"I'm aware of what polygamy is, I have no issues with it myself, but I am more of a monogamy kind of person honestly." This was at heart who was, he liked the idea of being in a relationship with a single person and committing to them.

"Interesting, well, it can be just about anything I suppose. I'm an open minded person, but there is this ground rule I want to establish now. If I find someone I have feelings for and have a connection with, what we have is going to be ended. At least the sex and stuff, we could be friends because you seem cool, for a felon that is." This was important to him, he wanted a relationship but this girl didn't seem like the one who would be giving it to him.

Eliana didn't say anything for a time, and her face was hidden by the darkness of the night. Her lips pursed.

"Yeah, whatever."

She didn't like the sound of it. It was just another form of rejection and what if, when he wanted to leave, she still wanted him around? What then? She already knew it'd piss her off. Someone coming into her home and stealing her shit.

The irony of the thought made her smile return.

"You're a monogamy guy?" She made a face as if tasting something sour.

Suddenly, the car jerked to a stop. Eliana idled, then resumed her drive. "Sorry. Bunny crossing."

He'd raise an eyebrow at her tone, maybe there was more to her than just what he had seen so far, maybe he'd struck a nerve, maybe she had actually feelings for him.

"Why sound so surprised? I like relationships where it's just the two of you, call me a romantic or old fashioned but my heart wouldn't be able to handle getting emotionally invested with someone and allow them to date and go around with other people." There was a hint of pain his words, he had bad memories of love, people had used him and thrown him away before, he tried to not dwell on those. He'd look away from her, his chest was aching but he was sure that he didn't have the means to hide it from his face.

Then he'd jerk forward, looking wildly outside as a rabbit was hopping across the road. "Ah, no need I understand. I'd probably do the same."

"I...guess I could get that," Eliana said hesitantly.

She couldn't have gotten it. her whole family was against the idea of monogamy. But... she did have memories of a time...

As was her custom, Eliana rarely kept thoughts to herself.

"That's a lie," she said suddenly after getting back to driving. She hadn't noticed the pain on his face because she was adamant about staring forward.

"I couldn't understand. My whole family doesn't like the idea of monogamy. I do recall my mom having a husband, though. It never struck me back then that that must have meant she cheated on him with my father."

Her voice was cool and low. There was no emotion in it as she described this.

"I guess it's just different kinds of love," she mused. "because I do love them. I love everything of mine."

"And that's okay, that's how some people are, and I accept that and if that makes you happy, then enjoy it as much as you can." This was his genuine opinion, he wanted people to be happy with whatever they did and however they were.

"I'm sorry I don't see it your way though. If you can't stand my rule then we can absolve the whole idea of being lovers if you'd prefer." He was true to who he was, trying to be considerate of how she felt, even if she didn't outwardly show her inner emotions. But he had to be true to himself and that rule was staying if he were to stay.

Eliana sighed. She knew she would be angry and upset, but she'd do it anyway. Self-depreciation. Lust. It was that terrible cycle. Whatever.

"No, that's fine."

The song on the radio changed. Eliana jumped at it. "Oh man, this song fuckin' rocks!"

She amped the volume up. It was just a way for her to be done with this conversation. She didn't like feeling things. It made her all weird.

"If you say so Eli." He'd give her one more worried glance before dropping the subject entirely. He hated to hurt people, but some things were unpreventable it seemed.

He'd bob his head to the beat of the song before looking out the window. He'd turn the music down a bit, "Where are you taking me by the way?"

"Oh," Eliana said, remembering she was supposed to be taking him somewhere. She guffawed. This is why she didn't have serious talks, okay?

"Where do you stay? I guess I'm going to need that information if I want to drive you back, huh?"

It totally slipped his mind as well, "Well, I live at the college dorms currently on campus." He'd laugh, scratching the back of his head.

"Oh, a college kid," she said playfully. "Oh man dude, we gotta hang. I'm not just talkin' sex stuff either, I'm saying legit club together."

She leaned back in her seat, steering the car in the right direction for the campus. "Could hook me up with some of your hot college buddies. I ain't picky. Girls, guys, I love 'em all."
