Mery made her way to the library. She was supposed to be meeting Nick there. She felt a little awkward being in a room full of books that she couldn't read. She picked Pooka up.

Mery turned to where his voice was coming from. She smiled slightly. "Can't complain...well, I'm sure I could find something to complain about, but I won't. How are you?" She replied. She set Pooka down, knowing he would follow Nikki wherever he went.

Nicolas laughed somewhat at her response. "I can't complain either," he said with a smile. He looked at the stack of papers he had in his hands, then looked back to Mery. "But, um, do you think you can help me with a little research? I have to do a book report," he said, rolling his eyes. He hated book reports.

Mery shuddered."Ooh, fun. Book report." She smiled. She paused. She wasn't sure how much help she'd be, but...whatever. "Sure. I don't mind helping.

He smiled again. "Thanks," he said. He spotted an empty table near by, and put his things down over there. However, he didn't sit down just yet. "Hey, Mery? Do you think you could find me the book 'Interview with the Vampire' by Anne Rice?" he asked. "It should be in the fiction section."

Mery froze. "Uh...right." She smiled as confidently as she could. She walked to where she thought the fiction section might be. She thought about telling Nikki that she was blind, but she didn't want him to start babying her, which people generally did when they found out.
"Okay, so it's probably kind of thick..." She thought out loud.
"What book are you looking for?" the librarian asked. Mery jumped slightly, not realizing that anyone was there.
"Uh...Interview with a Vampire, By Anne Rice." Mery told her.
"I believe it's over on that table in the corner." The Librarian responded, then left.
Mery walked straight forward to one wall, then turned and walked straight until she was next to the table. She felt two books, side by side, and opted for the bigger one. She picked it up and told Pooka to go back to Nikki. Her stomach was tied up in knots from stress.

Nicolas smiled and watched her as she walked off, and sat down. However, he was sitting somewhat awkwardly so that his feet were to the side instead of underneath the table. He started writing down little notes, but looked up when he noticed Pooka and Mery returning. He saw a book in Mery's hand, but didn't look at it too carefully at it.

"Thanks for finding it for me," he said, completely unaware that she had gotten the wrong thing.

Mery relaxed and the book slid out of her hands. She bent to get it. Her hand brushed against his shoe, and then came in contact with the book. "Oh my gosh! I am so sorry!" She apologized, her cheeks turning pink.

The young man looked down as the book fell on his foot. He had felt absolutely nothing... nothing at all. Some would say being unable to feel pain was a blessing, but he disagreed. Just because one couldn't feel pain didn't mean that the damage wasn't done. He'd have to check on his foot later, since she had literally dropped an encyclopedia on it. He wouldn't do that now, though.

"Heh, it's alright," Nicolas said. Well, it was time she knew about his little problem. "I didn't feel a thing. Ya see, I have this genetic disorder I was born with. I can't feel physical pain." He offered a smile. "So don't apologize."

He leaned down to help her with the book, and raised an eyebrow when he saw what it was. "An encyclopedia...?" he asked, a bit confused as to why she had gotten an encyclopedia instead.
