Waiting for Arek

Adelina nodded. "So... you said before that you have a pet dragon? That's cool. I like dragons..." She stopped herself before she began rambling. "You also said that you like to read... what's your favorite book? I like A Series of Unfortunate Events."

"Um..." Adelina hesitated, remembering the bad experience she had had with a dragon not so long ago. She didn't want to take the chance of that happening again... but she knew that Arek wouldn't let anything bad happen. Plus, she knew that dragons had different personalities, so... she decided that she would.

"Sure, I'd love to see him!" she said, smiling once again.

Nice? Good... that's a relief... Adelina held in her sigh so Arek wouldn't suspect anything was wrong. Soon, the sound of flapping wings filled her ears, and a dragon landed not too far away. Adelina looked at it... that was probably the smallest dragon she had ever seen... well, one of the only dragons she had ever seen. It was only about the size of a horse... she had expected it to be much, much larger.

She looked at Arek with a wide smile, and slowly walked toward Xy, a bit nervous.

Once she reached them, Adelina took a deep breath, and reached her hand out to pet Xy's head. His scaly skin felt kind of odd, but after a moment, she was used to it. She looked at Arek and smiled.

Ha ha, Jesse's gonna flip when I tell him about this! she thought, already able to imagine the look on her brothers face.

Adelina hesitated once again and looked at Xy. "Well... I... uh..." She turned back to Arek.

"I... I don't see why not..." she said quietly. She stopped petting the dragon and walked around to his side, waiting for Arek to get on first.
