Rory continued smiling at Alexis' comment. Laughter was infectious like that. "I guess that depends on what you're being told to do and by who... I keep befriending people who say that, though. Maybe it says something about me and my 'type.'"

And Rory didn't miss how much Alexis seemed to be enjoying himself now. Very much the fighter-type. Was that what Rory was too? No, she thought after some thinking on it. It wasn't the fight. It was the danger. It was the ability to find her way out of danger using creative thinking.

"Yeah, pretty much. The harder I'm hit the more likely I heal and the quicker — or something like that. The bruising you caused is going to stick around, but if you'd broken my rib it'd pop right back into place after a few seconds.

"And I'm definitely a better punching bag than a boxer. I wasn't the best fighter in the group, I just delegated how they should have each been fighting well." She shrugged at it. "I didn't need to fight much, I was good enough at making everyone else fight well."

She rose her arms a little to indicate him and sat, wiping her forehead free of sweat. "I'm ready to see it now if you're willing. Got nothing else to do but go back there and run and that's just not as fun when you can't feel that tightness in your chest, y'know?"

Laughter was indeed contagious and despite himself Alexis was having a good time so he continued on with a small smile. Having a legitimate good time with people seemed to get him into trouble in the past though so it was a little nerve-wracking.

"I don't know about your 'type' or whatever but people are always telling me what to do. Shit's annoying as hell." Unlike Rory, Alexis wasn't really trying to be the strategic thinker type. Despite what he had just said he really did seem to be the most effective when someone else was telling him the right moves to make. He just enjoyed getting out and doing shit. Fighting just happened to be one of those things he felt like he was born to do. All that was great for a young wyvern in what was effectively a family gang but not very good for being on his own.

"With that snap and heal thing makes sense you'd be a good punching bag. You just keep getting up like a zombie or the damn terminator. And you at least know where to hit even if your punches are weak." They were mostly compliments. Alexis didn't really give them out too much and a lot of the time they were wrapped in with an insult or he would just decide to say something was 'not terrible' rather than say it was good.

Alexis grinned when Rory asked to see his wyvern form and he tossed his water bottle and towel aside again. "Some of us still get to feel that sweet strain, but I guess I understand what you're saying terminator." Alexis snickered and then took several steps back to make sure there was plenty of room before shifting into his wyvern form.

Though smaller than most dragons for his age, he was still clearly large enough to throw cars around. He had thick, leathery hide heavy enough to protect him but not enough to make it harder to fly or swim. He crawled forward a bit, using the claws on his two wing-arms and lashed his barbed tail against the ground. Rearing his head and neck back he let out a loud feral roar and the orange-red frills and fins on his face and back flapped and moved with the roar. With all that combined with his very dangerous looking teeth and claws he looked, well, like a Wyvern. A generally more primal and feral type of dragon.

Rory was only vaguely aware of who the terminator was, so she made the mental note to watch the actual movies now that she was being compared to a man with a metal arm (much like Jude.) She grinned and rubbed at the back of her neck sheepishly, suddenly wishing she too had a towel, mostly to hide her face.

"Yeah, I guess I could keep getting back up. Never had to test it. I was usually too quick to get hurt badly. I was the one that zipped around trying to make sure everyone else didn't get hurt, y'know?" A beat, as Alexis explained still getting to feel the sweet strain of exhaustion. "Drat. Yeah, the thing I miss the most from when I was in track. Now it's... kind of like riding a scooter. So not bad, but weird."

And when Alexis was willing to show her his wyvern form, Rory stood back in preparation. She didn't know how big this thing was going to be. She'd seen a dragon shift before and she had been tall as all hell.

Alexis wasn't as big as the dragon had been, but he looked much more feral while he writhed on the ground to move about clunkily and snap his jaws not far from where she was. Lorelai's gut clenched in that familiar gut reaction of fear. She stiffened and readies herself on the balls of her feet in case she needed to move quickly, but Rory knew better than to run from a predator. To show that fear.

While Lorelai had never met animal predators, Halcyon City had bred a different sort of predator. The kind that wore the face of people as they smiled and laughed and stabbed you in the gut, staring you in the eye the entire time. The kind of predator that blocked your path out. Met your eyes coldly and told you how you were going to die.

"Can you still understand me?"

Alexis didn't recognize that he had probably made a reference she didn't really get very well. It just wasn't something he considered even though he knew she wasn't from this world

He didn't really know much about running around trying to make sure others weren't hurt- regardless of what any dumb VR computer thought was appropriate for him. No he was a Brouillard, they did the hurting not healing. It actually felt a little weak and unenthusiastic even in his mind as he thought it. The scooter thing was weird as hell but he could kind of see it. Like feeling you were moving but not experiencing any of the strain of tired muscles or labored breathing. Just cruising like that. It sounded boring.

Alexis watched with amusement as Rory stiffened and prepared to deal with his wyvern form. He was absolutely a predator but only in the more normal, feral beast hunting prey type of predator. While some of his family might have fallen under the other category Alexis wasn't as ruthless or cold as he pretended to be.

He flicked out his long tongue for a second before he replied to Rory's question. He didn't intend to hit her with it or anything, he just felt like stretching it. Just like he really wanted to flap his wings a bit to stretch them too. That though would wait until after he assured her that yes he could understand her and no he was not about to go into an uncontrolled rampage.

"Yess I understand you," he said with a slight lisp as the tongue finished returning to his mouth, "not like my horns replaced my brain or anything dumb like that." He pushed off of the ground with his wing-arms and flapped out his wings a bit before foding them again and returning back to his sort of crouched position. He leaned down so Rory could get a closer look if she wanted. "Don't hide over there like i'm going to snap at you randomly. You wanted to see me, this is me."

Rory relaxed when he showed a capability for speech. He wasn't rampaging and he wasn't about to try and take a bite out of her, and if he did, Rory trusted her ability to get out and away in time.

She cupped her hand over her eyes when Alexis pushed into the sky to stretch his wings, the wind force was enough that Rory had to brace herself. She snorted when he suggested he was hiding.

"Survival instinct, not hiding. I'd be an idiot not to be wary when teeth are snapping not a yard away from me." And beyond that, looking at them, they vaguely reminded her of something back at home. But Rory couldn't think about that.

She strode forward and put her hand on his snout, slow so he had time to pull away or tell her no if he was uncomfortable. It felt different than she'd expected, like a shark. More muscled than squishy and Rory didn't know why it'd be the latter but the thought was there anyway.

"So, crazy fucking question, can you show me what it's like to fly? I don't know if that's offensive to ask?"

Something Lorelai never thought she'd have asked someone. But then, Rory hadn't imagined she'd ever see anything like this. Something from storybooks.

Alexis snorted right back and a little puff of mist came out of his nose. "If I wanted to bite you I would just do it. Besides you're quick enough to get away." Really he didn't blame her. She didn't know much about him, they had just been fighting only minutes prior and of course it was pretty clear she wasn't super used to dealing with things like wyverns.

As she approached he closed his mouth and held his position, allowing her to put her hand on his snout. She was careful and gentle, though he wasn't really worried about her hurting him. He was significantly more durable in wyvern form and a quick swing of the neck and she would probably be flung away. It felt odd to have someone gently poking around on the skin of his face. Not necessarily bad, just unusual.

"You wanna see flying? How 'bout I chuck you in the air so you feel both that and falling," he joked and turned his lizard-like head to give her a toothy grin. Alexis wasn't really used to passengers but he had carried injured people to safety before. Mostly others from his family during their various raids but more recently he had carried that one cat boy to the hospital.

The problem was he had always used his hind legs to carry them like a huge bird of prey carrying their kill. He didn't even know if he could fly properly with someone on his back. The spines that formed the supports for the sail-like feature on his back could fold down when not needed but it would cost him some stability in flight and he wasn't sure how the movements of his body during flight would be affected by a rider.

"No, I guess I can show you, but i'm not a horse- no saddles. You can try climbing up on my back but i've never tried that before. Usually carry things with my legs and drop 'em before I land." He decided to give her the option. Carried by his hind legs it could be pretty uncomfortable for her but he was pretty sure he wouldn't drop her. Riding on his back meant her having to hang on to his spines and sitting roughly where his shoulders were, which would probably be more fun and comfortable for her but more of a risk of her falling off.

Rory snorted at Alexis when he joked (she assumed it was a joke, at least) about throwing her so she could experience both flying and falling all at once. "I've experienced falling plenty, believe me," she told him as she further relaxed.

Carrying things with your feet and dropping them before landing sounded a lot like something a creature did right before it ate said thing. Interesting. Rory rubbed her jawline and walked around him to inspect him better. "Right. Didn't even think about that. Was kind of focused on the head. Your head. Shit, that sounds when I say it like that."

She looked at the spines on his back, stepping on his foot to reach up and lightly touch one as she considered her options. "Good thing I'm flexible," she said with a shrug before boosting herself up onto his neck.

"I don't normally climb on a guy until the third date, but we've all made exceptions in our lives." She patted his neck and leaned forward, laughing. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm joking. I climb on them the first date." She kept a straight face for approximately three seconds before she split into laughter again. "Shit. No. I'm kidding."

Well at least she got that it was a joke. Though Alexis wasn't really all that opposed to throwing her. Given her healing she probably would be fine too- at least as far as he understood it. Also she was exactly right that his description of carrying things did match what he did for carrying food too. It was how things worked when you only had two limbs for actually grasping things.

He craned and twisted his neck to keep an eye on her as she walked around his body. He just shook his head at her comment about being to focused on his head. "Thought you're good at fighting. Everyone knows you can't just focus on the head." He left it intentionally vague. One because it was funny and two because it was funnier that way.

It was bizarre watching and feeling someone climb up to sit on his neck but it wasn't like she had hurt him any by climbing up. He held still except to shift and move a little bit where it could make it easier for her to climb up. Then of course she had started to make jokes about climbing dudes. It didn't make him uncomfortable but well... mostly he just hadn't expected them. Which was really kind of dumb on his part for not expecting it.

What's with this chick? One minute she's worried about me biting her and the next she's making jokes about climbing me?

Alexis waited until she started leaning forward and laughing to suddenly stand up a bit and move his whole body side to side, jostling her around a little bit. Not enough to knock her off though- it was half to get back at her for the jokes and half to test her seating. When she hadn't fallen off he knew he could continue. "Don't make me throw you after all. Or maybe i'll just drop you in the ocean-" He suddenly flapped his wings and pushed off with his legs, quickly beginning to rise through the air. His tail whipping happily behind him. Flying.

Rory snorted and laughed further at Alexis' comment. That was until he stood tall and jerked. Luckily, Lorelai's reaction time was such that her hand shot out and caught her before there was even the thread of hurting herself on a nasty fall. Her laughter died down instantly, torn somewhere between shock and awe at, y'know, sitting on a fucking Dragon — wyvern, whatever.

"Still won't die," she told him. "If you're going to try and fuck me off, you better make sure I die first otherwise I'll come back pissed and that'd be shit for both of us, I think."

Rory leaned forward when Alexis' pushed off the ground to help maintain balance. This was one of those things Rory had to think about. How did she tell this story to her friends without getting a series of jokes about riding someone? Simple answer: there was no way.

"This is fucking cool!" Rory shouted once they were high enough that her hair whipped with the wind and her face stung from the cold. She rose one fist into the air and hooted. "I'm flying fuckers!"

Alexis lifted off and flew higher and higher as he carried Rory up into the sky. It always felt good to stretch his wings and fly. It felt weird having someone sitting there on his neck and shoulders but apparently he was still able to fly as long as he was careful not to do anything too extreme.

As far as he was concerned there were no worries about telling his friends the story or about any jokes. He was enjoying the flying too much. After Rory seemed to be a little more comfortable he began doings some easy banking and diving. Nothing extreme enough that she would fall off- although if he had been alone he definitely would have been doing much more dangerous maneuvers.

Eventually he worked his way up to a fairly decent maneuvers that would have felt like a very unique rollercoaster before finally coming back down to the ground to drop Rory off. Alexis said goodbye, scooped up his water bottle and towel with one of his hind legs and took off again. He was headed east, away from the school.

((We can call the thread done now))
