Dorn laughed a little and scratched the back of his head at the words James said. "Well...I guess that is something not much people do" he said. "But then again I never was much like others..." he had finished all the books for school before any of the other kids and he had known everything that was inside of them to. It was something he was used to and he saw it as something normal and not at all special, but to others he was very special, that was why he did not often talk much about what he knew.

Dorn laughed at the words James said and he had to sit down on the bed and take a few deep breathes. "I see, well that makes me happy to you, I guess you do it on your own computer then?" he grinned slightly as he said this, then he shook his head. "Sorry about that Jamie, that was a little rude...but I could not resist to say it" he blinked a few time and then he brushed some of his hair away from the face with a slight gesture.

He watched the boy take of his shirt and put on the hoodie he borrowed, Dorn nodded a little and it looked like that was going to work out very nicely. "Yeah it is a little big I guess, but then you have something to grow in, you can take that I never use it anyway and see it as a welcome to the school present from your roommate." he smiled as he said this and then tilted his head to the side as James said that Dorn was smarted then him. "There is more to a person then to be smart you know, if I was only knowledge then I would have no feeling to use them in the right way." he thought for a moment and then he smiled a little. "Listen here Jamie, IF you ever need help with your school work in any way come see me, we are after all roommates even if we are not in the same class. We are going to live together for a long while now. I would be happy to help you if you have any problems."

"Not something anyone I know does, at least." He shrugged, eying the stacks of books and papers with interest. "It's cool. I think it's interesting." He added honestly, lest the other boy think he thought it was strange or weird.

Jamie grinned and flushed red, holding up his hands defensively. "Kidding, kidding." He wasn't good at telling when another person was joking, or whether or not they understood when he was. He tended to keep on the safe side and rarely made jokes; when he did he always backpedaled quickly.

He went back to his typing for a few minutes, humming happily in thanks when Dorn offered to let him keep the hoodie. "Probably would look better on you, eh? But thanks. M' glad I don't have to wear that stupid dress shirt all day." He wrinkled his nose, still slightly embarrassed of how easily Dorn had ascertained that his mother had forced the clothes upon him.

He shrugged, toying absentmindedly with one earring. "I don't mind if someone's smarter then me. Don't worry about it. I'm good with things unquantifiable; I don't need to be the best at everything." The other boy offered him help with his schoolwork and he buried his face in his hands, laughing embarrassedly. "Great, now you think I'm stupid... Don't get me wrong, I can't memorize my textbooks or ace tests without studying, but I've never had problems with schoolwork. Back home, at least. Hopefully the classes here are not geared towards those with IQs of a hundred and forty?" He paused, peeking out from between his fingers. "But... Thanks. I appreciate it. If I do need help, I'll definitely ask you."

Dorn smiled at him again and nodded. "Thanks for that Jamie, you made me feel much better" he said, it really did and it was nice that someone though that what he did was interesting. He then began to look thought some papers and he looked at James a little now and then as the boy used the computer. He laughed as James went into defensive. "So did I Jamie boy" he commented calmly and made a quick note on one of the many papers, then he opened a book and read for a few seconds before he closed it and nodded.

He tilted his head to the side as he talked about the hoodie. "Not sure about that really, It looks good on you actually. But your still growing just like me so my guess is that it will be to small for you before the end" a grin crossed his face as he said this and then he laid down on the bed for a few seconds and looked up, slowly he turned the eyes so that they looked at James again.

Dorn blinked a few times and then he frowned and stood up, he walked over to James and crunched down next to him, he took the boys hand and removed them from his face so that he could see it. "No I do not think you are stupid in any way Jamie" he said and his voice was serious. "I am sorry if I made it sound as if I thought so, it´s just that to do school work is much more fun if you have someone to do it with" he smiled a little and then his eyes moved to the computer and back at James, the boy did regret that he had said such a thing. He did not at all mean for it to sound like that.

"Ah. Good. I can never tell." He turned his attention back to the computer, popping up a moment later to add "and I figured I'd better play it on the safe side 'cause a lot of the time I find out later people take my jokes seriously and think something's horribly wrong with me, I guess they think I don't have a sense of humor or something -" He stopped abruptly, ducking his head back towards the computer screen. He was babbling again...

"You think?" He examined the hoodie with renewed interest. He had always been tiny for his age, had never considered the possibility that he might grow taller in time. The idea was welcome - he was tired of people mistaking him for a twelve year old.

He was explaining about his grades, probably babbling again, when suddenly he felt warm hands against his cold fingers, and then there was Dorn, staring at him sincerely with bright blue eyes and apologizing. He stared back, faintly realizing that this was the first time he'd actually made direct eye contact with the boy. He quickly shifted his gaze away, hazel eyes flickering about nervously while he tried to think of something to say. They finally landed on the bedspread, and he cleared his throat, fingers twisting nervously.
"I don't mind. It was a nice offer. I've always studied by myself; it would be nice to try it with someone else. If it's really more fun that way?"

Dorn smiled and listened to the boys words as he talked, he could tell that the boy though he talked to much but in fact Dorn did not at all mind that very much. He liked to have someone to talk to, normally he had Nikki but the boy could not be around all the time. He needed someone new to talk with to. "Well I figured that you did joke, since after all I was the one to start joking in that direction, you only returned the favor." he got a rather playful grin on his face and then he picked up a book and examined it for a moment before he placed it where he took it.

He laughed and nodded. "Of course Jamie boy, I am very sure you will grow to be rather tall actually, just give yourself a few years and then one day you will think back and not believe how short you used to be in the past." he blinked at the boy as he said this part, it was true and the body did not stop growing until sometime after 20 or so. Since Jamie could not be older then maybe 16 or 17 he had a few more years before he would stop fully.

Dorn continued to look the boy into the eyes with his own, he smiled a little as James turned away the eyes and seemed to think about what he would say. Dorn was still holding the other once hands and he did not really notice that, then he blinked a few times and slowly let go of the grip he had around the hands and laughed a little as his face turned a little red around the ears. He nodded a little. "I often study with others really, I have learned that things are easier to learn if your somewhere where you can be safe, with friends and family is one of those places" he smiled brightly as he said this. "Will make sure that you give it a try, and that way if we can get a little group to study with you will get to know more people, not many and just a few of the people living in the dorm, I happen to know a few very nice once that I think you should like. Nikki is one of them, he is the boy I came here with....he is my childhood friend and he is unable to dislike anyone so no need to worry he wont like you. Because I know he will"

Jamie hummed happily, pushing up the sleeves of the hoodie and dropping back down on his bed. It was true, all of his older brothers were quite tall. Even his younger sister was almost his height, despite being three years younger then him. Maybe he just needed a growth spurt or something.
He eyed the book Dorn had picked up, turning his attention momentarily back to his email. "You're allowed to bring books?" He asked, glancing up at Dorn curiously. "I only brought a few, thought I'd have to smuggle them in or something. I'll have to ask my parents to send the rest of mine." He studied the empty bookshelf next to his desk, attempting to determine how many of his books would fit.

Dorn let go of his hands and he slipped them into the dark confines of his too-long sleeves, fingers warm from the unexpected contact. To him, the safest, most comfortable place to be was always alone, with any friends and family safely far away where they couldn't try to have conversations with him where his brain spun in circles trying to think of responses fast enough, where there was no one to ask him questions he didn't know the answers to. The idea of attempting to study with a group of strangers seemed daunting and unproductive. Still, he could hear how careful Dorn was to stress that the group would be little, the way he assured him preemptively that his friend would like him.
"I'll give it a try." He smiled, shrugged with one shoulder, rather difficult when you're lying propped up with your elbows.

"Your friend... Nikki, he has powers as well? Do a lot of people where you come from have them?" As far as he knew, he was the only one in his town with powers. He knew that the news of his enrollment in the Academy was already local gossip. It was strange to think there were places where having abilities didn't necessarily mean having to hide them.

Dorn frowned a little and looked back at his books for a moment before he replied. "Of course one can bring books" he said calmly and glanced at the boy once more. "Well I did not smuggle them inside, actually I accidently dropped my bag with books on my way across the yard. So I do not think it is s secret that I have many books" he grinned slightly as he said this, then she slowly stretched his arms over the head and let out a slight yawn.

He nodded at the reply James gave that he would try. "Yeah, one can always try....in fact it would be a first one for me to." he commented and scratched himself in the back of the head for a moment, then he ruffled his own brown hair. "Have never been around this much people in the past actually." he laughed and shook his head slowly.

Dorn tilted his head a little to the side as James asked the question about Nikki and his powers, followed by the question if there was many where he lived with powers. "Well yeah Nikki has a power, I think I mentioned him down at the beach when we meet, he has the power to heal wounds and damage. He saved my life once with that" he explained softly. "and no to the other question, so far I only know that Nikki and I are the once with powers from where we grew up and all that. But who knows if there where some of them not showing it, one can never be to sure." he made a pause and then he thought for a moment before he continued to talk. "So how about you then Jamie? Much people with powers where you come from?"

He laughed, seeing the other boy's reaction to his assumption. "I don't know. I thought this was, like, this super strict school, and you weren't allowed anything distracting."

He lapsed into silence while he finished his email, finally closing the laptop and carrying it across to Dorn's desk. "It's definitely going to take getting used to," He said, wrinkling his nose in thought. "I mean, I'm used to being able to be alone as much as I need to. Usually I'm good at it, but... There are a lot of people here." Even the quick walk through the grounds had convinced him of that. He didn't like the thought of always being in this giant crowd of people, never finding a place to be unconditionally and completely alone.

"Oh, that's him, eh?" He glanced up, interested. If Nikki was the one who had saved his friend's life, he was less worried about meeting him.

"No one that I know of. But I never tried to find anyone else, or anything." He shrugged, watching his hands. "Kinda always been freaked out about the whole thing, to be honest. I mostly just tried to forget about it."

Dorn blinked a few times and then he tilted his head a little to the side again as he looked at James. "You thought that? Well then I can tell you that this school is not very different from many others, in fact this one is from what I have heard not strict at all. With people having all these kinds of powers I Imagine that one has to have a rather open mind so to speak." a grin crossed his face for a moment as he said this.

Dorn followed James with his eyes as he walked with the laptop back to the desk, he nodded slowlt to what the boy said. "Yeah I understand that" he said slowly and scratched himself in the back of the head for a moment. "and Jamie, if you ever feel like you want to be alone or so then of course you can use this room and I can always go to the library or over to Nikki for a while if you want to be alone. That is not a problem." he smiled at his friend when he said this, it was a friendly smile.

He nodded to James question if that was him. "Aye that is Nikki, in fact his dorm room is the one right next to ours here in this part." he explained and made a gesture towards th wall in his end of the room. "We often go to each others rooms so be ready that he can come to visit a little now and then. I hope you like Disney classics" he blinked slightly and pointed towards the shelf where he had his movies, if one looked close there was close to all the old classics there, from Snow White to Robin Hood. Dorn had a great love for Disney movies, of the old school, he did not give much for the once that was made today. To much was done with computers, not with hand as back in the old days.

He listened to James as he talked and then Dorn nodded as he understood. "Yeah I know that feeling very well, but I can tell you that from the start it was far from easy to control my powers to detect emotions, I tell you it is a pain to be able to feel every single emotions going on in a room" he shook his head slowly and then he laughed. "Good thing I can control that part to the most part now"

James shook his head, holding up his hands quickly. "No need for that. I'm good at finding anti-social hangouts." He grinned at the other boy, going back to rifling through his messenger bag for his contacts case. He had been up since five, and his eyes ached from wearing contacts the entire time. He took them out, digging through the bag again for his glasses.

Pushing the glasses up on his nose, his eyes followed the boy's gesture to a previously unnoticed shelf filled with movies. He scanned the titles, a nostalgic grin crossing his face. "Haven't seen any since I was a kid... My little sister never got into them the way I did. I used to love 'The Aristocats' and 'Robin Hood'. I knew all the songs; my brothers used to laugh at me."

He nodded as Dorn told him about his troubles with his powers, a little surprised. He had thought Dorn just noticed other people's emotions; he didn't realize he could feel them, too. "That must have been annoying," he mused, trying to imagine what it would be like to feel other people's emotions as if they were his own.
