Pop. Crackle pop. Crackle.
Tiny sparks flickered around the pyrokinetic's jittery fingers as he tapped them on the metal doorframe, glancing around into the classroom he'd been standing in just a few minutes ago. It really was weird that he'd be back here, for two main reasons.
One - he didn't think he was in trouble! That "burnt homework" thing was an accident, he swore to Gods it was, and that's all it was, thank you very much. On second thought, it wasn't really wise to let him around homework so flammable as that, or if so, there shouldn't have been such a strict due date. Or maybe it was the procrastination that'd made him a little anxious, set the sparks goin' on his fingers. But now he was mind-rambling again.
Reason two - he'd really started to like this class, but in all honesty the teacher kind of freaked him out. Seemed like a strict type from the moment he'd gotten in there, and frankly he didn't really like that. But eh, beggars couldn't be choosers, and hey, he was learning, right? Even if his homework sometimes ended up being charcoal. Or stained with coffee. Or kind of crumpled. Or lost.
ANYWAYS. He was losing his train of thought, and fast. Nix glanced 'round the empty classroom again, squinting his eyes to make out the shapes in the relative dark of the classroom. Well, it had seemed empty... but upon closer inspection, there was actually someone in there. Of course there was. It was probably his teacher.
"Uh, 'scuse me. I'm Nix. Someone call for me?" he asked, trying (and kind of failing) to be casual.
. . .
No reply. To this, clutching his coffee with one sparking hand, he stepped into the room, cautiously but casually, and declared a little louder, "Uhhh.... Nix. I'm here for some kind of meeting or something?"

Trent was busy writing notes. He seemed to always be writing something nowadays. If not for his books to donate to the library, then it was tests and home work to be graded. Even Even that wasn't going on he hard to worry about expenses of the class itself. So much to do and so little timein the day. But not needing to sleep helped ease that burden, though Trent worried that the next time he truly slept he would find another era of history had whisked on by as soon as he closed his eye lids. Being as old as he was now he thought he might even miss another thousand years had slipped him by. But he sighed, that was neither here nor there. Glancing at a clock at the back of the classroom Trent could see that it was well passed when classes all over the campus were over. He had scheduled two less then stellar students to come by after classes.

It was as he was about to begin casting conjuring up magic to pull the two students to his class when he heard a voice by the door and saw one of them was here at least. "Ah, Nix. It's good to see that you decided to show up. Even if you are late. Come, sit down we have much to discuss. You wouldn't happen to know if you saw a young man wandering in this general direction out there would you?" Trends voice though attempting to stay warm and friendly also held a very thin layer of patients holding back icy disapproval for both young Phoenix and a certain Ignis.

Though he didn't know if Nix and Ignis knew each other. Trent was just about as ready to snap at both for their behavior in class, the only thing keeping him as gentle as he was now was that Nix was here of his own accord. But as he was smoldering to himself Trent waved a hand and two chairs appeared on the other side facing him.

"Uhmmm.... Great! Haha. I mean, it's great to see you, uhm, sir. Uh, sorry fr being late - I'd just got a coffee break and then I remembered this so uh...." And, for once in a blue moon, he kind of lost his words. Man, he was gonna be in HUGE trouble. Probably. Assumedly, 'much to discuss' probably included the little naps he'd taken... heheh... and the charcoal homework. Nix was sure that was on the list of trouble. Question was, what was his punishment gonna be like? AHEM.
Though Nix showed none of his panic word-wise, his expression forcibly lax, the sparks around his fingers increased in intensity, giving away the pyrokinetic's anxiety.
"Uh, no. I haven't seen any 'young man' s in the halls... Except for the dozen or so in your class. Don't really know 'em, though."
Deep breath. Okay. Stop the sparking. Don't catch anything on fire. DON'T DO IT.

Phoenix certainly wasn't calm. But he wasn't going to let his student know that he could tell the boy was nervous. Especially as he was trying to hide the fact, though it looked like the child was about ready to explode into flames just out of nervousness. When he said he didn't see any other student coming in the direction of the class room Trent let out an agitated sigh. "Phoenix, please sit down. Do not worry about the potential flammability of the furniture. They all have been warded against many forms of burning and disintegration." Moving a hand to point palm forward to another chair Trent willed a Magic Circle to appear in the air.

"Since it seems that a certain young master Ignis refused to join us. I will call him here now." The Magic Circle became more intricate as he spoke even adding another 2 circles hovering around the larger one. Teleportation was very intricate spell, especially when you were not with whomever you were teleporting. To make sure he had gotten everything together properly Trent added another three even smaller circles around each of the two new circles. Once it was complete he focused and a visible aura of magic shined around the human formed dragon, the scales at the corners of his eyes where wrinkles should be extended farther back along the sides of his head for a moment.

It took a little less then a full minute to finish everything for the 'summons' to his office for Ignis. But as the light from the magic faded the young man was standing in front of the empty chair. Intertwining his fingers together in front of him he glared at the young man. "So glad you could join us Ignis Astrum. Please have a seat next to your class mate."

One moment he was jumping from a rooftop to another, the next he was in a classroom. Such a displacement caused Ignis to lose his balance and fall straight forward. It seemed he was lost for a second before Trent chimed in with the sarcastic welcome. Ignis cursed under his breath as he sprang back to his feet, looking at the old dragon with a rebellious smirk.

"Well, you know, no place I'd rather be." He replied before taking a seat atop the desk beside the living roman candle.

"Hey, save the fireworks for the end of the show." He said toward Nix, his smile turning more genuine. "We can celebrate AFTER we survive the lecture... Unless you're planning an escape. Pyrotechnics make a good diversion."

If there was ever a chance to jump into a snarky conversation... well, this was it. With a sly little smirk, Nix switched over to Snark Mode, despite his still-sparking fingers.

"Goddamnit, you uncovered the whole plan. Now he knows." A point of a sparking finger towards the teacher in question, feeling kind of bad for him - but whatever, he guessed, covering it with a chuckle. "'Sides, everything's somehow fireproof. Enchantment, probably." A shrug of his shoulders as he sat down next to Ignis - that was his name, right? Nix could never quite tell if he was right or not, since he'd been wrong a bunch, but that was neither here nor there - aaaand he was mind-rambling again. Ahem. He had REALLY got to stop doing that. It just made everything really awkward sometimes.

"Ignis, right?" he asked, almost as an afterthought, glancing once more at the teacher.

These two, it might have been a mistake to have both of them here at the same time. They were feeding off each other's rebelliousness. However Trent had delt with enough younglings working at the school to know to keep his patients. Something he did do was turn his voice quieter while projecting it towards the two students who where at that moment sitting on his desk, the full weight of his age being added to his tone. This was not the time for their jokes "First, both of you get off my desk before I assign additional work for disobedience to your teacher. Second, this is a serious matter and I will not accept anything less than either of your full attention. Now I assume that at least you Phoenix Jamston know why you are here."

Trent's attention was first on the young Nix since he at least seemed the most ashamed of what he had been doing. "The biggest are the fact that some assignments just simply don't show up on my desk when I ask them to be turned in. Next are the disruptions to my class when I must wake you or simply due to the lack of attention paid to my lectures. Due to both of these you are nearly failing my class out right. The only thing that is currently keeping you afloat is what we do here in class."

Turning his gaze over to Ignis now, his look would probably been able to bore through his flesh and the ground behind him if it had any physical properties. "As for you, Ignis Astrum. You are even more disruptive to my classes than Master Jamston here. From what I have been told first of all is that you willingly avoid coming into class someday. That alone I should have addressed long before. Next that you do not stay seated unless you are preoccupied with your abilities. As for your forays away from class where you simply leave and don't return I am on the brink of failing you right now. In your case the only thing keeping you from loosing this class is your assigned work outside of the class room."

Now that their infractions were all told he looked between the two of them, his heavy gaze doing its best to ensure their absolute obedience. "Now, I am certainly disappointing with the both of you. You two have taken my class on your own free will yet you do not apply yourself. Where both of you should be adults and able to take care of yourselves. Yet you show such ineptitude that I have found an 8 year old young girl who finds my subject more fascinating then the two of you combined.... What do the two of you have to say for yourselves?"

Before Ignis could further the conversation, the rant began.

Off the desk? But where else am I to sit? He thought to himself with a chuckle before hopping off the desk and standing behind his chair, tapping the tip of his shoe against the ground impatiently. It was clear: He was already bored. Something about ditching, something something I dunno, something about a child doing better. But ah, a chance to retort.

"Well, your honor, if it pleases the jury, I'd like to bring to your attention exhibit A: This speech itself!" He announced, doing his best Phoenix Wright 'objection' pose.
"How can you expect me to pay attention when every lecture is the same? Is this class not about fantastic beasts and where to find them... and ... stuff? ...um..." He awkwardly clears his throat before continuing in the same dramatic voice. "Why then does the class feel so slow and boring? Your interest in the subject must have come from endless centuries of experience! A genuine interest in what you only preach to us monotonously now! Show us these creatures! Bring us out to see them! To truly know them! Make learning fun! Is that not what a teacher should do? Get us to love the subject? Give us, your students, the desire to learn... I rest my case. "

He sighs at the end and finally takes a seat. What a performance. Be a real shame if this is the wrong class... again.

Really. Literally everyone else knew to call him Nix instead of Phoenix - and now Mr. Trent had kinda miffed him. It sounded really weird to hear his full name out loud. Shooting a defensive look at his teacher, he hastily explained himself. Upon seeing Ignis has the exact same idea as he, he fed off of the other's vibe,
"Okay, very convincing testimony, yeah yeah. Sir, if I may. At the risk of sounding like an attorney-" Wow, real big words, Nix - you almost sound like a competent human. He struck an identical pose, somehow managing to trip over legit nothing bt recovering quickly, - " I need to state that the infractions are all accidental. It's not my fault due dates exist. And it's also not my fault my hands get sparky under stress. Man, seriously. Those assignments? They're all charcoal. DO you WANT charcoal for an assignment? Yeah, no, didn't think so. And the lack of attention? C'mon man - i'm in college. Sleep is a new word for me - of COURSE I'd be distracted or half-asleep. It's from staying up all night trying to finish as many things as possible. And there's no. Fucking. Way. I'm failing the course. I checked my marks yesterday and they were at a solid...." He paused for a second, trying to remember the number, "... 79%? Or maybe it was 69%... ANYWAYS. I rest my case. This is unfair." He cleared his now-dry throat, sighed, then looked back. "With all due respect sir, I have lots of interest in the course, but please, man. Cut me some slack on the flammable assignments and legit no sleep time."
Was he ashamed? Abso-freakin'-loutely. Was he sorry? Yeah.
Was he gonna change? Probably... maybe.... hopefully...
Fuck it, probably not. Old habits die hard.
"And that is advocation for both me and my client. Unless you have something better?" with a cheeky smirk.

Trent would have sighed if his agitation wasn't wearing on him. If he did sigh he would probably have set the building into a new big bang scenario with how his breath weapon worked nowadays. These two were obviously not taking this lesson seriously. First he turned to Nix with a very tired of excuses look in his eyes. "Young master Jamston there are resources at this school that would fix the issue of 'charcoal' assignments. A Flame Proofing spell is easy enough to place on paper or a note book to prevent such accidents from occurring. In addition to that from what it sounds like to me is that you require addition tutelage from your Powers Instructor if you cannot control yourself to not burn nearly three fifths of your assignments. The use of either of these methods which I repeat are easily with in your grasp would reduce your work time, which in turn would reduce your stress levels which in its own turn would allow for you to properly sleep. Either that or you can take fewer classes per semester to ease the burden."

With that said he turned an angry glare at Ignis. "I think perhaps you should then pay attention and come to class young master Astrum. For you have missed on two opportunities in the same amount of months for just such opportunities. In complete frankness I don't remember seeing you when I had brought in the Rust Monster in. If you wish to see these creatures as you so request then stop fidgeting, pay attention, and attend regularly. I do my best to hold my pupils attentions. But if they do not even care to simply attend then there is nothing I can do to assist in any regard."

Again Trent changed his look to now include both of them. "Now, if you want to stay in this class I'm giving the both of you a suplimentry assaignments. You two are to give me a 6 page essay on a magical creature of your choice from the Realms of Outer Ruin and how they came to flourish therr. You will not use the same creature as each other and I'm giving you two months to finish it and have it on my desk." Trent then opened a drawer and pulled out a package of lined paper and 3 notebooks and pushed them to Nix. "These are warded against fire. If you need more just ask.... any more questions either of you?"
