calming touch. Just a contact lasting a second was able to calm most. And after Huilu was gone like a cold winter breeze.

Eventually, after a bit of walking, Huilu ended up on a more calm area where the air was filled with a quiet murmur of unseen people. Or so Huilu thought. Suddenly she heard young voices shouting, and down the street she saw one adolescent get chased by a group of other ones. Huilu frowned a bit and walked closer, following the group when it went around the corner. She stepped around the corner as well, just in time to see the chased adolescent trying to make another escape attempt. One of the thugs made a grab for him and Huilu took a step forward, her intention to assist, but then the strangest thing happened. The adolescent disappeared only to appeat around another corner, that was visible from Huilu's position but not from the thugs'. They seemed nd sounded confused, and Huilu suspected they woild eventually found the boy if they kept searching. Huilu hummed a bit in thought, and whistled loudly. The group all turned around to look at her, and she had a calm smile on her face as she pointed with her left index finger, made of ice, down the street to her left.
"I do believe your target went that way. If I heard right he called you "dumb motherfuckers' as he fled."
Thankfully the thugs seemed to be dumb enough to believe Huilu, and she stepped aside as the thugs ran past her. Huilu, not appreciating what the youngsters were doing with their time, decided to be immature and laid a thin layer of ice on the road right before the thugs. They all fell flashily on top of each other, and Huilu smiled slightly. When Huilu was sure the thugs were gone she proceeded to approach the one they had been chasing. Huilu had a gentle smile on her face as she spoke, her tone warm and calm.
"Are you alright, young one? Did they hurt you?"

He had seen the Woman, when time was frozen, but as he was escaping the thugs, ELi had paid her no mind. Escape was the priority, not the frozen face of someone he saw in the street.

Imagine his surprise when she decided to send the Group off, in the wrong direction. Slowly, he stepped out from behind the wall, to see the group slipping on the ice.

"Uh, thanks for that." He said, politely. He may have been save from one group, but who knows what else might happen. "No, I'm alright. Just tired." He did just run about two hundred meters flat out.

Huilu kept smiling a bit as the young boy thanked him, and she shook her head slightly.
"I did what any other decent person would've done. I do not appreciate ganging up on someone, it's what cowards do."
Huilu got serious for a second and if someone was keen enough they vould've discerned that air around Huilu got tiny bit colder. Well, even colder than it already was around her. But it returned back to normal and Huilu dusted her pants a bit.
"I'm relieved you are not injured. One of those young ones looked to have a knife, so I was worried."
Huilu observed the boy, he seemed relatively young, and proper compared to those other teenagers. She hummed a bit and yapped her ice fingers against each other in thought. They let out a small "clink, clink" sound.
"Say young one, what was the trick you used for escaping your pursuers? Was it common teleporting?"

So she was just acting because it was what she thought was the right thing to do? That was good to hear.

He shivered, and chalked it down to just nerves, not realising the air was actually colder. It wasn't something he usually noticed. "I'm not injured, a few minutes later I might have been, though."

At the mention of teleporting, he looked up at her staring directly into her eye. She noticed his movements. But like the rest, only the start and the end. "It's not quite teleporting, I can move between moments. Helps with crossing distances in short amounts of time." Eli nodded. It wasn't like he was hiding his power after all.

Huilu noticed Eli shivering, understanding it was most probably her fault. She took a small step back, because certainly it her aura did not help in this already slightly chilling evening. Huilu also felt shivery, but that was merely because she was weak to changes in temperature.
"Then I'm glad our roads crossed just on the right moment. I do have the capability to fight off some youngsters but I don't wish to use violence."
Huilu shook her head a bit and sighed.

Huilu listened to the boy's explanation with interest that showed clearly in her eyes, though her expression was still set on the small calm smile.
"That's sounds very fascinating. I have never heard of such a thing. Well, I haven't heard of most creatures and abilities on this island. So, it's a form of time travel?"
Huilu tilted her head slightly, crossing her arms loosely and still smiling, curious look in her eyes.
"What is your name, young one? Mine is Huilu. And I presume it is, as I think I'm older than you, proper of me to ask why you are out at this hour? You seem diffrent from the children just now."

"Yeah," She definitely had some kind of ice power, judging from her hands. Eli didn't want to be at the brunt of her attacks.

She was technically correct. "I don't think I know anyone else with this kind of power, so I think it's just me. It's not really time travel by the way. I see time passing, just at a slower rate. Like it just stopped I mean."

Pulling out his phone, Eli was willing to test something. When he touched someone, they also seemed to be able to move when he stopped time. Would it work with Electronic items? He pushed the record video button and just nonchalantly held it at his side.

"I'm Eli. Eli Pelham." He said, nodding. "I just take walks out at this time. It's much more peaceful. Usually."

Huilu listened keenly when the young man explained his ability to some extent, and she nodded along while tapping her ice fingers together in a steady rhytm. Her habit when concentrating.
"That sounds...very interesting. Were you born with this ability? Oh, I'm starting to be nosy again. Please ignore me, I wouldn't for the death of me demand you answer such a personal question from a stranger."
Huilu waved with her hand a bit dismissively, small calm smile on her face. You could say Huilu's resting face was small calm smile.

Huilu watched with confusion and curiosity how Eli pulled out his phone and did something with it. If Huilu saw right he started recording.
"What on Ancients are you doing?"
Huilu looked at the phone that the boy was holding.

Huilu nodded when the boy, Eli, introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you Eli Pelham. Now, I am a stranger, but I cannot with good confidence leave you alone, not after what I witnessed. Let me escort you home, no, just on a safer area. It's not safe for a young person to wander around this place at this hour."
Because although Huilu understood the need to be alone with your thoughts she was a centuries old, and this boy was merely a hatchling.

"Oh, don't worry," Eli said. "I just want to test something."

Mentally he felt a click, and the world went quiet.

[TimeStop activated]

He waved the camera around in a wide arc. Eli didn't move his feet, though he did have to readjust his stance a bit after the momentum of the swing threw him off balance.

[TimeStop Deactivated]

He held up his phone, and stopped the recording, putting it away. "Sorry about that. Didn't want to forget later." Eli had to check the recording later if his phone still worked if he was holding it.

Well, she was being nice, but Eli couldn't accept, he still had a few hours to kill. Putting he hands up in front of him, Eli declined. "Sorry, but no thanks. I'll be fine. Those kinds of guys don't really appear all that often"

As Eli used his timestop ability Huilu did not detect it in any way. But she did notice the slight change in Eli's stance, and hummed a bit in thought to herself. She tapped her ice fingers together, making a quiet "clink, clink" sound.
"Think nothing of it, I understand."
Huilu smiled a bit gently and nodded.

Huilu couldn't help but to frown a bit in worry as Eli refused her offer to escort him home. She realized she must've seemed suspicious. Huilu was used to living in a small community where near everyone knew each other and had no reason to suspect one another. But naturally a young one would need to be cautious of a random lady on the nightly streets. It was common sense,s which Huilu seemed to be lacking when it came to the outside world.
But Huilu smiled a bit and nodded.
"I understand. But...I suppose it would be highly inappropriate to ask if I could walk with you, at least until out of this area. I walked through it and it does not seem like a friendly neighbourhood, even for a local."
Huilu looked and sounded sincere and there was genuine worry in her eyes.
