Scarlet blushed scarlet. She was no used to people paying her compliments. That's why she had blown the last one off. But this one she didn't know how to without sounding like she was being a humble snob.

So she just smiled slightly and offered, [color=33ff99]"Would you like me to try and teach you?"[/color]

Ivan smiled widely. "That would be greatly appreciated." He replied, accepting her generous offer. "I just hope teaching me to draw isn't too much of a burden." He added. It was nice of her to make such an offer even though she barely knew him.

Scarlet made it look like she were seriously contimplating taking back her offer, but then grinned. [color=33ff99]"No, not a burden."[/color] She turned the page on her drawing pad and handed him the pencil. [color=33ff99]"Try drawing my hand."[/color] She held it up. [color=33ff99]"I want to see how bad...I mean, good you are so I know where I need to start."[/color]

Ivan concentrated as well as he could. He worked very hard... but the end result left much to be desired. It looked more like an octopus with some tentacles longer or thicker. Ivan chuckled. "I apoligize. I have a long way to go..."

Scarlet covered her grin with her hand--the one he had been drawing. [color=33ff99]"Um, not too bad. It's better than my first try."[/color] Scarlet showed him a few tecniques she had learned while drawing. [color=33ff99]"Now, try drawing this leaf."[/color] She held one up. It wa small and simple.

Ivan's eyes narrowed and he focused completely on drawing the leaf... It came out less than impressive; It looked like a teardrop with a stem. Ivan frowned as he looked between his drawing and the leaf. The leaf had way more detail than his basic rendering of it. "Rome was not built in a day..." He reminded himself out loud.

Ivan laughed as he was beaten with the blunt edge of criticism (figuratively). "I understand that my drawing leaves much to be desired." He replied. "With maybe a year of practice I'll be above average, I'll bet..." Ivan smacked himself in the forehead. "I'm terribly sorry; I forgot to inrtoduce myself! I'm Ivan Gray."

A year? Scarlet wondered if he really was that bad that it would take him a year to learn how to draw a leaf. [color=33ff99]"I'm Scarlet Grant."[/color] She smiled. Oddly enough, the haunting memories of how her parents died were completely forgotten, and had been since Ivan had shown up.

[[OOC: My cousin used to have a boyfriend named Ivan. He was nice. :P ]

Ivan grinned. "It's nice to meet you, Scarlet." He replied. He tried to draw the veins on the leaf, but ended up ruining the entire drawing. Ivan looked disappointed. "Oh well. At least I tried..." Ivan cheered up, looking back to Scarlet. "Would you like to go get something to eat? I know a nice little restaurant in the city, and pay-day was today so I have enough money to cover the cost of the meal."
