There was a chill in the air, the sun just set, and Maarab walked slowly to the Community Centre, fascinated by the way the park lights reflected off the gently falling snow. Other than that he felt somewhat detached from his surroundings. He still kept an eye out, enough that he would not run into anyone, but he was mostly lost in thought.

The half-demon had been on edge lately, his father spitting anger in his head. Though the archdemon did not waste much time in harassing Maarab through their link, it happened enough to be agitating. To leave him brooding about home and what he'd left behind.

Maarab was almost to the centre when he noticed someone behind him, heading in the same direction. He turned to see who it was, putting on a casual grin and reaching for the door. He was planning to open it for them, not out of politeness, but because he still didn't like having a stranger at his back when his hands were full.

Lyrenae

Lyrenae was going to the Community centre again to just hang out. When she got closer to it she saw someone and as she got closer to them she realized she knew them. She instantly slapped them when she got close and said "why did you just leave me there you could have at least helped me escape from that place you foul demon"

The words did not register in Maarab's head at first. He felt the slap and the knife formed in his hand almost by instinct. Moving to push his attacker against the wall, sideways so his back would not be open, Maarab bared his pointy teeth in a false grin, asking, "Where are the others? "

He had the shadowy knife almost to her throat before he realized she was an angel and backed off laughing. The knife vanished though Maarab remained on guard, in spite of how the nearly maniacal laughing fit may have looked.

"Angel, I had other things on my mind at the time." He had calmed down enough to speak, with a wide grin, and to finally answer her question. "I am surprised you did escape, even with the knife." Unconsciously he scratched at the scar on his neck, grin dropping a bit. "I hope it was not easy."
