Sofia raised an eyebrow, but didn't ask about jail...Riley seemed inclined to tell her, anyways. She listened with patience as she made Riley a sandwich and put it on a plate, then found some grapes in the fridge and added those to the plate, too. She poured the girl a cup of milk and set the plate and cup down in front of her before going to make several of her own sandwiches.

She gave a surprised chuckle. This girl must be rather strong. "I'm impressed that you managed to do all of that by yourself," she said, setting her fourth sandwich onto the stack on her own plate and starting a fifth one. "What are you studying in school?" She felt comfortably maternal, standing in the kitchen and asking a child about school while she made sandwiches. Like this was what her life should be.

Sofia was impressed? That was the best damn response Riley had heard in her life. She also appreciated the change of topic. "It's, ah, normal elementary school stuff, mostly," Riley said. "Fractions and stuff in maths. In history we're learning about the Founders of the Manta Carlos. They were pirates and they didn't have a government telling them what to do. Old Manta Carlos sounds like it would have been a cool place to live."

Old Manta Carlos didn't have scouts either, or a school. It would have been way better. You didn't need to know maths to blow up navy ships and take their stuff. She wished that she could be a pirate. She would have become the God-Queen of the high seas when she grew up.

Elementary school. Sofia could hardly remember those days, they seemed like such a long time ago. She suddenly felt rather old, then reminded herself that she still had several...several years ahead of her, especially now that she was a werewolf. If she took care of herself, she was bound to live forever.

She put the knife in the sink and joined the girl at the table with her plate stacked full of sandwiches. She would have been embarrassed by the sheer amount of food she was about to eat, but she was starting to get used to having to increase her food intake in order to keep her weight where it was. She could stand to gain a few pounds...it was a struggle to do so. Sofia was mostly muscle. She ate the first sandwich and started on the second as she listened to Riley tell her about history class.

"That does sound cool," she smiled. "I didn't know that." She didn't know any of the island's history, to be honest. "Maybe I should take a few history classes at the school, myself. It would certainly give me something more to do than just play house for Caius." Though she really didn't mind it all that much.

Riley worked much more slowly on her own sandwich. She was kind of amazed at how fast Sofia was eating, and how much. "That's a lot of sandwiches," she said with awe. "Do you have to eat that much 'cause you're a werewolf? I know a kid who can eat a whole cow for lunch 'cause he's a dragon." It didn't really make much sense as she thought about it more, though. Werewolves don't eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, do they? They probably eat meat and people and stuff.

She didn't understand why an adult would take classes if they didn't have to. She hated taking classes and she only did it because they were forcing her.

Sofia paused between her second and third sandwich and gave the girl a sheepish sort of look. "Yeah. Fast metabolism and all...my body burns through food so fast that I have to eat a lot of it to keep myself going. Usually meat is better, but peanut butter has protein, too." She considered, "I could probably eat a cow if I wanted to, though mostly I go after rabbits or the occasional deer when I'm wolf." She shrugged, "In human form I prefer the cooked stuff...makes me feel a little less like a crazy monster." Though if it was meat, it was usually cooked rare - the wolf still preferred raw meat, but it turned Sofia's stomach sometimes when she ate it like that.

She went into a thoughtful silence for a bit as she made headway into another sandwich. "I was never terribly interested in school when I was your age," she switched the subject. "Kind of glad my dad made me go through it, though. Ended up being worth the fuss, when you get a degree and a job you like." She'd liked her job before things had changed. Sofia wondered briefly if there was something similar she could do here on the island.

Riley guessed that was right. If they weren't going to let her destroy how society worked, she would need to go to school to get a job and stuff when she grew up. It would be such a disappointing life to lead, though. Her father used to make her think that she could just be a God for a living, after the revolutions happened. That would have been cool. But now it was starting to look like the great destiny she was supposed to have would never happen, and she would just get a job like everyone else and never change anything or be important.

She ate more of her sandwich and tried not to let those thoughts consume her. They were talking about weird diets. She knew someone with a weird diet. "My best friend here is a lust demon who's a giant spider from the butt down. She eats human flesh sometimes, and that used to really freak me out, but they can just clone body parts here for her to eat so it's ok."

Sofia swallowed and made a face in response. "I don't think I've ever eaten a human. I'm not...a hundred percent positive; a lot of my early days as a wolf are blocked out of my memory, but it doesn't sound very appetizing to me. I feel like if I went down that path, I'd lose control of my wolf, and nobody wants that to happen, especially not me," she said. It would kill her soul if she hurt anyone, especially if she had no control over what she was doing. Sofia would never willingly kill another person. It just wasn't in her nature.

She'd all but demolished her sandwiches by now, and she was...not full, but sated. The wolf was quiet, settled down in the back of her mind, though it whispered to her on the subject of killing humans that it believed meat was meat. She tried her best to ignore it. "Your friend sounds interesting, though. I've never met a giant spider lust demon before." She hadn't met a lot of people on this island, to be exact. Sofia needed more friends than just Caius in her life.

"I didn't either. I only knew humans before I came here. But she's not really a giant, she's just a little taller than me, and her human parts are normal sized. But her spider part is SUPER big for a spider! And she can walk up walls and stuff. It's really cool."

Riley finished up her sandwich as she spoke, sometimes talking with her mouth full. When she was done, she had an idea.

"Uh, can I use the bathroom?"

This was a scout's house. She had an opportunity for revenge.

Sofia chuckled. That sounded like an interesting friend, indeed. She wondered briefly just how many other kinds of creatures were on this island...well, they were people, just like her, but they were...more than people. There was something different about everyone that lived here. Something that set them apart from the human world and made them special. Riley had only given a hint to what she was, but Sofia realized that she still had no idea. There were probably all sorts of possibilities.

She was preparing to ask about what kind of species Riley was when the girl suddenly asked if she could use the restroom. "Sure," she replied with a smile as she rose and started to take the plates to the sink. "It's just down the hallway there and on the left." Sofia busied herself with rinsing the plates off in the sink and putting them in the dishwasher.

When Riley had shut the bathroom door behind her, the first thing that came to mind was toilet paper. You could make a real mess with toilet paper. She started tearing up the roll of toilet paper, leaving pieces of it everywhere. Next, she was going to try something she saw happen in a hallway once: if you got a wad of toilet paper really wet in the sink, then tossed it at the ceiling, it would stick. She laughed to herself, imagining that scout having to clean up all the...

Riley stopped, soggy paper in her hands, shredded TP at her feet, staring at the ceiling. She remembered Sofia saying that she was "keeping house" for this jerkwad, right? So that meant... Sofia would be picking all of this up. And Sofia was cool. Riley didn't want to do this to Sofia, she wanted to do this to that jerk she was living with!

In her frustration, she made a sound almost like a growl. Then she started picking up after herself. By the time she left that bathroom, there was a bunch of shredded toilet paper in the trash can, and none of it on the floor. She hadn't flushed or washed her hands - there was no point. She came back out by the kitchen and sulked.
