Sabriel thought, kicking his legs against the rock and bobbing his head from side to side. Nicolas had been there a long time before he had decided to go... and he finally remembered. "I've been here since February!" he said cheerfully. "Do you have any siblings?"

Brazil shook her head. She didnt't have any that she was aware of. She pointed her finger at him again and tilted her head to the side, waiting.

"One," Sabriel responded. "But I haven't seen or heard from him in a very long time..." Not to mention seeing images of his death in his head over and over made him wonder if Nicolas was still alive. But, then again, that was nonsense — Nicolas wouldn't die without his little brother's permission!

He then noticed the little device that Brazil had. "What's that?" he questioned.

"It's how I talk." She held the small thing up for him to see it better. The book in her other hand slipped out of her grip and fell to the ground. Sighing, she bent over and picked it back up.

Sabriel looked at the device. Curious, he snatched it from her hands, looking it over. "This is pretty nifty!" he said, looking at it even more. This really was a cool object. "Where did you get it? Is it custom made?"

Gapping at him while trying not to get too upset, Brazil hit him hard over the head with her book. She wished she could yell at him just then, but unfortunately, since she wasn't holding it she couldn't yell. The best she could go was give him a very angry look and grab at it.

Sabriel pouted and lifted one hand to his head when he was hit. "Ow! All I was doing was looking!" he said. He rubbed a forming bump and mumbled something under his breath before he handed the device back to her. "Sorry..." he said, a wave of depression suddenly washing over him. "Are we still friends?"

Once she had the device back in her hand, Brazil said with a frown still on her face, "That doesn't matter! I can't speak without this thing!" A second later she was calmed down.

"Are we still friends?"

With a small smile, Brazil nodded. She slipped the small square shaped object back into her pocket.

An apologetic look came to Sabriel's eyes. "I didn't mean to..." he said quietly, hoping she wouldn't stay angry for very long. As soon as she nodded and said they were still friends, the neko managed to smile a bit.

"So, um... do you want to go get ice cream or something?" That's what he and Ella had done when they first met, and ice cream always made everything better!
