Cat-ears twitched as the now fourteen-year-old neko pranced around the rocks. The sun was going down as he hopped from boulder to boulder, laughing insanely. Even though it was the summer, Sabriel had a large, fluffy coat on, seeming to not know just how warm it was. The boy was delusional, though, and completely insane. It couldn't be helped.

He finally stopped and looked up at the sky, still giggling. His golden eyes held a sort of sad look, even though all of the laughter. Sometimes... people just had to laugh to keep themselves from crying. "They're coming to take me away! Eeh haaha tee hee!" he yelled, spinning in a circles. "The aliens are coming, YAHOO!"

Book in hand, Brazil wandered up the side of the mountain, trying to find a good rock to sit upon. Her curious eyes looked around for a place to rest, but she couldn't find anything. Instead, a few minutes later she came upon a boy that was somewhere around her own thirteen years. She frowned in confusion as he yelled something about getting taken away.

When he yelled something about aliens, Brazil thought, He's crazy. She glared at the offending device in her pocket when it voiced the thought aloud. The voice sounded exactly like Brazil's--you would know if you had heard her speak before.

Sabriel thought he heard a voice and he looked around before seeing a girl. He shied back slightly and looked at her through cautious eyes before skipping over to her, going around her in a circle.

"Are the aliens coming for you too?!" Sabriel asked in absolute joy. It would be nice to have a friend while on the ship! "Or... ARE you one of the aliens?!" A look of wonder came to his face and he held a finger out. He wanted to poke her, but he was afraid she might eat him or disappear if he did so.

Brazil reached into her pocket and shut off the machine, not wanting it to say anymore of her thoughts. She stared at the boy and shook her head. He had to be crazy. Didn't he realize aliens weren't real?

When he pointed to her, she backed away from him, not sure what he was wanting to do. She frowned and, as if it had a mind of its own, her finger rose and touched tip-to-tip with his finger.

Sabriel frowned when she backed away and shook her head. "You're... you're not an alien?" He was desperate for friends, and since no one here liked him, maybe people from other worlds would. He hadn't heard from or seen Nicolas, Ella, and Mery in so long... and the only person who cared about him right now was that creepy guy January.

As he finger touched his, the neko grinned and looked at her with an ecstatic glee to his eye. "I'm Sabriel!" he said. "Will you be my friend?!"

"You're... you're not an alien?"

Brazil pressed her lips together and shook her head, seeing it would disappoint him. She didn't like that it would, but she deffinately couldn't help it that she wasn't an alien.

Seeing his grin, Brazil saw he was pretty harmless and turned her 'talking device' back on.

"I'm Sabriel!"

The little teen grinned. "I like that name" came the words she wished would come out of her mouth. "I'm Brazil."

"Will you be my friend?!"

Brazil nodded twice, smiling at him. It was a nice thought to have friends. When she wrote her mother, her mom would be very happy about her having a friend. Even if the friend was crazy.

Sabriel frowned when she showed that she really wasn't an alien. Oh, well... maybe they would come to take him away from Earth another night. That would be nice. Maybe Nicolas and Ella were on some other planet... it would be nice to go there if they were there too.

"I'm Brazil."

"That's a pretty name!!" he quickly exclaimed. "It's unique, like mine! It's great to meet you!" He was in a good mood right now, even though the disappointment of the lack of aliens was horrible. Brazil was lucky, though — if Sabriel had been in a worse mood, she would have had more to worry about than his talk of aliens.

When she nodded her head to say they could be friends, the little boy jumped up and down in the air a few times. He hesitated before quickly jumping and hugging her as he landed. "Squee!!" he yelled. "So how old are you, Brazil?" he asked, taking a few steps away from her now that he had invaded her personal bubble.

When he hugged her, Brazil stiffened involuntarily. She'd not had much physical contact with anyone in her lifetime besides with her mother. And even then it had been scarce.

"So how old are you, Brazil?"

Not wanting to use the battery too much, she held up one finger, then three. She then pointed a finger at his chest, asking him the question back with her eyes.

Sabriel nodded at her fingers. Thirteen was a nice age. "I just turned fourteen," he said. "August fourth." He grinned, then looked at his coat. Aunt Michele had gotten it for him. At least she was still around to love him.

He slowly removed his coat and set it on a rock, now beginning to feel a bit warm. Underneath was a long-sleeved, bright yellow shirt. He sat down on his coat and patted the rock next to his, wanting Brazil to sit with him. "How long have you been here?" he asked her.

So he's a bit older than me. She thought. When he patted the rock beside him, she moved over and lowered herself down. She smiled at him.

"How long have you been here?"

Not knowing how to indicate a month with her fingers, Brazil used her machine. "Almost a month. And you?"
