If she were at all bothered by the way he observed her she gave no sign of it. She just shrugged again, posture relaxed.

“Eh, I guess it’s not that big a deal, I wasn’t born like this. I was human up until…”

The memory was vague but what she remembered was still fresh in her mind. The terror, the pain, all buried by the exhilaration as her fingers tore into meat and flesh, the sensation that ran through her body as she fed on it all…

“Until a few months ago.” She quickly went on, leaving it at that. “The way the government people explained it to me is that I have some demons in my family tree. It’s probably whoever my dad was. Mom was always real tight-lipped about that.”

Her glass was refilled as she finished, and she took another sip.

“So yeah, all of this stuff?” She gestured widely at their surroundings, to the supernatural patrons of the club and beyond. “Totally outta my scene.”

The way Asta trailed off, then quickly added on a reply made Xiraev almost certain there was more to the story. Curiosity nudged him to ask more, but common sense and simple morality told him to give her a break and let it go. He made no gesture to indicate he noticed anything.

"From my understanding, you ain't the only one feelin' like that. This island sure is... something. Last time I visited it, it was very different. Don't think it's uncommon for new residents to feel like everything's outta their league, considering most of the islanders are or were human. Unfortunately, I can't know how long it'll take for you to adapt, but I can be there as a friend. I have plenty of experience with helping people coming into their new species. Mainly demons and vampires."

“Aww, well aren’t you the gentleman.” She smirked, tail playfully swishing behind her again. “You use that line on every girl you meet in the club?”

She gave him a familiar pat on the arm, her coy smile shifting into a more genuine one.

“I appreciate the thought, big guy. I’m sure I’ll be fine, I’m just trying to think about it like its some new adventure, y’know? It’s kinda exciting in that way. Terrifying, sure, but exciting.”

She leaned back and sipped her drink some more.

“So what’s your deal?” She asked after a pause. “You like some kind of vampire-demon therapist or something?”

"Nah. We incubi are can be sluts for company, y'know? Doesn't have to be sexual. I like being around people who enjoy me, and I like being around people I enjoy. I have money, I have connections, why not use them to help?"

With closed eyes, he tilted his head up towards the ceiling. "The Supernatural community is scattered, but when we're together, we're close. The island's proof of that, but there's more than just the island. There're people who don't know there're others out there like them. People without family. I run a house—a hotel, more like—that gives people that family until they can find another."

Bringing his head back down and opening his eyes, he flashed Asta a smile. "And I mostly use that line on men. Count yourself special."

“I’m flattered,” She shot a grin right back at him.

She waited to speak until he finished, attentive as he explained, sipping from her glass every now and again.

“Huh, sounds like you got some lofty ideas there big guy.” She eventually spoke up, putting her glass back down. “They gave me the whole spiel about how they find people and bring them here, but I bet there’s plenty of people falling through the cracks. Bet those people sure are grateful.”

She tilted her head to the side slightly.

“Think I could pay this hotel of yours a visit? What kinda room service you got?” She asked, half-jokingly.

Xiraev nodded as Asta spoke. He could go on and on about The Fisher Home and how it provides an alternative need than the island, but Asta shifted his thoughts away from that.

"Course you can. The room service? Five stars," he replied with a laugh. "The house is enchanted. Self-cleaning, size-changing beds, and enough rooms for anyone living there. It's like... It's like that show. Doctor Who. Bigger on the inside. Which, yeah, sounds intimidating, but it helps to have a house that shifts when I grow to 14 feet. Or to not have to adjust a bathroom for a 1-inch pixie." His nose wrinkled automatically at the idea. He had been living in his house for many years. Every time he remembered the difficulties he would face trying to adjust for size differences without the enchantments, he became thankful for what he had.

She let off a small whistle as he described all the amenities.

"Wow, magic room service really can do anything, huh? I'm gonna need to start exploring my options more. Bet I could really spruce up my apartment with that kinda shit."

She also, partly without realising, gave him a Look at the mention of growing 14 feet, but decided against saying anything else.

She smirked like she was about to go on, before someone near the stage caught her eye. She glanced over and gave them a short wave, before returning her attention to him.

"Ah, as much as I'd like to ask more, looks like duty calls. I gotta get ready for the bands next set. This place of yours got an address? I might swing around sometime."

"Not anything," was all he could get in before Asta found herself distracted by a nearby voice.

Xiraev nodded and dug into his pants pockets for a small notebook and pen. Once his address was written down, he cleanly ripped the paper out and slid it to Asta. "Here. Think I'm gonna have another drink before leaving. I'd love to hear back from you."

"Sure thing big guy," She slid the paper into her pocket, giving him a wink, before taking her glass and swallowing the last of her drink, savouring the burning sensation in her throat with a short sigh. "Enjoy the music while you finish up. I'll see you around."

And with that, she wiggled her fingers at him in farewell, before standing back up straight and gliding through the club over to the stage, filing this meeting in the back of her mind for later.
