Oh, he was up quick and coming right for her again. Rory didn't expect him to slide across the ground, but she was quick enough to jump upward and then come down...

Shit. She was coming down on him. She aimed her elbow for his face. Rory would have to get up fucking quick after this, try not to get grabbed by him. There was no way she could beat Alexis in strength. The fact that her reaction time was so good was the only way she was holding up to him in this fight right now, but if she had to face him on the ground? She'd lose in seconds flat for sure.

Lorelei was trying to imagine a person who'd she'd fight that was close to Alexis' style or general powers, but she didn't even know everything he could do. He seemed stronger, faster than normal people and that was simple enough to handle. But what about everything else?

Once again the chick had reacted to his attack and moved out of the way before he could strike. It was getting annoying not being able to land a blow but then Alexis noticed that she was falling right towards him.

Instead of trying to roll out of the way to keep her from striking him he decided to brace himself and let it happen. If she was close enough to hit him then she'd also be close enough to grab. He would have grinned at her but he knew better and instead locked his jaw and turned his head a bit so she wouldn't hit him in the eye or nose. Then he moved to bring his hands up towards his face as if he was trying to protect it. His hope was that he'd be able to grab her arm as she came down, if she wasn't too quick for that, and keep her from being able to dodge his attacks. Maybe use her arm to just slam her whole body into the ground or something. It was hard to plan that far ahead in a fight like this.

She was far too quick for a straightforward attack so he needed to find a way to give him an advantage. Heck, he could have used his breath to disorient Rory and make it harder to see his attacks coming. He still might, if things came to that. For now though he was going to try just using his strength.

So far it seemed like the girl was just one of those quick people it was hard to get your hands on. He was actually kind of curious to feel how hard she hit.

Ah, fuck. Yup. That was what Rory was afraid of. She felt Alexis' hand on her arm and knew — she fucking knew — he had her. But hot damn if she was going to just take this lying down. Okay, technically she would.

Rory knew how to throw a punch. We the People had taught them and while Rory wasn't as strong as most of the people here seemed to be, she was still above the human average. She didn't go to attack his face as one might have expected. Lorelei grabbed at the wrist on the hand that was holding her arm, she aimed to crush it. The wrist was weaker than the arm. Weaker even than the hand.

Fuck. She really had to get off the ground with this guy or she was going to be fucked up. Rory was pretty fucking positive she couldn't take a Dragon — sorry, wyvern — in a strength contest.

He was quick. He didn't have her reaction time, but most didn't. He seemed to have an all around well-rounded attributes. Speed. Strength. Probably good stamina. But his fighting style was... rudimentary. He hadn't been trained — either properly or at all.

It had worked. She fell towards him and he was able to grab hold of one of her arms. He was about to use the grabbed arm as an anchor to hold her there while he punched or kicked her but then she lashed out against his wrist. She didn't do anything serious to it at first, but he didn't want to give her the opportunity to keep going at it. Significant blows to his wrist would almost assuredly make him lose his grip eventually.

Alexis also couldn't just let go- she would just roll out of his reach. Then they would be right back to where they started. He let out a growling screech and, grabbing at her with his other arm too, he threw his own body with all his might into a roll away from her while trying to pull her with him. The intention was to slam her against the ground, hard, and also hopefully distract her from his wrist.

He was starting to breathe heavier. Not a whole lot but it was noticeable. Unlike Rory the running earlier had drained him a fair amount and he didn't have limitless stamina.

Oh, great. Exactly what Rory didn't want to do. She lost her grip on his wrist as he rolled with her, slamming her back against the ground with him on top of her. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

This time, Rory aimed a sharp, hard punch right below Alexis' sternum to knock the wind out of him, not that he didn't sound like he was tired. Adrastia, on the other hand, wasn't. Well, that wasn't entirely true. Adrastia felt tired but then she felt that thrumming in her body and it snapped away as though it had never been in the first place.

At this point, Rory was giving a fluffy of strikes. Fists aimed at Alexis' chest and neck, anything to get him off and away. Give her a little space. She knew where to hit, while seemingly crazed she was strategically aiming her attacks. Things that would hurt but not maim. Not really damage him. This was a spar after all.

Alexis was proud of how hard he had slammed Rory into the ground, especially since she had been avoiding most of his attacks. Well, he was happy about it right up until she socked him in just the right place to make him expel all the air in his lungs.

He coughed and wheezed a bit as he struggled to take in more air. The girl definitely knew what she was doing even if she wasn't nearly as strong as him. Any plans Alexis had started to form in his mind were immediately swept away under the sheer torrent of punches. Each one individually wasn't that damaging, though they were clearly well-aimed to hit places that would cause him pain, but she just. Didn't. Stop.

Alexis yelled angrily and let go of her to bring one arm up to help protect his head from the constant wave of blows. "Fucking.... hell," he snapped as he then brought the elbow of that arm down towards her, "why the fuck.... you don't even.... slow down. What are you?" His body was getting a little tired but between his anger and frustration he was determined that there was no way he was going to lose. He wasn't really injured at all anyways. His body could easily stand up against people wielding metal bats and chains. Actually he knew that from personal experience with his family members.

Despite the pain of the fight, Alexis was actually enjoying it. Fighting was straightforward and having a difficult opponent was something he had really come to appreciate even before coming to Manta Carlos.

Rory had no way of dodging the elbow as it came down hard on her sternum. Fuck that hurt like a bitch! She groaned, sure that she would be bruised from that one later.

Mentally, Rory calculated as she had back when she was Adrastia and she had her team at her back. But in this moment of lucidity, where the pain ebbed away and she could see Alexis straddling her clearly, with that look in his eye. Rory understood.

There was a certain thing about fights, spars especially. When they went on long enough, people got to a point of no return. Things escalated too much when you had two stubborn people — for instance, her and him.

Lorelai tapped the ground a few times. "Alright. Alright. Let me up. I'm not going to attack you anymore."

He won, but that was fine. Rory couldn't afford to go crazy and she couldn't afford for someone else to go crazy on her. This was not one of those times.

She grinned. "god damn, you're a strong motherfucker, aren't you? And I'm... well partially human. Half alien, known as the Ijian. Basically, we fight world eating Gods or something. It's a long story." She rubbed at her chest and winced. He hadn't cracked anything, if the damage was that bad it'd have healed already.

"You pack a punch. One of these days I'm going to want to see what that Wyvern form can do, even if I'm sure it could eat me in about one bite."

Alexis had brought down that elbow with a solid whack and based on the sounds Rory made he knew she had really felt that one. He had raised his arm back again to shield himself from what he assumed would be another wave of blows but they never came.

When Rory didn't continue the fight Alexis looked at her face, trying to figure out what she was plotting and then.... she had tapped out.

What?!? No... Things were just getting fun....

He wasn't really sure he wanted to count it as a real win and, though he would never admit it, he probably would consider it a draw but he had definitely enjoyed the fight. With a deep breath to snap himself out of his focus on fighting, and a subsequent puff of cool mist from his mouth, he rolled off of Rory and stood up.

"And you're quick as shit. Fucking pain in the ass to catch. Guess with you fighting gods or whatever that makes sense," he replied with a grin and actually offered her a hand to get up. He told himself it wasn't because he was being nice though. Being nice was part of the reason his parents had said he wasn't tough enough. Though a pretty good portion of his small number of friends on the island had come as a result of fights like that one and he was secretly hoping Rory might be one of them.

"I'll have to show you how I fight as a wyvern sometime. Maybe I'll toss a few cars at you or something," he joked as he thought about how much damage he could do to someone if he were to go all-out. Not that he actually wanted to do it unless she would survive. Unlike a lot of his family members he still had never killed anyone.

There was one more thing Alexis wanted to ask about and it was proving extremely difficult to bring up. It meant admitting that he needed help but this seemed like the best opportunity he was going to get. "Uh, you seem to know your way around a fight. Maybe if we spar more you could teach me a thing or two?" He winced at how lame he must have sounded. If he parents heard about- actually fuck that. They sent him here. Screw them if they didn't like him taking advantage of the opportunity.

Lorelai laughed. It was nice to laugh, she'd been doing it, but it was always just a tad hollow — except when she was talking about home. Man, she missed home.

She took the offered hand and pulled herself up, wiping dirt away from her clothing, her hair, and her face. "I didn't get to fight Gods if I'm being honest. It's just something the activated Ijian —" here she motioned to her golden eyes, "— were supposed to be for. And it was a particular type of God, so."

And the idea of cars being tossed at her made her laugh even harder. "That one has never happened, surprisingly. I think I'll bruise less fighting your Wyvern form, but I'm sure I'll also lose." She shrugged and blew some grass off her lip. "Weird regeneration," she explained before he could ask. "It only heals major damage and it kind of feels like snapping a glowstick. Always fun."

Then they were lulled into what Rory would have called comfortable silence if Alexis didn't have the air of someone working up the courage to ask something. And admittedly, of all the things Lorelai thought he'd ask, fighting tips was not anywhere near the top. Or the bottom. It wasn't on the list at all.

"Oh," she said, not bothering to hide even an iota of her astonishment. "I mean, sure. I'd ask you to teach me how to punch that hard, but that's more a body thing. Sparring, in general, should help you out a lot. I didn't have any formal training when I started hero work. But, sure. I'll help out if you promise to show me what that cool Wyvern form can do."

Alexis was thrown off by the laughter until he realized she wasn't laughing at him. Then he realized that he had himself been giving a legitimate, honest to god, happy grin towards her and tried to return his face to a more neutral expression. It didn't really work in the face of her laughter so he just gave up and let himself smile a little bit more for a change. He didn't bother to try cleaning himself off though. Wouldn't matter anyway since he was planning to leave in his wyvern form when they were done. Probably to go relax at that little cove he had been chilling at lately.

As a rule Alexis seriously hated gold. The actual metal was excruciatingly painful for him and his family to touch and as a result he had sort of grown up to hate the color as well. All that said though, he wasn't as bothered by the fact she had golden eyes. He didn't necessarily consider them pretty or amazing at this point either, he just kind of noticed them and then moved on.

"Being told what you're supposed to do is lame anyway. Screw that." Alexis snickered as he considered how much snapping she would experience in a fight against his wyvern form. Even without the cars. Though it was an idea to think about. It had been a while since he actually did something like throw car around just for fun. "Guess the regeneration thing explains why you didn't care about me pulling my punches. Makes us both good punching bags in different ways."

Alexis thought he had sounded lame, but Rory didn't seem to react poorly. She just seemed very surprised. Which, to be fair, was pretty reasonable considering Alexis had caught himself off guard by deciding to ask for help in the first place. She had agreed to more sparring though and that was the important part. Also she was complimenting his wyvern form even though she hadn't seen it before. "Grea- err fine. I guess that's fair. Sparring will be fun and i'll show you my wyvern form whenever you're ready. But i'm not really the showoff type." Ugh, she had mentioned hero work. Alexis was pretty sure heroes were lame but Rory didn't seem too bad. It was probably something he should just ignore and overlook. It wasn't like she was any more of a hero than him now that she was here anyway.

He took a moment to brush aside some of his, very wet, hair out of his face and walked over to grab his water bottle and towel before continuing. With the towel thrown over his shoulder he took a swig of water.
