Ain perked up when the self proclaimed god figured out about his curse so easily, it wasn't that big of a surprise as others were able to figure it out in the past but he barely spent any time with this man. It was possible that he had good intuition, among his fellow inquisitors there were a couple like that who could tell things at a glance and pick out lies better than anyone... there wasn't many left when he had died though because of the nature of the job and the relatively high deathrate.

He nodded to the first question, shook his head to the second, and sort of just stared at him for even mentioning the possibility that he was just dumb. As he finished he was reminded of the police questioning him when he first arrived and how long it took them to understand this much, this guy would have been useful 50 years ago.

It wasn't clear what he could gain from continuing to try to communicate with Noel, but it seemed like he was a decent person to say the least and for once he didn't throw in the extra comments of, "..for a lesser race," but maybe because the thought of him being a god was in the back of his mind.

"Oh, ho...yes, I understand now,... "Noel grinned with the satisfaction and confidence of one who has just figured out - or thinks he has figured out - a riddle or a puzzle, when the elf nodded and shook his blond head, and then stared at him with a sort of exasperated look on his very expressive face.

"A curse, am I right?" Noel stated, rather happy he had guessed. "Was it a witch, another god, a demon...?" he asked curiously, knowing witches and certain gods were notorious for hurling around curses to those that didn't see eye to eye with them. And demons, well, they often did it for kicks or as part of a bargain.

Then adding, "Oh, and is there anything I could possibly do to help you lift the curse?" he asked suddenly and very sincerely, as it was part of Noel's nature to want to help others any way he could. He didn't like it when he sensed people weren't truly happy or satisfied in life.

Ain placed his hand on his chin and pondered the though of what might have cursed him. Curses weren't really common place in Vera-Shale, but Blessing from gods were big among the Noble bloods for which he belonged. This was not a blessing though as it had no positive elements to it except for THAT one thing that he was able to do now, but even that was enough to tire him for a long time.

Any thoughts that he had about this would merely be guess work as he had not spoken to any god, witches or demons in his entire life, however he did receive it after his death but for some reason it didn't seem like that was the direct cause.

His face grew serious as he did not answer with a gesture this time, and sort of forgot about Noel and his surroundings as he tried to remember anything important. Was he forgetting an important detail?

Noel silently watched for a while the elf, he appeared to be confused or stumped at how to answer. Used to being patient, Noel let his gaze wander to the mossy tombstone of his friend, the name and date had faded over the years, but you could still make out the inscription carved in the stone, "The highest tribute to the dead is not grief but gratitude."

Sighing at this, Noel glanced up again, the elf now seemed to be lost in thought or something, but what Noel wasn't too sure. Strange. He didn't think his question would cause such an odd reaction.

"Are you well, my friend?" Noel finally asked, his voice carrying a hint of worry as he regarded him with open concern.

Ain's eyes glanced to Noel after a moment, he swore that he had heard the man speak but he wasn't really paying attention to that actual words. He took his hands and tugged and pulled at his cloak to fix it back up, and put his helmet back on. There wasn't really anything more to do with this old man, he couldn't help him and if he got any closer his aura would cause him distress. He searched his pockets and pulled out his old citizen ID card that had long expired that showed his name as "RED" on it, even if that wasn't his actual name it would do for now and tossed the card over to Noel's feet.

After he read it and gave it back, he intended to go on his way and get something to eat. The timing of it was good, but just as he waited his stomach growled.

Embarrassing.

"What an odd little fellow," Noel mused to himself as he watched in growing amusement as the elf ignored him, like he wasn't even there, put back oh his cloak and helmet as if he were ready to leave.

Perplexed, Noel looked on, his gaze following a small object the elf suddenly tossed his way, looking down to the ground, he saw it was a card of some sort, there at his feet. Picking it up, Noel saw it was a citizen card, and there along with the elf's picture, was his name, Red.

Looking at the elf, with a hint of a smile, Noel held the card out to him. "I think you dropped this." he said. And before, he could say any more, Noel heard, what he thought was a stomach growling.

Thinking quickly, Noel dug deep into a pocket, looking for a sweet, nothing. He didn't have any of his usual candies with him to offer or transform into a cookie or small cake. Sighing at this, he said to the elf in a kindly fashion, "Would you like to get something to eat?"

The intention was to leave, but the man was offering him--a total stranger--something to eat. Where he was from people were much more weary, cautious, and tended to mind their own business. It wasn't that it was neccessarily a bad thing but he knew about his capacity to hurt and kill others more than anyone, though he would keep doing it if the need ever came up he never wanted to hurt innocent people again. This Noel was a weird person though... and felt more at ease than he usually was.

Ain was a bit uncertain about Noel, but he seemed like a pretty decent person and as weird as it was he felt a feeling of happiness when being near him; for that reason he relented and stepped forward to retreive his ID card as he completely forgot about his uncontrol affliction. Within moments his dark aura had passed over Noel, the effects of fear pulling at him more and more as Ain got closer to him, and he put his hand out to grab his card.

As the elf moved forward, Noel felt a strange tingling of a sort and saw the elf's form flicker a bit to something more indefinite, like a black cloud or an outline of darkness filled with sadness. And more than just frighten Noel, it greatly saddened him. Noel's biggest fear was actually sadness and despair, not monsters in the dark or the undead rising. As a god, his fears were very different to humans or other creatures. They were based on not being able to hold back unhappiness and letting despair and ill-will triumph.

Not moving, Noel watched the elf quietly, flickering in shape, the feeling of sadness growing. And as the elf recovered his ID card, Noel very calmly tried pushing aside some of the great sadness he was feeling. It wasn't exactly the first time he had ever felt such an aura, but it had been a long time ... maybe centuries... and wondered now how the elf had acquired it?

"I think, if you don't mind, we should probably eat outside, away from others, perhaps?" he said with a sad smile, not wanting to disappoint the elf. His need to make others happy, somewhat overriding his fear and sadness.

Placing the ID card away in his pocket, Ain finally noticed that he was in range of his dark aura. This evil curse had been with him every step since he arrived on the island, it never made things easy, in fact it had always turned a bad situation far worse than he ever thought possible. He couldn't count how many people had just ran at the sight of his aura that could see it, and how many more ran as the aura turned what seemed to be a solid person into a scared little boy or girl; the effect wasn't always the same however as some even saw his aura as a form of attack.

His eyes moved to Noel swiftly to see the response, he had not run away but instead was decidingly different. It was always hard, but the terrible feeling deep down within him seem to be relieved slightly by being in Noel's presence even if he didn't derve to feel that way. Still he knew what he had to do, and with that he turned on his heels and ran through to the gate of the cementary.

Momentarily his head turned back to see Noel, before he continued on out of sight without a single word or gesture as to why he had left.
