It wasn't the Ancient Forest, but this park wasn't a bad place to stretch your feet and mind. In the woods by her house Fehr ran and flew in her other form, but it was more efficient for her and the people around her if she ran in her human form in the park. Even now Fehr was running in her still quite new running gear, sneakers and a jacket, with long ponytail swinging behind her. In her old dimension Fehr had ran in full armour and weapons, so this kind of running with just clothing and even that lighter than normal felt too easy.
Maybe Fehr should get some weight to strap on her arms and legs for this.
But automatically she glanced at her stomach, would that really be healthy for the child? Fehr still had a lot to learn about pregnancy, she had been very busy to really immerse herself in it. The pregnancy was still in such early stages it didn't interfere in her life aside from morning sickness. But when she would really begin to show it'd be anybody's guess.
Fehr decided to dedicate the whole next weekend for pregnancy research.

Fehr did a quick sprint, around 50mph for around 30 metres, and then stopped by a group of benches. She pulled out a water bottle from her belt and took a long sip, these bottles were really a big improvement compared to the leaky leather bags they'd had in her old dimension.
Fehr put the bottle back on her belt and tried stretching by reaching to her toes, only to notice her stomach was very much in the way. Fehr frowned slightly in annoyance, if her baby bump was already being in the way she knew she'd be extremely irritated by it when it's grow almost five times as large.
"You're going to drive me crazy."
Fehr murmured towards her stomach, and immediately felt ridiculous. The child couldn't hear any words yet, it was meaningless to talk to it. Or was it? Maybe it could hear sounds and that would help it develop. This was why Fehr needed to study.
But for now Fehr sat down on the nearest bench and took a moment to look around. Which meant basically just sitting there and not move her head, Fehr's field of vision was so large she could see on almost every side.

Masami was not a gentle soul by any measure. He was a sword, forged in fire, quenched in blood and oil, and made to destroy. But even still he had a mind and- well not a soul but something like one. And he enjoyed things that a sword had no right in enjoying.

Feeding birds in the park was one of those things. It was almost laughable how many of his hobbies were decidedly old person activities. The birds were just nice to focus on while he meditated. This time of year though, there weren't as many birds. The ones who migrated were doing just that and the ones that didn't were settling in out of the cold. Still, there were a few stragglers and Masami made a point of keeping up his routine even if the cold was uncomfortable. And it was insanely uncomfortable. He joked that the cold made his joints ache, but really it was the lack of proper exercise combined with the cold.

Proper exercise being fighting. But fighting wasn't something he wanted anymore. At least that was what he told himself.

The park was always decently busy. He didn't mind it, people watching was fun. Enjoyable. He liked seeing them in their daily lives, wondering what they were thinking. What they wanted out of life. He tossed some seeds from his little paper bag at the handful of birds accumulated around him. Her voice was the first thing that caught her attention.

Masami turned slightly and noticed Fehralyn. She was exercising. Keeping herself healthy, for the sake of the life she was carrying. Or maybe for herself. It didn't matter which. He turned back so that he wasn't staring and tossed out another small handful of seeds. "If you're going to be driven crazy now, I can't imagine you'll survive long once the little one is actually born eh," he said with a slight smile. Joking, he was joking.

"Anyway, hello. You're Fehralyn, yeah? From the community center the other day. The, uh..." what was it she had called herself? A winged unicorn? "...winged unicorn?"

Fehralyn had noticed his presence, but where as he enjoyed people watching she enjoyed watching everything else. The sky, the nature and the life energy flow, that was constant in the world around her. She saw the big picture, and thus details sometimes got lost to her when she let them. So when Masami spoke directly to her Fehr actually turned her head to look at him despite not needing to. She remembered him, from the community center. The man with...melancholic views on his identity and purpose. The one Fehr had wanted to have a debate with based on that. Naturally she had withdrawn from saying anything, it would've been highly inappropriate and she didn't know his detailed history and beliefs.
Fehr had heard what he had said just now, and she could tell it was a joke. Fehr smiled slightly and sighed through her nose, glancing down at her stomach again.
"It's going to be a challenge, I'm sure. But I've never backed down from challenges before. Although I'm also sure this will be my greatest one yet."
Fehr's tone was light, she made it clear she wasn't offended.

Winged unicorns really seemed to rare in this world as well, Fehr had asked around but hadn't heard of any yet, not even any communities in any parts of the world. She was sure they existed, they just kept to themselves.
"Yes, that is me. And you said you were Masami, the sword with will."
Fehr looked at the birds he was feeding, their life energy was slightly dimmed due to the approaching winter, but every time they ate some bread the energy pulsed once like a heartbeat.
"These birds are grateful, that you feed them."
Fehr said to Masami, when she heard what the birds were saying.

Masami smiled a bit and gsve a shrug. He didn't know what the birds were thinking, but he knew they liked the seeds at least. "Well I certainly hope so. I do go out of my way to feed them after all."

Sliding over on the bench he was occupying to make room, he gestured beside him. "Take a seat? You shouldn't overwork yourself, even if you are a-" what would be polite to call her? Warhorse definitely was not the thing. So he settled on what he thought she might appreciate best. "-a soldier."

"Taking care of a child is a challenge for sure. But you seem like you're up for the challenge. Would you like some tea? I keep a warm thermos on me when it turns cold like this."

He reached into his cost and pulled out the thermos in question. This one was just tea, at least. He wouldn't offer alcohol to a pregnant woman.

Fehr accepted Masami's offer to sit on the bench with him, and she moved over and next to him. She appreciated him calling her a soldier, though Fehr had left that life behind.
"I appreciate the advice. I'm unaccustomed to such light exercise, and if I do not exercise I can get quite tense and restless."
Fehr whistled a bit at one of the few birds that were still loitering around, asking it to come over. The bird hopped on Fehr's knee and she gently stroke it's feathers with one finger.

"If the options are taking care of my child or abandoning them then I'll certainly face that challenge."
Fehr looked over at the thermos and she shook her head slightly.
"I must decline, my stomach is extremely sensitive and if that tea isn't entirely organic it will most probably give me a food poisoning. If I could eat or drink something in this situation it'd be those seeds."
Fehr referred to the seeds Masami was feeding the birds and chuckled, when the bird on her knee chirped excitedly at the mention of seeds.

"Ah," was all he said as he poured himself a cup of the tea, still steaming hot. He was pretty sure it was organic, but he wouldn't press the issue. He didn't want to risk being wrong and getting her sick.

Taking a small sip of his tea, Masami relaxed back into his seat and looked at the bird Fehr had called over. She could talk to animals then? Useful. "You're welcome to the seeds if you want them," he said jokingly with a small smile.

"I take it you're holding up well? I mean. How is this life treating you? Retirement..."

Fehr usually carried with her her own tea bags, that she was sure were completely organic and natural and wouldn't hurt her stomach. Surprisingly many teas had a lot of ingredients in them that gave Fehr stomach pain. This was why Fehr had decided to start growing her own tea in a greenhouse. She had a bit of a green thumb.

"Really? Then may I have some?"
Fehr asked, reaching out her cupper hand for Masami to pour some seeds in. If he did Fehr would send him a small smile and pretend to raise her hand, as if to put the seeds in her mouth. But instead she held the hand by her shoulder, and soon two birds flew over to sit on Fehr's shoulder and eat the seeds. Fehr chuckled a little, she usually wasn't much of a joker but now and then she tried. The bird on her knee hopped onto her wrist and also ate the seeds.

"Retirement. I had not thought about it that way, but I suppose that's how it is."
Fehr answered thoughtfully, she had been forced into this retirement, after all, via execution so she had thought of it more as banishment. Banishment she was happy about.
"I'm holding up quite well, taken my situation. Getting accustomed to peace was the hard part, I suppose."
Fehr took some seeds from her hand and threw them on the ground, attracting few more birds.
"I see you are enjoying your retirement to some extent as well, feeding birds."

He handed over a small handful of seeds, not at all believing she would eat them. He smiled a bit at the confirmation when she started feeding the bird on heh shoulder. "Birds are more understanding than peppe. Less judgemental."

He relaxed a bit more in his seat and took a longer sip of his tea. Every second it warmed him, making his joints ache less. This was... well it was nice. He'd admit to that. "My retirement is more of a self-imposed exile. But it serves me well. I make enough money to get by on and live simply. Granted there's not a lot of need for my particular skills so, you know. I just work. It's not glamorous but it keeps a roof over my head and food in my stomach."

Well, even if her joke had not gone through at least the man cracked a smile. The two birds on Fehr's shoulder jumped onto her hand and now she had three birds eating from the palm of her hand. Quite literally.
Masami's comment came out of nowhere, and Fehr couldn't say she disagreed.
"They are. Birds have better things to do than judge, they are too busy to try and stay alive. And the same goes for people, under life-threatning situation they are all just people."

Fehr bend down, which was slightly harder now with her stomach, and set the seeds on the ground. She dusted her hands a bit, they were getting bit cold, and listened to Masami's words. He lived a simple life. Fehr would probably have done so as well if she wasn't always challenging herself to do better and be better, she would never let herself life a life where she just got by. It was both a blessing and a curse, the way Fehr was.
"When you say your particular skills, you mean your skills on combat?"

"That's the gist of it yes," Masami said simply, offering a shrug. There was more to it than that, but it wasn't important to make the distinction. "I suppose I could fight in the arena, but-"

Masami sighed and finished off his cup of tea. He put it back on top of his thermos and slipped it back into his coat into whatever hidden pocket he had for it. His hand paused inside his coat, considering if he wanted to have a drink from his flask. No, he decided, taking a brief sideways glance at Fehr. He'd be polite to the lady.

"-I'm not made for spectator combat. I'm made to kill efficiently without much fuss. Doesn't make for a very entertaining fight."
