Trying to Play the Piano

The young female walked through the hallway, footsteps light and soft. Short, black hair framed her face, seeing as her gaze was turned toward the ground. A black, long-sleeved shirt could be seen on her upper body, and black pants with many chains on her lower. She was looking for the music room, since she had had the urge to try and play the piano in this early afternoon. She didn't really actually know how to play, but she could try, right?

She didn't have a schedule yet, which meant no classes. Until she got one, she would be free to do whatever she pleased. And, well, the first thing she absolutely had to do was find where the music room was.

After a few more minutes of walking, she found it. She opened the door, glad to see that no one was in there. A small smile came to the twelve-year-old's mouth, and she stepped into the room, leaving the door wide open. Her smile widened upon seeing a piano in the corner of the room.

"Perfect," she said to herself. Without another thought, she walked over to the piano and took a seat, resting her fingers on the keys. She thought for a few moments about what she might want to try to play, and then started pressing lightly on the keys, trying to find the right note. This would be so much easier if there weren't so many keys...

After about five minutes, she found the keys she would need to start playing at least the beginning of the song. She started playing slowly, trying her best not to mess up.

Sonlath was already in the room just waking up with a ciggarette in his mouth...they wouldent let him in the dorm room for his habits and he thought he could stomach down the memories as long as he had a drink and a bud in the middle which went well he rubbed his eyes and gave a soft yawn before replacing the ciggarette as a lighter flicker could be heard echoing in the almost empty room he hadn't seen or cared about the girl playing the piano...

Alright... keep going slowly... you're doing good... The girl thought to herself as she continued, biting the inside of her lip in concentration. She had messed up just a little bit, but not enough to ruin it or anything. She was actually quite proud of herself for doing this well for not really knowing how to play. Besides, who didn't make mistakes? She continued playing, having not noticed the boy that had woken up just yet.

She was about to start humming along when she heard the lighter. She blinked and she froze, almost cursing, but stopping herself. I didn't think anyone else was in here... she thought to herself. Her eyes slowly lifted from the keys and searched for the source of the noise. As she looked around, she noticed that she had left the door open... great. She saw the boy and the lighter, as well as the cigarette. He didn't look to be much older than her, if not the same age. He's... smoking? That's not very good... she thought to herself. However, she wasn't going to say anything about it. She didn't know him, and besides, she rarely spoke her mind.

But, she decided she might as well say hi or something. "Hello," she said quietly.

He just waved not in the mood to brush her off as he sighed and caught a flame putting it up to his mouth and the ciggarete caught the flame as he let out a small puff of smoke not headed in her direction

The girl smiled somewhat when he waved, and watched as he lit the cigarette and let out a puff of smoke. She was glad that it wasn't in her direction, but the fact that he was smoking still kind of made her a bit concerned. That really isn't healthy... surely he knows that... she thought to herself. She wanted to say something about it, but figured that it wasn't her job... it was someone else's. And she was sure he knew, anyway... it wouldn't exactly be good to get into an argument with the first person she met here. She hid the fact that she didn't like it well enough, and figured she should at least try to be friendly.

"My name's October," she said. "What's yours?"

Sonlath looked at her. "Why would you like to know?" He said not really angryily or annoyed but more curious she hadnt done anything to upset him so no reason to get upset or anything...

October blinked for just a moment before gently shrugging her shoulders. "No reason, really. I was just wondering, that's all," she said. "You're the first person I've met here, and I just wanted to know." Her smile remained while she spoke, and she looked at the piano keys before looking back at the boy.

Sonlath just shrugged taking out a beer and popping the cap off before raising it to his mouth he didn't even seem to know or care that she hated his habbits nor would he care even if she had told him.

October forced her eyes not to go wide. She quickly looked at the piano keys when he took out the beer... he smoked, and he drank? Oh, goodness.... she thought to herself. That's not good. That's not good at all! She swallowed, playing a few keys softly in the hopes of keeping her mind off of it for at least a moment. She bit the inside of her lip as well, concentrating for a few moments.

Once the shock was somewhat gone, she looked back at the boy, forcing herself to smile somewhat. "Sorry about that," she said, speaking about how she had just randomly started playing some of the keys. "So... I'm guessing you're not going to tell me you're name?" Her head tilted to the side somewhat, waiting for a response.

"Nope." He said plain out...he had no reason to act nice to a total stranger...especially not someone who was as kind as her she defeinetly had it a lot better then him he only judged that though.
