"That wasn't what - never mind. It doesn't matter now." Delara had just been struck how hard it must've been for her family to have a human around all the time making them hungrier. Although the older members of her family, in particular, had been protective of her, the daeva had fended off a few advances from other vampires. But - she'd never been afraid of most of her siblings. Even Leandro, though he'd sometimes been violent, as he said, had never lashed out at her. When she was human, she hadn't understood the pull. Feeling it herself made her even more grateful than she already had been.
She knew about motives, about trying to do better. She wasn't at her brother's level in school, but she had her duty. She'd pushed herself trying to keep up with her siblings when she was only human, trying to prove that she controlled the daeva and they shouldn't give her away. She had been a little nervous about the actually getting turned into a vampire part, but at the same time - she'd been a little afraid that they still wouldn't accept her until that point.
The lingering insecurity hadn't vanished completely. What motivated the girl was always - I want to prove that I'm valuable enough to not be thrown away. But she didn't say this to her brother. It wasn't exactly a conscious thought anyway.
"Family has always been my motive, Le." She patted his arm gently. "It's okay to miss her... the hunters are worse than vampires. None of you ever hurt me."
When he poked her, she giggled. She was still stressed and hungry, but talking was helping - a momentary distraction. She ran her fingers over the necklace he gave her, smiling as she felt the word. "Family... it's beautiful. Jeegaret-ō bokhoram (I love you), brother." She put the necklace on, then she sighed a little. "All right. back to work, I guess?"
