"Yes. I might.. Call it an early day. Past few weeks have been havoc for my sleep."

And it showed now. Octain didn't care for awards. He wanted to toss them all away. Every single one. He gave it to her to show a token of affection. Or just to show that he will appreciate all the work that she would do in the future for him. Even if she rejected him. "No. Keep it. I care not for awards and it would only collect dust for me. As for you. It is an early appreciation of all your work. in the future." He shook his head. "Do not thank me yet My Fair Lady."

He held up his cup. "And to a prosperous relationship." And looked away to take his sip. Taking off his mask and removing it almost like he had trained for years on it. The glass could see the mask removed, but the face looked bare. As if the windows had magic to alter Octain's face.

"Your powers are interesting. Yet you are right. Fire is the sign of a phoenix. When killed, it burns and from the ashes come it once more. Though.. Rambling is safe in this room." He said while writing it all down to use later to cross reference later. Though the information was interesting. He wanted to try to find a way to make it better. Or just to understand. He remembered reading it as he looked through his bookshelf about the seasons.

Though like feared. "For Arcane's sake.. It's at home." He said wanting to swear as well, but that was good enough. For reading material. Though it was weird. Since he would either sleep with the blood on his chest or stay up all night with it and go for another day with no sleep to find things out.

Octains voice changed from his normal tone to a more forceful tone. "Don't you DARE kneel before me" He took her hand and pulled her up holding one of her hands in both of his. His voice changed back to a softer tone. "I am a Magistar, but you work with me. Not for me. We are equals. You do a great service for me that I cannot thank you enough for. I do not want a crown. Nor to I ask for one." He let go when she talked about the awards. "I care not for awards. Deserving or not. I do this for the future of the Arcane. To pass my knowledge onto the next generation. So they can all understand and find their own way in the world with their magic. So they can pass on their information to their children. My awards do me no good."

It really showed that Octain cared not for awards. Just that. He saw no reason for him to have them. His theories were his life and his job as a magistar. To make information for the next generation of Magic users. He called it a higher calling that was over awards. Though was humble enough to still accept them. even if no one would ever see them.

Though he could still recall Genesis' silky smooth hands. He wanted to hold them once more, but felt that would be a bad idea.

While Genesis wasn’t used to office work quite yet, she could sympathize with him and understand how tireless effort contributed to mental and physical deterioration. It was her job to, anyway. Besides, now that they had gotten friendlier she figured it was best to see each other as such. He needed sleep, and it didn’t take a professional diagnosis to realize that. ”Please do get some rest. I cannot imagine the sort of exhaustion you have right now. All these theories and academics… I’m rather interested in all of it. That much I can promise you. You need rest, though. I’d be more than grateful to listen later after you have caught up on well-deserved sleep.”

But gratitude for him seemed to only be acceptable in certain doses. For once she kneeled, she was met with quite the shock as his tone shifted. Immediately she stood straight as a board upon hearing her language. Startled, at first, fearing that she somehow disrespected him entirely. What quelled her suspicions though was the touch of his hand against her delicate fingers. Her breath hitched for a moment, before she ultimately swallowed her pride and looked at him with her wide blue eyes. From the prior sudden motion a bit of her rose-colored hair fell from her cleanly messy updo, to which she tucked back behind one of her elongated ears. A motion of orderly behavior, and a sort of nervousness. On any case she would retain professionalism and look upon her manager with attent. Listening to what he had to say. All of which… Relieved her.

”You are a very honorable man. Humility is one of the finer aspects of character, and it’s an honor to see one who takes it to heart.” She smiled once more, looking at him directly as they were occupational equals. ”Well, it certainly appears that you are on task at teaching the future generation. I’m sure the trade of magic will not be lost upon this youth as it has the rest of the world.” To that, Genesis’ demeanor diminished quite apparently. She looked towards the window once more. Approaching it with her hands folded into each other in front of her. ”It is quite the shame that we must live in a world where all magic is witchcraft and unholy. Either that, or a mere slight of a hand.” Her hands raised to press against the glass. A look of longing clear in her eyes. ”I wish the humans could see it. That the creatures and elements they read to their children in fables and rhymes are just as real as you or I. That those dragons they fear are intellectual beings that could take to the skies if they weren’t confined. That the incantations, spells and potions weren’t some con created by a fool yearning for money. That I and my people aren’t mere characters written in books.”

She looked back at her boss. ”It is a sad world in which we live. And yet, we cannot blame it. For there is beauty to be found despite such circumstances. I believe that you hold that sort of hope for what can become of this place. For me… I believe I can help as well. Because I belong somewhere...” She gazed to her palms. The stars appearing once more, as tiny sparkles floating in her hands. ”But it is certainly not here.”

Octain smiled lightly at Genesis' comment when she told him to rest. The last person who said that ended up knocked out of the floor after trying to take lexi out on a date that he was keeping an eye on the whole time. Though that wasn't here nor there. He didn't want to worry her so he spoke. “I'll sleep when I can get some time to myself. For now I am awake. This is nothing.” He said. Looking at her. Her slender body. She was gorgeous in this light that almost put him to putty, though that could have been due to how tired he was. No one would really know till he figured out what was even wrong with him. If there was. He was just.. In... Love. That was it. “Or maybe tonight if I can get to my bed before getting called back out for something.” With his luck. He would be called out. “Sometimes the only want to deal with some ruffians is to put them in their place. Tis a good thing I cannot kill with magic. My Fair Lady.”

“Magic is only seen to those with open eyes. If you close your eyes you see no magic. You are closed to the worlds splendor.” He said. Trying to make light of the situation but she was right on each case. The world did hate magic to the point of extinction. “Technology is the bane of magic, though.. It has helped us quite a bit.” He said looking at the lights of the classroom. Trying to find a good reason to say that. Even if he he was going to say someone else could be the one who told her this. It had to be octain. “Even if the world hates magics and the creatures. I find beauty in the eye of a beholder. We know not of what they are for sure, but they are all the Arcane's choice. Or friend.” He said then looking at Genesis. He was worried about her, as if to be worried about someone close to him. Even if he...

He felt a surge of magic fill his body. As she spoke again. The feeling of a thousand years of research on elves. She felt... Unwanted. Octain Took a few steps and placed a hand on her shoulder. She couldn't find a place to call her own. Or someone maybe. She seemed to have the same issue as him. He felt unwanted. Unappreciated for the reasons that he wanted. To be someone to someone. “Genesis. It takes time to find where you fit in. You shall find someone to call your own, and some place to call your own. I am here for you.” He said slowly massaging her shoulder. “No matter what.”

He pulled out a small compass and held it out to her. “Take this.” he said. “It's a compass that will always follow your hopes and dreams. It will guide you to what you want. What your crave. So I have been told.” He said opening it. It pointed towards genesis in his hand as he closed it as he noticed and took her hand and placed it into it. “For now... Your place is at my side. Helping a broken man find his way through the working world and to allow me some time to myself now and then. You are a bright girl, albeit beautiful.” He said teasingly. Trying to lighten her mood.

“You will find what you search for soon enough My Fair Lady.”

Genesis allowed her mind to flip between two spaces. On one hand, she was personally concerned about the wellbeing of her employer. On the other, she wanted to focus on his opinions on the dying art of magic. His exhaustion versus his virtue. What was more important? She shook her head a bit. Not leaving the side of the window. ”It must be. At the same time, it is most honorable that you follow a code. Magic requires one, though should not be limited in greed. Only virtue.”

What he shared with her almost threw her off guard. Because she hadn't heard someone who shared her opinion in a long, long time. ”Yes... Professor. I could not agree more.” She uttered in her naturally breathy voice, quiet yet firm. Magic was given poor treatment in the outer society. As well as the creatures that possessed it. ”I just hope whatever Arcana and the Gods have planned is for the benefit of us users. If not... Our kind may be in peril. And what we and all these creatures hold is too scared to let slip by.”

Her forehead softly touched the glass. Next to the light touch of her fingertips. Her eyes closed, but not for long. Mere moments afterwards she blinked in focus as she felt a warm touch to her almost bony shoulder. His touch. Her boss, her friend. His touch soothing her conscience as she looked back at him. Her face serene. ”Thank you. I do hope so, although with this island comes great opportunities. I have... Hope. Especially since I have the Magistar to guide me. And to that, it is not possible for me to express my gratitude enough. Your support shall help tremendously. I humbly deliver my many thanks, sir Octain.” Though her composure was kept erect and clean-cut as usual, something broke that reputation as it was clear that his touch nearly melted her cold exterior. Her shoulder blades shifted smoothly as she let him massage her. This was... Highly unusual. But she wouldn't question it. Nothing like this happened before. Were careers supposed to be like this? If they were... Well, she couldn't complain.

”Mmm....”

Whether or not she registered the content mumble of sorts in her mind wasn't apparent. Still, the touch felt good. And it served as a comfort to her that he was behind her all the way. She only turned to receive another gift from him. Something not quite so emotional. This one, physical. ”Oh professor...” She looked at the little device he held out. A compass. For her. As it aligned itself, she looked up to him. Not noticing where the needle pointed, for her eyes were on his face only. ”I am not sure what to say...” She gaped, with a smile. Lightly she took it in her hands as she continued to listen. Dutifully, and respectfully. In turn for such generosity, she was being asked of for something so simple. A friend. But was this simple? She supposed it was more complex than she realized. She had to unravel his mysteries all the while maintaining professionalism in the workplace. She wanted to get to know him better in between all the work-stress and endless amounts of filing. So she held the compass in her palms dutifully. Looking up at him with a proud face. ”It will be my honor to be your companion and employee. I shall do my work to the fullest of my ability. And if there is anything you need of me... Anything... Please, alert me. I will be more than willing to assist.” She bowed her head, with a bright smile. He looked away for a moment, which gave her a chance to glance at her new gift. The compass' needle did as Octain said. Her largest desire, her ultimate goal... It pointed to the sky that housed the stars. Just as she thought. But was there anything more? The thought touched her head. No. This was her purpose. She was the only hope for the Zodiac elves. There was nothing more to be desired in her lifetime.

And how that could change so quickly.

As her fingers traces its intricate playing, the Elf heard his voice once more. Beautiful. She was... Beautiful. ”...P-Pardon, sire?” Her mind raced to think of whether or not he said she was before. Regardless, it seemed that the connotation was different. Her eyes widened a bit. Oh... Dear... What was this feeling? She tried to ignore it. It felt like her chest was tightening, though it must have not been serious. She thought not, but somehow... Somehow that five second exchange caused the needle to turn from the sky. Ever slowly, towards the professor himself. Octain was apparently a prevailing desire.

The pink that naturally undertones her cheeks grew in vividness, deepening to almost fuchsia in a bit of a blush. This... Can't be right... She swallowed hard to only slam it shut and withdraw it in her bag. She wasn't going to discuss this now. ”Oh... It's um... It is wonderful... And beautiful, Octain. It shall come in great use for me.” She confirmed. A hint of flaking composure in her voice. Taking a moment to fully put on that militaristic exterior. ”Oh... Um, please pardon my behavior.” She ran her hands through her hair and straightened her posture. Her folded hands a sign of reserved judgement. ”How has it worked for you? Has it pointed to your heart's wish as well?”

"As Chaotic Magic is.. A code will only hold it for so long before the Arcane may change it's rules to survive. Since the dawn of time Magic adapted to fit. Adapted to all situations Genesis. Believe it or not. Humans.. Elves.. Dwarves and all things that walk this plane. This existence is magic trying to adapt and create new things." Though Octain's greed for more power was an endless void of hunger. Though his main goal was to pass on all his information to the next one who would take up his mantle. Who would take his burden onto the next generation of mages to pass on what they learned, through him. All his books. All his knowledge and above all. His secrets hidden deep with in the confines of his spellbook as well. "Though Greed is predominate in magic.. Those with Virtues hold themselves in such high regards that even they fall to greed and pride Genesis.. I have seen that happen."

He realized that she had agreed with how he viewed this and chuckled tiredly. His eyes having a hard time staying open as he adjusted his mask to turn his tea into coffee as a placebo effect to try and help keep him up. "Indeed. I fear that the Arcane will be as forgiving as the gods, though they seem to keep an eye on us. Only to see what will happen. We live. We fight. We love. We are like the humans they protect yet despise in every way."

Octain's hands worked on his friend's shoulders. To help calm her down. To try and get her accustomed to the island before things went south for her. So he wouldn't have to watch her leave again. "I believe it will My Fair Lady." He said softly. Trying to reassure and just drop some kind of subtle hint to her. "Hope is the first step on the road to heaven My Fair Lady.." He said. "I shall be here to help you when you require it Genesis. Should you need me you will always know where to find me. You need not thank me, Lady Genesis. I have yet to do anything of note." He said with a smile as he looked down her back, almost melting on the spot as his hands softly patted her shoulders with one last rub as he smiled under his mask.

"You are welcome. Though your desires may change from what your goals are.. It takes the feeling of ones heart into account more than anything. All magic comes from the heart.. Just as much as the mind. Your mind could be at peace, but thyn heart must also be calm." He said putting his hand over his heart. Just her presence made his heart beat a little faster than usual. The only thing he could come up with was that he.. He must have fall for something about her. "You need not worry about me. I am not a hard man to please. As long as you can schedule me and keep me on top of things I shall be pleased with your work." he said as he felt a wave of exhaustion hit as he leaned back on his desk to try and keep him from falling over.

He let it slip that he found her beautiful, but when she confronted him he wasn't sure on what to do as he read through his spellbook really quick, trying to find something really quick even if his mind was becoming clouded. With thoughts of the book opening, but something shown. What was it? He could feel like he saw a face through the words that binded him to the arcane, but who's face was it? What was his future!? "I am sorry.. I should not have said that. Though.. I am glad I have an assistant that is easy on these eyes.."

He said with a smile. Though he realized that no one could see his smile under the mask as he sighed to himself. Just.. thinking about that. The mask. How it hid his face. His features and his past. He looked at Genesis. His Orange eyes gazed about her face. Just everything he found somewhat attractive.

"I am glad you have taken a liking to it. I made it myself while I traveled. I have many items that do different things.. One of my talents is magical items. I hope it is of use to help find what your heart desires and what you want to find with in your life. Should you require assistance on anything you shall always find a an extra set of hands from me. My skills will be yours to command. Unless it goes against my own creed." He said with a slight chuckle. Trying to make a light hearted joke.

Octain did notice something in Genesis that was odd. Her cold exterior was now seeming to be shattered. Coming to a very... Interesting shade of fuchsia as he realized that his daughter did the same thing. Just.. It was because he embarrassed her. Though she seemed more.. Before he could put his finger on it she went back to her normal exterior as he was about to catch on. "You need not ask for forgiveness Genesis." When he was asked if it showed his desire. He looked at the window, then back at her. "It did.. Though I fear that my desire is a little out of my own expertise.."

Though his life was counter productive to trying to get someone into his life who would ultimately leave him to his insanity and his constant thoughts as well as his overbearing protection of Lexi.

"Genesis, I shall try to compile a reading list for you overnight or before the end of the day tomorrow to allow you take some book at a time for reading should you wish. The books in here shall be translated in a few days time to allow for your reading pleasure in your native tongue for an easier time to read." He spoke while realizing that all his books were in a language that only Octain could understand let alone anyone else now.
