Name: Voke Suven
Age: Surprisingly, Voke Suven looks much younger compared to other Iraji his age. While he's only 17 years old, he's mentally closer to a 25-year old human, physically reflecting the age of a young adult.
Birthday: The 25th of October.
Gender: He's a male and answers to he/him/his.
Species: Iraji
Category: Citizen
Career: Manta Carlos FireFighter
Appearance Description: Voke sits at 5'3", weighing around 133 lbs. and is one of the few Iraji to have a medium-sized frame. As expected of his sex, he sports brighter, saturated, bluish skin and muted, black-red hair. His hair is usually pulled back into a careless bun, and his nostrils sit in equal plane with his eyes. His face is rounder than most, a feature his kind finds rare and attractive. His short ears sit out and forward, pointing upward in rigid fashion. His angular eyes droop downward and are offset by other facial features. His sand-colored horns grow right above his eyebrows and sit back, following the curvature of his head. His cat-like eyes are encircled by a bright yellow iris, his pupils dilating and contracting with change in focus.
His frame follows right alongside his fellow people: slim upper arms, angular forearms, streamlined torso, trap and hip skin folds, digitigrade legs, stubby tail. However, he’s physically stronger than the average Iraji, and even the average human, because of the requirements of his job. A gem-like structure is seated in between his scapulae, allowing for the physical change of his form and the activation of his powers (see Species Abilities).
Personality Description:
- Positive- Loyal, Straight-forward, Energetic, Focused, Hard-Working, Efficient, Quick-Learner
- Negative - No Imagination, Misunderstands Social Norms/Lingo, Strong-Willed, Reactive, Emotional
Species Abilities:
Decreased Lifespan- Iraji lifespans are relatively short compared to normal men. Physically, their bodies wear out with age, but this factor is also affected by what they did during their time alive. This short lifespan allows for the Iraji to mature quicker than other races, being consciously independent from their parents by age four and fully independent by age 15 or 16. With their first major appearances, their average recorded lifespan was only about 25-30 years. With international development and improvements both in medicine and global health, the current average lifespan is double that, sitting comfortably around 60 years. However, when they do reach the end of their lives, Iraji health declines rapidly, and they often require help from younger, healthier Iraji to perform the simplest of tasks until they pass away.
Diet- Iraji cannot digest foods that are low or lacking in fat content. Because their metabolism is so high and they require more oxygen than a normal human being, fat content is extremely important for their functionality. Therefore, their diet mainly consists of high-fat foods such as avocados, water fowl (duck being the favorite), fish (like salmon), olive oil, nuts and nut butters (like walnuts), seeds (like sunflower or chia), eggs, and even dark chocolate.
Dispersed Respiratory System- Slits acting as nostrils sit on the cheekbones of the Iraji's face, completing one part of their respiratory system. Two skin folds that sit on the trapezius and above the hip bones complete the external part of an Iraji lung system. Because Iraji do not have the same lung capacity as a human being, lower parts of the body would have issues getting needed oxygen. Therefore, the existence of the trap and hip flaps are extremely important. Should any tight-fitting clothing or other external force close off these airways, an Iraji might go numb and eventually render that limb useless.
Physical Alteration- Normally, the Iraji stand between the heights of 5'7" and 5'. Compared to normal humans, they are only slightly weaker, but this changes with the activation of their powers and the physical change of their bodies. This alteration comes with the activation of their “Attributes”. Voke's Attribute is listed below.
WATER - In this form, the Irajid’s skin becomes slick and scaly. Webbing forms between the fingers and the toes, the arms and torso, and the legs and tail. The ends of the Irajid's fingers grow into whisker-like feelers. The horns take on fin-like structures and the ears callus into spiny protrusions. The nostrils and skin folds extend into loose webbing to filter oxygen from the water. Fin-like structures grow on the outside of the elbows and the inside of the knees. The tail also changes to resemble a dorsal tail.
Plus/Minus: Iraji harnessing this Attribute become extremely flexible and toned, but lack in overall strength (reduced by a fourth).
Powers: Elemental Manipulation (The ability to harness certain aspects of nature to their advantage)
LIQUID REDIRECTION- The Irajik psychically harnesses moisture and can alter its impact, density, flow, and direction. The gem on their back takes on an aquamarine hue.
Plus/Minus: Irajik harnessing liquids can only utilize them if they are within visual range (this is his Home Attribute). Iraji using this Attribute have to concentrate with extreme dedication, as this Attribute must coincide with the pulse of their blood. Currently existing liquid, such as water, cannot be altered unless logically corresponding elements are also present (undertow can't be created if the seabed is smooth or doesn't have large rocks present). Irajik can use moisture to stay hydrated instead of drinking water, but it usually causes other valuables to become damp.
Cauterization- Cauterization is the unique ability to harness certain aspects of an Attribute and use it to heal fleshly wounds. For Voke, he must use the blood of a wound to stop the bleeding and cauterize the skin. However, when performing this, he must mix his blood with the wound in order to magically enhance it, unless it is his own body. Once he does, the process is slow (minutes to hours depending), but effective (usually results in complete healing), and renders the user exhausted after the process.
This specific ability can only be learned under specific situations. An Iraji of any Attribute must: a) Have dedicated themselves to a public service, and (b) undergo a specific ritual to become “Excluded” (Excluded Iraji do not have the same expectations of other Iraji to mate and breed, being able to fully dedicate themselves to where they are serving).
***DISCLAIMER: These powers cannot be used until that attribute is activated and the Iraji has transformed to suit the power***
Biography: Unlike most Iraji his age, Voke grew up remembering the mass migration to the island of Manta Carlos. He was only two at the time, but the actions that he took to help his people were remembered by many of the trip's survivors. Unfortunately, there were some he couldn't save, and two of those Iraji included his parents, Tairo and Eijinel. The people that were lost during the voyage haunted him, and some of their deaths he felt preventable. The migration in itself was the first evidence shown of his ability and passion in aiding those who needed help. From then on, his surrogate father, Suven, made it his personal goal to see this part of Voke shine, whether anything ever came of it or not. Voke chose to stay close to home as he grew up, learning the ways of this new island and his people. By the time he entered adulthood at age 16, he already knew exactly where he wanted to be: the Manta Carlos Fire Station. There was something about it that called to him very early on, and after rigorously training himself and applying for the role, he eventually graduated from the academy.
CURRENTLY, he's pumped to start his first day on the job. He's just waiting for the first call...
Additional Information: While Voke is still new to the social constructs of Manta Carlos, his dedication to his training and improving his English has made it easier for him to succeed in the work force. His name is pronounced Voe-Key.
