Vampires, nosteratu, creatures of the night who feast on the blood of the living. Ironically most of the legends about vampires were quite true, depending on the bloodline anyways. Leandro had taken it upon himself to help teach his sister, train her her how to control her thirst, see through the bloodlust.

Today they sat in his personal training room, the walls were lined with various weapons and tools, in the corner was a fridge with blood packs. Leandro had suffered from bloodlust worse than most when he was younger, so he knew what she was going through. He remembered the techniques to calm the mind and spirit.

Today they were starting with meditation, clearing the mind to clear the bloodhaze. He took a breath, "There we go, calm even breaths, like flowing water in a river, flowing gently. You need blood, just as I do, but it does not rule us." @Boop

Delara felt like she'd spent her whole life learning some form of control or another, but this training was a lot different than what was involved with the daeva. For one thing, she had never had to deal with something as mental and instinctual as hunger. For another, the bloodlust was not as cooperative as the daeva was, and didn't come with instructions. In fact, the daeva didn't even know why she was trying to fight her own nature, but it was being silent for the moment.

Fortunately, the thing wasn't in her head, but its presence was making it hard to calm her mind. Meditation always made her feel a little too open to the daeva, and she was already on edge. The girl tried not to snap at her brother - he was only trying to help.

Having been with the clan since she was so young, she'd practically considered herself a vampire already, but it wasn't the same. Dealing with the change was still rough, even though she'd known it was coming. She was glad her family was helping her through - she knew some vampires didn't have that. She loved them all - the ones who had taken her in and hadn't passed her on when she became too inconvenient. But she felt closest to Leandro, not just because of the blindness, but because of the anger, the drive to stay wanted by the clan.

"Was it hard for you, Le, when I was human?"

"I'd always struggled with bloodlust, didn't matter human or vampire," he took a breath, and slowly breathed out, "with me it was....violent. I lashed out a lot if you remember." He sighed a little, "we all work off of motives, things that cause us to make decisions, changes, motivate us to do better." Leandro cleared his throat, "for me, it was our family, you, and...and Anna," a lot of memories, both good and bad, a lot of guilt for him.

"In the end, we all have to find our motive," leaning over, he gently poked her forehead, "I'll always be here for you, but in the end you gotta pick your motive, though from my experience it often picks you." He smiled at her, they'd always been close, he was grateful for her.

"When the blood takes hold, think about whatever your motive is, it'll remind you," reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a small necklace. "Take this," he slipped it into her hand, on it was a single word in breil, it read family, "and remember, you're never alone."

"That wasn't what - never mind. It doesn't matter now." Delara had just been struck how hard it must've been for her family to have a human around all the time making them hungrier. Although the older members of her family, in particular, had been protective of her, the daeva had fended off a few advances from other vampires. But - she'd never been afraid of most of her siblings. Even Leandro, though he'd sometimes been violent, as he said, had never lashed out at her. When she was human, she hadn't understood the pull. Feeling it herself made her even more grateful than she already had been.

She knew about motives, about trying to do better. She wasn't at her brother's level in school, but she had her duty. She'd pushed herself trying to keep up with her siblings when she was only human, trying to prove that she controlled the daeva and they shouldn't give her away. She had been a little nervous about the actually getting turned into a vampire part, but at the same time - she'd been a little afraid that they still wouldn't accept her until that point.

The lingering insecurity hadn't vanished completely. What motivated the girl was always - I want to prove that I'm valuable enough to not be thrown away. But she didn't say this to her brother. It wasn't exactly a conscious thought anyway.

"Family has always been my motive, Le." She patted his arm gently. "It's okay to miss her... the hunters are worse than vampires. None of you ever hurt me."

When he poked her, she giggled. She was still stressed and hungry, but talking was helping - a momentary distraction. She ran her fingers over the necklace he gave her, smiling as she felt the word. "Family... it's beautiful. Jeegaret-ō bokhoram (I love you), brother." She put the necklace on, then she sighed a little. "All right. back to work, I guess?"

He did miss her, he rarely talked about her, he still felt so much guilt over what had happened. Leandro didn't tell her any of this, he didn't tell anyone about the guilt, how it affected him, though some of them likely guessed it. "Oh but we have been working," he gently poked her again. "I know it doesn't seem like much, us sitting, talking and meditating, but it'll help you focus."

"When people talk about training, training their body, training their mind, they always talk about the big training exercises, the intense ones that seem borderline suicidal," he chuckled a little, "truth is, the small things are just as important, sometimes even more so"

"That said," he chuckled again, "if you want something a bit more, we could grab a couple of the training swords and go a few rounds." He was joking of course, well partly, he trained a lot, it was a daily thing for him.
