Name: Valencia Noria
Age: 143
Birthday: July 30
Gender: Female
Species: Harpy
Category: Citizen
Career: Biomedical Scientist, Medic
Appearance Description: Valencia stands at a height of 5'3". She has an array of bright, colorful feathers usually with warmer colors closer to her center, getting cooler and cooler the farther they are from her chest. Like traditional harpies, they don't have any arms, instead they have wings with clawed digits where the hands would be. Her feathers on the wings come in four layers, with each getting larger and cooler from the base. When all of them are plucked (and please don't pluck), her 'arms' resemble that of a human, only there's an extra appendage extruding from the wrist (which makes it look more like a chicken's plucked wings), which holds the outer feathers. This appendage, in ancient times, was actually a sharp blade-like claw, but has since become less lethal when they became less reliant on hunting for food.
Her body is also mostly covered with small and fine feathers with anything below her hip being in slightly darkening shades of light blue, however her front is significantly lacking feathers, and instead has smooth skin. She does have tail feathers, with the longest ones able to drag on the floor as she walks.
Valencia has a pretty and young face. She has long pointed ears as well. Her eyes are a deep blue, and her hair is long and in a light shade of pink.
Personality Description: Valencia is a protective mother, kind and understanding, however when it comes to dealing with emotional problems, she mostly resorts to locking them up. She knows how destructive it can be, and so when approached about how to deal with difficult situations, she rarely knows what to say. She can give good advice to anyone, however she herself has a hard time following them.
She is prone to letting her emotions control her and often follows what her heart desires. She is a fast learner and is smarter than what she would lead you to believe. She is also emotionally vulnerable, though she is working to fix that with little progress being made.
Active Abilities:
Passive Abilities:
Weaknesses:
Resources: Lives with her Ex, Tucker who has a library full of books, some of which are magical, and their daughter. Tucker's standard of living is high-middle class, with a two-story house and a medium-sized lot.
Biography: Unknown to everyone but her, Valencia was born of royal blood. Her prismatic colors reflect this, however a lot has been lost in history, and she dislikes having her heritage known. Her clan's home was isolated. They had cut off all connections from the outside world starting from the medieval ages when their kind was hunted down.
Those days had been kept secret from everyone but the elders. Valencia's mother was one of the elders. She had not planned on having a child, and so when things got so difficult that her mother couldn't make her stop crying, she resorted to telling her extraordinary tales of the outside world, hoping to enthrall her enough to calm her down. It worked, but this only instilled a sense of curiosity in her.
She had wanted to leave when she was older, and while her mother attempted to act like she supported the decision, she actively tried to keep her in their own little island. After numerous verbal fights with her when Valencia found out, Valencia eventually broke down and begrudgingly stopped following her dreams.
But her dreams would be realized at the height of World War 2, when a lost squadron of fighters and bombers mistook their island as a hidden base. They didn't know who did it as the tragedy happened at night with heavy clouds hiding the moonlight. The shamans casted a spell to take everyone away to a land that was supposedly safe. But in the chaos, Valencia was left behind, trapped under rubble.
It wouldn't be until a week later when rescue arrived. She was heavily wounded, but thanks to the training she received from the shamans, she was able to mend her own wounds enough for her to get back on her feet. She had honestly thought that everyone had perished, and for the whole week of being alone, scavenging for food and attempting to stomach the scent of death, she felt herself getting into the darker territories in her mind. She was alone, afraid, and didn't know where else to go. She had contemplated ending her life than to live out alone in the ruins of her once beautiful home.
She was so close to doing it too when she heard unknown voices calling out to her. She had accepted her fate and was glad that she wouldn't have to end her life herself. But then they gave her a medallion, one that belonged to her mother. The group of strangers, who weren't even harpies or in fact avian in any form like her mother's mate, had told her that she was safe, as well as the rest of the clan. Only a few managed to escape however as the attack nearly wiped them out. But Valencia was happy to hear that some made it out alive. She followed them to their new home and was reunited with her mother.
Their new island was inhabited with many other creatures more advanced than they were, and they were invited to stay. And so they did, eventually integrating into the community after many years. Being a fast learner, Valencia dabbled in biology and medicine with their new neighbors, learning a lot from them, becoming an unofficial doctor at one point and an assistant in their laboratories. She had to earn money, a lot of them did, but she ended up learning quite a lot.
New arrivals were rare in the island since it was masked with strong concealment magic so things like the accidental attack on her home wouldn't happen, which meant not just anyone could come in and out. So when new people do arrive, Valencia always takes an interest in them. It just so happened that one took an interest back. His name was Luca Sanada, and the two of them had become close.
Being an immortal meant that Valencia was never pressured into finding a mate, but she felt like Luca was someone she would like to be with. Her happiest memories in the new island had been the time she spent with him. She had admittedly become a bit territorial of him, but that was an ancient defense mechanism of her kind that she and many others try to suppress, with varying degrees of success. Valencia was better at it than most, but she never struggled with it anymore when she and Luca made a song together. Their own very special song that only the two of them would ever know. To her that meant she never had to worry about losing him to someone else. It was a pledge to each other.
The song meant everything to them.
At least that was what she thought.
One day, she awoke to find out that Luca had left with no one knowing where he went. Valencia tried to keep herself optimistic and waited for him. Hours turned to days, days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months. And with each passing day, her heart cracked that much more. She isolated herself from everyone else, barely ate, and never showed her face to anyone.
It wasn't until she started vomiting that people finally managed to bring her out, and it was then they found out she was pregnant. Worried that the child would be a poor reminder of her broken heart, talk of removing it started being passed around among friends and colleagues. But Valencia refused and even got enraged when word got to her ear, however she still refused to speak. It worried everyone to no end.
She was eventually calmed down by her mother who supported what she wanted, but this time, she didn't try to go against her in secret. When Valencia saw that, she lightened up and cried her heart out.
From that point, she started recovering with the support of everyone she knew. When the child was hatched, Valencia diligently raised her and she forgot all about Luca. Until Valerie asked about her father. Then it all came crashing down. Albeit softly. Valencia had come to terms with the fact that Luca was gone and would possibly never come back. However, she wasn't ready to talk about it and just dodged the question whenever it came up. Valerie got tired of asking, and everyone else had sworn to keep Luca a secret from her.
Years passed and mother and daughter lived peacefully. Valencia had second thoughts about keeping Luca a secret and her tongue was finally forced to speak of him when Valerie showed her a collection of pictures Valencia had hidden. She couldn't bring herself to say his name yet and so just said she had forgotten, but doing so only seemed to hurt herself.
Valencia owed a lot of explanations to her daughter, and while she would have liked to take it slow and easy, Valerie had the idea of looking for him. Valencia refused of course, but after being pressured day in and day out, she finally admitted defeat. She had told Valerie some things about her father, hoping that if she was really serious about this, she would have something for reference.
She pointed her daughter towards Manta Carlos, the only place that would be remotely close to where someone like Luca would be found. Of course, Valencia, since she couldn't bring herself to go looking for someone who would probably never be found, had sent some people to keep an eye out on her daughter, at least until she was safe. When those very same people arrived a lot sooner than expected, she had thought that something bad had happened. But no, Luca was found.
Valencia was brought to tears when she was shown a photo of the man. There was no doubt about it. It was him. For months, she decided to keep her distance, let her daughter and her father bond. She hadn't planned to ever go out and meet them. Valerie had a phone, but Valencia had told her she would be very busy when she left. Something important to do in the lab. Valerie was no stranger to how busy the lab could get, and promised to wait until her mother called.
And now Valencia was just spending most of her free time thinking about her daughter and Luca. She wanted to know how they were. But she didn't know what to do when comes the time to face Luca. She was afraid of what might happen, of what emotions might come out when she gets to see his face in person.
It just so happened that the head researcher at the lab she worked in needed someone to go to Manta Carlos to hand over a sample they had been looking into. The fates had decided that she'd be the one to do it. Unable to convince her peers to have someone else do it, she is now forced to face one of her growing fears.

Active Abilities:
- Mend — Valencia can create an ethereal green ball of light in her hands that slowly heals injuries so long as it is kept where the injuries are. It also has a calming and anesthetic effect, that last for five minutes after the ball of light has been removed from the area.
Passive Abilities:
- Harpy Physiology — The Harpy has large wings for arms. Hands are present where they would be compared to human arms. As with having wings instead of human arms, harpies, from the knee down, have avian feet with sharp talons similar to that of crows. (Three digits on the front, one at the back, opposite the center.) Additionally, they have better eyesight, being able to read things clearly from half a mile away. They have tail feathers, but they start protruding before the waistline. They are a lot lighter when it comes to weight thanks to hollow bones, which allows for flight, but strangely enough however they are also strong enough to carry a passenger or two, though it quickly tires them out.
This breed of harpy evolved very closely to human physiology, and it would be easy to mistake them for one at first glance. Their teeth are very similar to humans with their fangs being sharper and a bit bigger. Not by a lot, but noticeable enough. Their backs are covered with fine down feathers that helps trap heat. These feathers run from the back of their necks, fading from their hair, the shoulder blades, where it merges with the wing feathers, and down their spine to the tail feathers. - Biological Immortality — Harpies never die of old age, and their bodies remain at their prime once they reach it. However, they aren't immune to diseases, and they are different enough not die when infected with viruses like bird flu, but they can still get sick from it.
- Animal Senses — Although not as sensitive as their animal counterpart, Harpies tend to feel uneasy when natural phenomenas like earthquakes are about to occur, or when there is a large shift in nature that would send animals into a panic.
Weaknesses:
- Physical Weakness — Harpies aren't meant to brawl it out. They have weaker bones that break more easily than human ones, and their wings can be a hindrance in closed areas. They are also a lot lighter than humans with the same physique.
