Trouble

((OCC: Are there any places to learn about powers? I saw it once on the 2nd floor but as soon as I signed in and refreshed the page, it was gone. It was really weird.))

"Ya. I'm good," Gwen said. It was just a stumble, she was clumsy today. "No, I can't do much with air yet, I am beginning. I want to be able to float. That would be so cool! I am working on it. I don't think a breeze will keep me up in the air... Maybe I should lose some weight," she joked. "My mom can control air too and she says I am getting better. She can float and is teaching me. Do they have classes here for powers? Ever since I came to this school I have been training on my own because there is no one to teach me. But, enough about me, tell me about you."

((OCC: I think there was, because I remember it too.))

"So, your mom taught you before coming here? My dad taught me, but he stopped teaching me way before I came here..." Ember trailed off, thinking about her dad, well adopted dad that is. Still, she missed him even if he wasn't her true dad. "I knew about my power since I was six years old, and until I was ten, my dad would teach me day and night. At first I hated it, but I improved greatly.
After my mom and dad died...and finding out I was adopted, my grandpa took care of me and taught me for the remaining seven years before he sent me here." She could feel a tear squeezing its way out, but she quickly wiped it away before it was noticed. "If you want, I could help you out with your practicing. Controlling fire isn't that much different than controlling air."

She noticed a tear rolled down Ember's cheek before she wiped it away. She must miss her parents, Gwen thought. I would if I were in her situation. Changing the subject back to training, "That would be nice. We could help each other out."

Smiling she imagined Ember and her training. This is great, I get to train with someone. This could be fun. She smiled. Turning back to Ember she said, "My mom trained my until I was 15 and then stopped. She got a new job at that time and it took up much of her time. She was working to earn money to send me to this school. We both worked pretty hard. My dad tried to help me train but he controled earth, earth and air just aren't alike, at all. But he was a good archer though. He taught me all I know about it. He is really good, hitting the bullseye from 100 yards away. I hope to be as good as him someday."

Suddenly, she heard a rustle.

Ember laughed, though she did have a point. Even though she was practically a professional with her fire skills, she could always learn more things. "It'd be fun." She told Gwen with a smile.

"Your dad's an archer? That's pretty cool. The only skill I have besides being a pyromaniac is martial arts, which my grandpa taught me, believe it or not. he sure was one agile old man." Ember laughed at the memory of her grandpa teaching her a triple back flip judo-kick. "With enough practice, you'll be better than your dad."

Ember stopped in her tracks, hearing a sound. She inflated her fire ball so it would illuminate more of their surroundings. "Did you hear that?" Ember asked, her voice no higher than a whisper.

"Yes," Gwen whispered back. What if it was a teacher? They were so busted! She didn't know if she could handle detention for life.

Looking at her surroundings she saw nothing. Ember expanded her fire ball so more of the scenery fell into light. Gwen was both nervous and excited. She was frightened about being caught but also strangely excited about all the action.

I got to meet a new friend and possibly get busted she thought with a smile. But, it could be another student, unlikely. Ember was here but she was probably the only other student out here. All of the others were rule followers. Or it could be a creature of some sort, very likely.

Gwen froze in her track next to Ember, listening for a sound of any kind.

Ember was slightly nervous, a little scared, but really excited. What if it was a teacher? Or some rabid animal? Or a psycho serial killer? She tried calming herself down, knowing that she could take one at least two of the three situations that had appeared in her mind. She looked over at Wynne, and guessed that she was probably thinking about the same possible situations.

Ember pushed her fire ball a little more further so it could expand it's view even more. The farther it went, Ember would keep a close eye for anything. And then she saw something. At least, she thought she saw something. It looked like a giant paw or something, but when Ember blinked, it was gone. It could've easily been her demented imagination. "Did you see anything?" She asked Wynne, hoping she'd seen what Ember thought she'd seen.

"Did you see anything?" Ember asked her.

"No. But I was looking the other way," Gwen replied with excitement mixed with fear in her voice. Gwen looked over at Ember. She had the same expression on that she had, nervousness mixed with eagerness to find out who or what this was. She looked back at Gwen.

Gwen saw a paw appear out of the bushes, or thought she did. She blinked and looked again but saw nothing. She looked to her right, then to her left, searching for the source of the noise. Gwen heard rustling and turned to see a shaking bush. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a gleam, possibly the eyes of the monster or what ever was there, glanced in the direction of it, and, spotting nothing, looked back to the bush.

She felt like a fish in a bowl, surrounded by creatures, all watching her every move.

Ember was getting shaky. usually this never happened to her, if so; rarely. It was most likely the spotting of the giant paw or the glimmering eyes that she had spotted as well out of the corner of her eye. But of course, when she blinked to make sure she was seeing correctly, they were gone.

She knew that she couldn't just stand there with Gwen, waiting for the thing to appear and scare them half to death, especially if it was just a squirrel or a rabbit. Slowly, very slowly, Ember took a few steps closer to the bush Gwen had been looking at. She had noticed that Gwen noticed that it was moving, and she had noticed it as well.

"I'm going to investigate a little..." Ember said in a low whisper. "Wanna come?" She nodded over to the bush and slowly began making her way towards it, leaving a floating fireball next to Gwen just in case she decided not to join her.

Gwen heard Ember say she was going to investigate. Gwen looked up from the bush and saw her creeping over toward it, taking a fire ball with her and leaving one for Gwen in case she was not coming. Gwen slowly followed Ember, wondering what thing could possibly be out here in the forbidden. Well, a lot of things.

As they crept closer to the moving bush, Gwen heard a growl. She stopped in her tracks, terrified. She wondered if Ember heard it too but she couldn't find the voice to ask. She just froze in her spot, hoping not to attract too much attention to herself.

As Ember moved forward, she quickly glanced back to see if Gwen had decided to stay behind or to follow; she saw that Gwen had decided to go along with her. Ember tried to be as quiet as possible when approaching the bush. After all, she had no idea what could be behind it.

Suddenly, she heard a growl come from behind the bush, and instantly she froze. She glanced back to Gwen and saw that she too, froze. Slowly, Ember turned around and asked, "Do you want to go back?" in a very low whisper. Ember was scared, she had to admit it, but she was still slightly excited. Still, she wouldn't continue if Gwen didn't want to.
