Eli Pelham
Another night, another walk, Eli thought, traipsing through the city strip, as he often did. It began as a way to experience things, and maybe prompt some memories to return, now its just became part of his routine. A way to clear his mind. The fact that he meets interesting people is a bonus.
A voice called out from behind him, disturbing his train of thought. "Hey, you!"
Oh good, someone to talk to. He nodded, delighted with this turn of events. At least for a moment. Turning around, he saw a group of about 5-6 kids around his age. They don't friendly, he realised. One of them carried a knife, and a few were sporting some dangerous claws. One just held up an open hand though, and that one alone seemed more terrifying.
"It's dark," What appeared to be their leader said, trying to sound intimidating, waving the knife carelessly. "So just give your wallet, phone and whatever else you have on you, and we'll be done here. Don't try anything funny." The Guy warned, nudging a finger to a girl behind him. She appeared tired, and her eyes were bugging out as if she hadn't blinked for a while. "Or she'll nullify your powers. And None of us has any clue how long it'll last."
Well, Eli did what any sane person in his situation would do. He ran. It was the start of a new month, so he only just received his allowance, and if he lost that, Eli would have had no money for anything.
He could hear the footsteps run after him, along with a bunch of voices just sounding about from behind him.
"You're an Idiot Jackson, I said we had to corner him!"
"I'm doing the best I can Lia!"
"Shut up the pair of you!"
"I got this."
At that last one, Eli heard a weird 'phoosh' noise from behind him, and as his instincts told him to change direction, he felt a wave of heat pass him. Was that a Fireball? He thought in a panicked state, he ran down the first street he saw, and in a cliche moment, he realised it was a dead end.
Turning around, he saw them closing in. His heart was racing.
"Told ya there was nowhere to run." The leader, possibly Jackson said. said panting. "You put up a good fight though."
"You said nothing." The girl was grasping her knees. She clearly seemed the most unfit of the group. "And this was a fluke. If you listened to me-"
"Lia, shut up!" Jackson turned away from Eli, to face Lia. Taking the opportunity, Eli took another break for it. Before he got too far, Jackson turned back, and reached for him. "Oh no, you do-"
[Time stop activated]
Eli fell back, reacting to the failed grab by the now-frozen thug. "Ahh, another one," Eli said out loud. There was no one to hear him though. "Guess now as good a time as any for it to accidentally activate."
Without any chance of being caught, he moved away from the group of thugs, and hide around a corner. Taking a few deep breathes, he deactivated his power.
[Timestop Deactivated]
Listening to the confusion of the crowd, he pushed himself flat against the wall.
Speech is emboldened.
