Kaydence walked down one of the halls. He'd been at Starlight for a few days, and he thought it was about time to explore and get the feel of things. He figured that even though he and his sister would probably have to leave soon, it would be good to know the territory.
He passed the music room. The door was open. He saw a grand piano sitting there. He hadn't played in a long time, not since before the fire. He ambled in and sat down.
He layed his fingers on the ivory keys, unsure of himself. But the notes just came to him naturally. As he played, he realized just how much he'd missed being able to play the piano. But there was never one available, and never the time, when he and Kamberlyn had been on the run.
"There's a song that plays inside of my soul...
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But you sing to me over and over and over again...
He sang softly so that no one would hear him. He would generally not have sang at all, but it had been such a long time since he'd been able to play or sing, that he forgot his unwillingness to do so. He just let the music take over.
