Eein Dresden

They stood in a field just outside of the woods, his two regalia besides him and of course his guardian in front. He'd never considered learning other elements before, his father had of course been an ice dragon, his mother a general mage. Yet here he was, learning to manipulate other forces of nature.

"Surely manipulating other elements isn't that different from my freezing fire?" he'd ask her, raising his hand, a few sparks of electricity appearing between his fingers. He'd learned the basics from his regalia, but now wanted to learn from his guardian.

"Anyone back in the community ever learn anything besides ice?" he'd ask, his confident and slightly cocky smirk appearing as he spoke.

It was a very peculiar, fascinating and wonderful thing, these regalia and the way they granted powers. Huilu almost regretted she hadn't had the chance to take part in this tournament. But she had responsibilities and other such duties, that prevented Huilu from committing a larger part of her concentration elsewhere. She was happy to observe her adopted son take part and learn new things, and like that Huilu herself had the chance to learn from him like this.

"Perhaps, or perhaps not. Isn't that the exciting part in this, to find it out?"
Huilu answered Eein with a small mysterious smile as she observed the sparks between his fingers. Huilu was purely commited to ice element wise, but she practised other magic as well. And if Eein somehow lost control her calming abilities could come in handy.
"But treat the elements with respect, Eein. Because a wind does not howl like the earth rumbles, and fire does not crack like the thunder claps."

Huilu was familiar with that smile of Eein's at this point, and she had seen it on the faces of her cousins and brethren. Surely a shadow of it had been on Huilu's own face as well. And now Huilu answered it with a calm smile and a serious expression.
"There are many kinds of elementalists in our community. We control water in all its forms, naturally, such as snow, steam and of course ice. And we have Earth dragons that take care of our agriculture and mining, we are greatly dependent on them. And we have the occasional air dragon, my oldest friend can summon gusts strong enough to make a mountain top tremble."
This was also a good opportunity to share some knowledge of their community, and Huilu took th chance to do so.

Eein Dresden

He'd listen to her speak, hearing her talk of the elements, of the abilities the dragons of their community had. "Well....wind will come eventually," focusing he'd form a small cloud but it quickly broke apart and vanished," he'd growl a little and turned his focus back to his electricity.

Focusing he'd form a small ball of electricity that floated just above his hand, it'd crackle. "Yes...respect the elements," he'd watch the ball, making it float around his hand, it was definitely different than ice, it seemed less stable, more chaotic.

Focusing again the electricity suddenly spark and flash, essentially blowing up in his face as a flash of spsrks. He'd hiss and growl, stepping back and wiping the sparks from his eyes, quietly cursing a bit. "Different from ice," he'd blink a bit, his vision blurred but quickly returning.

"Patience, Eein."
Huilu said with a calm tone, as Eein struggled with his new powers. She didn't interfere, she wanted Eein to try for himself at first. Huilu knew he was a proud individual, and she wouldn't coddle him. That would only irritate and thus distract Eein from what he should be concentrating on.

Huilu herself felt proud of Eein, when he formed a ball of electricity on his palm. He wasn't her son, not in the traditional kind of way, but Huilu had seen Eein grow during the short time he had spent with her and that growth alone was enough to make Huilu feel proud of him. Although Huilu had to stifle his motherly urge to go and check on Eein immediately when the electricity exploded on his face. Instead she walked over calmly and observed his state. He'd be alright.
"I'd imagine it's different from ice. Lightning, as you might've observed, is chaotic and free where as ice is hard and cold. Here."
Huilu took Eein's hand and brought it forward, palm up and fingers spread.
"Do not try to contain the lightning. Instead, let it spread from the center of your palm and tips of your fingers, give it a space where it can play and run rampant. Get used to it, listen to it, know it. And it will do so towards you."

The young dragon would follow her example, looking down at his hand, fingers spread he'd again conjure the electricity. This time the electricity seemed to dance across his his, seeming to jump between his fingers and finally stabilize into a crackling glowing web over his hand.

Bring his hand close to his face, he'd observe the conjured element, the sounds it made, the way it moved. Closing his eyes he could feel his connection to it, the spark between his mind and it. "Yeah....I can feel it," he'd tell her, his eyes still closed.

Opening his eyes he'd bring his other hand up and the electricity would start to jump between his hands. Finally the jumping would stop and both hands were crackling with the element. A few small bolts would seemingly bounce to the ground, he'd take a step back, not wanting it to hit Huilu as he tried to contain it.

This was how Huilu had trained her ice powers as a young hatchling, and she was glad to see it helped Eein as he clearly was able to keep the electricity within his control like this. Huilu looked at the element dancing within his grasp and she was dazzled by the beauty she saw in it.

"Good. I know I probably don't need to tell you, but don't be afraid or run from it. This is your element now, it's a part of you."
Huilu said, and also took a step back when Eein did.
"Good, let it grow a bit more, and then try to reel it back before it gets too large."

Nodding he'd look at the electricity, letting it grow, small bolts reaching out from it and hitting the grown. He could feel the power, the vibrations the electricity gave off, it was fascinating, invigorating. It was so unlike his freezing fire, it was new and energetic to him.

Focusing again, he'd start to pull the power back, it'd continue to crackle but it'd shrink in size. Inch by inch until it was lessened to a baseball sized orb of electricity floating between his hands. Satisfied with it, he'd let it sit in the palm of his hands, glowing and crackling and remaining there.

Leaning in, he'd observe the orb, when a tiny bolt lashed out and hit him in the nose. He'd sneaze, "fickle thing," learning new elements was definitely a new thing, but he was a fast learner and he was already imagining the potential uses.

As Eein dealt with his electricity Huilu began doing the same exercise with her own ice, letting thin swirls of it dance between her palms. And she let it grow in the same pace as Eein let his, and when it was time to reel it back Huilu began doing it with ease. But she waited until Eein got his own element back in control, and in the end both of them had clean, small orbs made of their separate elements. Huilu's ice orb had intricate snowflake patterns on its surface, and she approached Eein again floating the orb on her other palm.

"Very nice, you succeeded on the first attempt. It took me several in my hatchling days, I chilled my nose countless times."
Huilu said and chuckled, looking at the orb Eein had in his palm. And as he brought it close and it caused him to sneeze Huilu even let out a small laugh.
"Fickle indeed. I think I can relate to it. Electricity is restless and filled with unending energy, you need strength of will and with to wield it. But I know you will succeed in it."
