Tragedy Strikes

Dani glanced at her watch. She'd been gone four a good hour. October would probably need help taking care of the twins anyway. She went back into the school and walked towards the girls dorm section. She took her lightweight sweater off as she opened the door to her and October's dorm room.

"Hey, I'm back!" She yelled. She dropped her sweater on a chair and picked Alyeria up. She had an U.F.T.O[unidentified food object] in her little hands. It rather looked like a roll, but one never knew with cafeteria food. Dani rolled her eyes. Yeah, it was a biscuit, but October shouldn't have let Aly have it. She could have choked on it.

Dani took it away and ate the rest of it. "Hey, October! Where's Alex?" She called, guessing that October was somewhere in the dorm.

Upon hearing the door open with Dani's voice, October finished up changing Alex's diaper. Kids really were a hassle to take care of, although they were adorable. "He's with me," the thirteen year old called as she picked the child up. She kissed his head and walked back to where Dani was.

An eyebrow raised slightly. "Where'd Aly's roll go?" she asked, placing Alexander back in his crib.

Dani set Alyeria down on the ground and started playing with her. "I ate it. Why'd you give it to her in the first place? You know she could choke on it. Especially since you weren't in here watching her." Dani replied. She started building a tower out of blocks.

October scratched the back of her head nervously. Adelina would have murdered her if something had happened to Alyeria. "Sorry. But at least she didn't eat it all, right? I just kind of forgot and I couldn't find the baby food..." The girl knew that was no real excuse, but that was the best she could do. She looked at the sleeping Alex, then back to Dani and the female twin.

"I have no idea how Addie and Andrew can deal with these kids... they're so much work!" she said.

Dani shrugged. "It doesn't matter, really. I mean, she is okay, after all." She said. She showed Aly how to knock down the block tower and then started building it back up.

"Yeah, no joke." She agreed. Her head started pounding, which was odd, since headaches usually just creep on. Her stomach started hurting, and she got a metallic taste in her mouth, like she had just sucked on a penny. She gently, yet hurriedly, pushed Aly off her lap and ran to the bathroom to throw up.

October smiled. All that really mattered was that Aly was alright. She walked over to where she and Dani were playing blocks, still just watching and not playing much. However, when the older female got up and ran into the bathroom, a look of worry came to the thirteen year old's face. Then, of course, she heard the pleasant sound of vomiting. That was weird... usually things like that didn't just creep up.

She patted Alyeria's head and watched for a moment as she cheerfully knocked down the block tower with a delighted squeal. October knocked on the bathroom door, not knowing if she should go in or not. "Dani? Are you ok?" she asked, worry showing in her voice.

Once Dani had finished vomiting, she rinsed her mouth at and washed her hands and flushed the toilet. "Yeah. I guess I'm okay." She went shakily back into the dorm room and got into bed. She curled up in a little ball, hoping it would make her stomach stop hurting. It usually did.

But this time it didn't. She closed her eyes tightly. When she opened them, she looked at October. "Probably just a 24 hour virus or something." She said.

October watched as Dani came out and curled up into bed, hoping that she would, in fact, be alright. However, a bad feeling was entering her stomach, and she had a rather pessimistic feeling that something quite bad was going to happen.

"Probably just a 24 hour virus or something."

"Yeah, but it came on so suddenly," she said. "Anyway, do you want me to take Aly and Alex out for a while? Or should we just stay here?" She didn't want the kids to get sick, after all.

"Yeah it did. I guess it happens sometimes or something," Dani said. She looked at the twins. "Yeah, you'd probably better. Like take 'em for a walk or something." She said. She started to roll over, but she heard one of the twins making a gagging noise. She rolled back over just in time to see Alyeria puke.

October gulped when she saw Alyeria vomit. What was she supposed to do?! She didn't have any medicine for this! She gripped the sides of her head and pulled her hair, panicking. She quickly got some paper towels and cleaned up the throw up, then looked at Dani. "What do we do? How do we help her? Is she gonna die? WHAT DO WE DO WHAT DO WE DO!!!" she screamed, absolutely panicking. She was thirteen, how could she know how to handle sick babies?!
